I lost my address bar.

I've read about bringing back the "menu bar" but I have it with all the words intact "File, Edit, View, ect.". I just don't have the address bar & I use it a lot. Could someone please help me?

You need to customize your Navigation toolbar to get back the address bar. This is fairly simple. These articles have the instructions to guide you: [[Navigation Toolbar items]] and [[How to customize the toolbar]].

If you can open Safari go to the top of your screen, click Safari / Preferences then select the General stab. You can type in the web address for your Home page there.

To get the Menu bar I followed the excellent advice - I had to press the Alt key and V to get the chance to pick toolbars from the drop down menu. I just right-clicked on the blank page and hit Alt-V.

Have you looked at the Knowledge Base article [[Back and forward or other toolbar items are missing]]? It will show you how to enable the toolbar and lots of other cool information. It's actually quite easy!

It was changed with it update. Just use the address bar to Google.

I have tried the solutions of showing toolbar (which is not an option under view) and then going into customize toolbar where I try and drag the default tool bar with "address and search" and everythig comes up but "address and search." Any suggestions?

Are you talking about the Address Book not being bookmarked? If so, read on:
If your address book isn’t bookmarked
If you don’t see your address book listed as a collection in your bookmarks library, or the Address Book Collection doesn’t contain any websites, the information here may help.
Here are some things to try:

Choose Safari > Preferences and click the Bookmarks tab. Make sure that Include Address Book is checked. You can add the address book to the bookmarks bar, menu, and/or library (as a collection).
■
In your address book, check to see if any of your contacts have websites listed in the “home page” field. If no websites are listed, there are no home pages to include as bookmarks.

Lost address bar/area

i've lost my address bar and don't know where to find it.
i've confirmed that it is there in firefox and internet explorer but not safari.
i upgraded to safari 3.2.3 but still no address bar.
i've gone thru all of the preferences and even reset safari but no luck.
any help is appreciated.

I have this problem and have tried both solutions listed but it does not appear.
When I open the Customize the address and Google boxes appear, but when closing the Customize window they disappear again.
I have tried resetting Safari and no change.
I have tried closing the window without the address box, selecting an exising window with the box and starting a new window but the new window appears without the address or google box.

Address bar vanished!

I have a new Mac. My old MacBook was cleaned, my files were removed, and my husband now has it. He was clicking around and somehow lost the address bar! Now he is going through all of the settings but still having no luck figuring out what he did. Any ideas?? Also, it appears that iPhoto and GarageBand were removed when they cleaned it, can those be restored? Thanks!

What version of OS X are you using? You can figure this out by clicking on the Apple in the upper right hand corner and selecting "About this Mac". It will then bring up a window and at the top will tell you what version you are using.

Yesterday I loaded something to speed up my computer and lost my address bar and home page. I have now uninstalled the speed thing

It might be worth noting too Judy.. that just after I thought I had everything 'fixed', I actually encountered a further extension of my problem when I closed down and then re-opened my browser windows - and ended up back at the same place again..
SO . . . to fully resolve this, I had to completely uninstall FireFox . . .
(kept my private settings though - you really should keep those because they take ages to build up and develop..)
. . . because I discovered I had saved a copy of the FireFox 10.2 setup program - so I went forward with the process of uninstalling the version 11 from Hell... and am happily back with version 10 now. (But since you've experienced the same problem, it may prove worthwhile to note that the first time I booted up version 10, it TOO had no address bar displaying initially - but thankfully.. when I went into the CUSTOMIZE settings, Low.and.behold.. there it was as an option (labelled "Location") and when I clicked and dragged this "Location" icon to the toolbar, peace was restored in the Universe.
