I lost my contacts - how to I restore them from my computer backup?

I need to restore my contacts on my wife's iPhone. They mysteriously disappeared and I want to restore from her computer iTunes /backup - but when I plug the iPhone in - it begins to "backup". I'm afraid if I allow the "backup" to proceed it will wipe out the computer back-up and replace with her "empty" iPhone contacts.
Can I simply "restore" the lost contacts from the computer?

If you have them synced to a supported application on the computer. If the phone begins a backup as soon as you connect it, then you want to go into Settings in iTunes and turn off automatic syncing. From there, you can choose to either sync the contacts if you have them in Address Book, or Contacts, or Outlook, or restore them from iCloud, or if you have a backup of the phone, you can restore the phone to the last backup that had the contacts on it.

I just downloaded the latest 5 operating system to my 3 g phone and the photos did not sync from my computer on xp pro. What should I do

The lastest operating system is iOS 5 which cannot be run on an iPhone 3G

If you have problems with your iPhone you may need to restore.
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Erase All Content and Settings.
Do not try restoring from a backup, restore as a new device.
To see exactly which operating system is on the iPhone now connect it to your computer.
    Launch iTunes.
Select the iPhone under Devices then select the Summary tab from the iTunes menu.
The version number is noted there.
4.2.1 is the latest and AFAIK, that last update for an iPhone 3G.

  • How can I restore passwords from a computer backup?

I recently backup up my entire computer than did a factory reset. When I restored everything it did not return the mozilla saved bookmarks or passwords. I was able to find and restore the bookmarks but have not been able to restore the passwords. I am looking for a solution to finding and storing, copying, or printing out the list of passwords in the back up copy.
    Thank you

Thank you, it worked well, once I looked for the files to match.

I updated and now I've lost my contacts, how do I recover them?

The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer or cloud service regularly.  Your contacts will be in whatever program/cloud service that you have been syncing.
If you have failed to sync you contacts then they are likely gone.

Copy everything from the old computer or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

If you've been using the device as designed, the contacts are synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
    Simply sync them back.

  • I deleted my contacts and can't restore them from time capsule

    Please Help!!
I deleted around 4000 contacts by mistake with a script deleting the annoying duplicates that come with cloud syncs.
I can't restore them from my time capsule, I have read other posts and they suggest to copy the contacts folder in a back up from my time machine, Time Machine volume -> Users ->Yued1 -> Library -> Application Support -> CONTACTS, coping the folder in to my desktop and deleting the one in my computer all with out internet connection so iCloud won't cause problems, export the contacts, connect to the internet and then once connected let iCloud do its thing and then import the exported contacts, it all sounds good but when I mount my time capsule volume I get the folder backups.backupdb>Yued's Macbook Pro>(The backup folder of the date I choose)>Macintosh HD>Users>yued1 but Inside yued1 there is no Library folder, I did the command in terminal to show all files and folders, terminal accepted it relaunched finder but still won't see library, the only folder in my time capsule with library, is inside Macintosh HD but doesn't have a contacts folder inside application support.
    I have OS 10.9.4 processor 2.2 GHz i7 and 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I don't know what time capsule I have except that is a 1TB from 2011
I really appreciate your time helping me out. thank you!

    Thanks for your help,
It takes forever to go from one window to another back in time, once I get to the one I want and click restore It goes back to my desktop as it would when restoring something else but the contacts stay the same...
I do see all the deleted contacts in the snapshots, but can't restore them

  • How do I restore iPhoto from old computer to new?

I just bought a new computer and would like to merge all of the photos from my old Mac to my new one. How do I do this? I see USB connections but I don't have a usb to usb cord and I am not sure if that exists...? I do have a backup drive. I plugged it in but it is prompting me to backup this new computer, which hardly has anything on it and that is not what I want to do.
I would like to now 2 things-
    1) how do I back up from one computer to the other?
    2) how do I restore my photos from my backup drive to my computer...?

Are there photos on the new Machine?
    If not:
To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

  • My sister sync all my contact to her phone and then delete all my contact how can i restore them to my mobile., my sister sync all my contact to her phone and then delete all my contact how can i restore them to my mobile.

My sister sync all my contact to her phone with my apple id and then delete all of them how can i restore all my contact?

It sounds like she deleted them all from your icloud account. If you have an iTunes backup, try this to possible recover your deleted contacts. http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4108
If that doesn't work, you might be stuck as Apple doesn't usually have a backup plan for intentional user deletion. You can try to call Apple though and see if there is anything else they can do to try and recover that deleted info for you.
Good luck and let me know if there are any other questions I can help you with.

  • Upgraded my i phone to os8 thru i tunes and lost my contacts how can I find them

I upgraded my iphone 4s to IOS8 and lost my contacts.  How can I find them?

    There are two likely answers:
    1.  Your iPhone has too much storage being used.  Check Settings > General > Usage and make sure you have a reasonable amount of free storage left (roughly 15% of your total storage minimum).
    2.  If (1) is not the issue, then tell us what account used to house your contacts (e.g., iCloud).  You would need to make sure that same account is set up correctly on your iPhone right now.

  • HT4859 I turned on icloud and lost my contacts, how do I get them back?

I upgraded my system software then was asked if I want to use icloud to backup.  I said yes and all my contacts disappeared.  Where did they go and how do I get them back?

I had this problem post 6.1. Not sure if it was a coincidence, but I'd just recently changed my password after being convinced I'd been hacked, due to being told I was entering my password wrongly, repeatedly by iCloud / iTunes.  It turns out my iCloud account on my Settings -> Mail, Contacts and Calendars was listed as Inactive.  Putting in my details, turning off Contacts over iCloud (thus deleting them) and turning them back on again, repopulated my contacts from iCloud with numbers attached to them.

  • How do i restore pictures from an icloud backup?

Hi, does any one know how do i restore an icloud backup? i have not photo streamed any of my photos on my iphone 5 and whilst trying to sort this out i have ended up deleting about a 100 photos. Is there a way of retrieveing these through using the icloud back up?

The iCloud backup only includes camera roll photos, not photo stream photos.  If they were in the camera roll when you last backed up, restoring the backup should recover them.
