I lost my CS6 apps when two hard drives failed. Where can I download them?

I have two subscriptions that I use on three machines. My first subscription won't allow me to redownload my CS6 applications, which I need to continue my work. How can I redownload them and get them to activate on my first subscription?
If there is no easy way to get this to work, how do I go about canceling or suspending my subscription since the reason for getting the extra working seat is now gone, due to losing the ability to use the product in a timely manner?
I should mention that the uninstallers won't work, downloading the creative cloud app again does not work, all the advice I have gotten to date has not allowed me to alter the state of the remaining software that I copied off the damaged drive onto another working drive. Since I can't get the uninstallers to work, I have not been able to remove the apps that are there, and I can't just zero out the drive, I have other things there that need to stay.
thanks in advance

Here are the links to download CS6 applications.

Don't try coping application files from failed hard drives. Reinstall them on a clean OS install.
You really should be creating a disk image (backup) of your boot partition or keep a backup clone of your boot partition to avoid this kind of problem.

Well, yes, data does get corrupted sometimes.
The trick is finding what data.
By 'cleaned' are you therefor meaning that the drive has been erased and the system re-installed?
Because that's the quickest way to deal with such a situation.
Back up the system first of course,
Add back 3rd party apps one at a time in case one of them is causing the problem.

  • I had all my files, including bookmarks, backed up to my NAS when my hard drive failed. How do I import these bookmarks to Firefox on my new notebook? Is there a single HTML file I should be looking for on my NAS?

I had all my files, including bookmarks, backed up to my NAS when my hard drive failed. How do I import these bookmarks to Firefox on my new notebook? I can easily find the folder "Favorites" on my NAS, but can't get Firefox to "see" this folder, or my bookmarks.

If you open Firefox then Firefox will always use the default profile folder as found via profiles.ini on your system drive.
You either need to import the file in your current default profile or copy the file to your current profile folder while Firefox is closed.
Firefox 3 stores the bookmarks and the browser history in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/places.sqlite places.sqlite] and no longer creates an HTML backup by default.
There are also (five) JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder within the Firefox profile folder.
You can either copy the file places.sqlite to your [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] or import the most recent JSON backup from the bookmarkbackups folder of that old profile.

"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
Go to: Control Panel > Folder Options > "View" tab > under "Hidden files and folders", select "Show hidden files and folders".

Call Apple to purchase replacement discs or order a copy of Snow Leopard from Apple's Online Store. Follow these instructions:
Drive Preparation and Install Snow Leopard
    1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    7. When completed quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard. Once you boot from Snow Leopard you should open Software Update and install all the available updates required. After you complete this and restart the computer open the App Store application in the Dock or Applications folder.
    8. Sign into the App Store with your Apple ID and password. Purchase and download Lion.
    9. After Lion's installer downloads, install Lion.

Macs with a FireWire port will also boot happily from an External drive. You don't even need to open the MacBook.
Some users buy a drive they would like to have as a future Internal drive, and also buy an external enclosure. They get the External set up the way they want it, then swap with the Internal drive.

Doesn't sound like any hard drive failure to me - more a Finder preference.
Finder -> Preferences -> General -> Show these items on the desktop -> Hard disks
The startup disk is sometimes treated differently from other disks (such as external and network disks) and I'm guessing this is a simple preference setting, although I might be wrong.

  • Hard drive failed, how can I reinstall Windows 7?

The hard drive failed on my dad's laptop.  Replacing it isn't a problem, but I'm not sure how to get Windows 7 back onto it.  His laptop came with it installed already and he doesn't have any backup discs.  Will HP send discs so that I can reinstall the OS?  I'd rather not have to buy a new OS.

  • Lost Garageband and other apps when hardrive was replaced. How can I get them back?

I lost a few mac apps when I had to have my harddrive replaced..........since it went out and it was under a factory recall. And when they replaced it they couldn't get everything off the hard-drive. So is there a way I can get the apps back.

There are several ways to get those iLife and other App's from your original Disc Set.
    1. May or may not be an option, but at least get an estimate to replace your Optical SuperDrive from the local Apple Store or AASP.

  • How to restore the OS when your hard drive fails...

So I recently bought a Y50-70 from Newegg.  Being that I hate Windows 8/8.1 with a passion I made sure to find a laptop that runs Windows 7.  Lucky for me (and one of the reasons I bought this laptop) is that I should be able to run Windows 8.1, 7, and Linux without problems.  Woohoo.
I should note that this is my first Lenovo, so I'm not too privy to the intricacies of Lenovo products yet.  I've been told to avoid them like the plague and I'm trying to prove that things aren't as bad as my friends say, but I'm rapidly deciding their wisdom should have been heeded.
Just like every time I buy a laptop, the first thing I do is make a direct sector-for-sector copy of the hard drive.
After that I booted up and made the "recovery disk" in Windows 8.1 just for future security.  So 32GB thumbdrive is now dedicated for reinstalling Windows since the laptop comes with no recovery media.
    Ok, so far so good.
Now, I blew away all of the partitions and installed Windows 7.  It's not all peaches and cream and there's some problems.  So I thought I'd go back to Windows 8.1 and see if these problems are software or hardware in nature.
So I pulled out my trusty USB stick, and lo and behold you can't actually reinstall the OS if you've deleted the recovery partition.  I checked that box that says something about including a copy of the recovery partition, but you can't recover the OS even after doing that.  Every time I get a message about the harddrive being locked or no image being present (I forget the exact error because I'm about 24 hours from demanding a full refund and mailing this thing back).
So, assuming I have Windows 8.1 fully installed, what is the proper method to backup the OS in a fashion that is restorable on something like a disk failure where you install a new blank hard disk and then need to do a recovery.  Does this not exist for my laptop?  I've always been told that the Windows 8.1 recovery disk creator was the solution, but it clearly isn't.
Anyone know the proper method for this scenario?

    Hi,
Sorry to hear this hasn't worked out like it's supposed to.  I've used recovery flash drives without problems, but have also seen that the "drive locked" problem does occur.  I'm not sure that it's a Lenovo issue.  Seems to be more a generic Windows restore problem that happens with some drive configurations.
That doesn't help you - I chimed in to say that if you haven't already, you might call support and explain your situation.  I can't/don't speak for Lenovo, but when I've had recovery issues in the past with a new laptop they've provided the recovery media gratis.
(Apologies if I missed that you've already called...)

  • Does anyone know what actually breaks when a hard drive fails?

My macbook's hard drive has just died. It seems this is an all too common problem with macbooks and as everyone seems to go through the same sequence of events when the failure happens I just wondered what it is that actually goes wrong, and why. What is the ticking sound that I can now hear that wasn't there before? My Macbook sits on a cooling stand on my desk and hasn't been moved for weeks so why should it work one minute and die the next for no apparent reason? Could the heat that the current Apple Macbooks and MBP's generate be contributing to these failing hard drives? I have always felt that the high temperatures that the Macbooks work at can't be good for the internal parts, you would think that something would eventually fry or melt. If it is the heat that causes these failure then this is a serious issue as all the current Macbook line run very hot.

Apple uses the same drives as every other computer manufacturer. You mentioned that you upgraded to more RAM. That is one way to reduce the wear and tear on a hard drive. Unfortunately, as was mentioned, hard drives are remarkably complex devices. You have a platter spinning at 5400 or 7200 RPMs (that's 90 or 120 times a second ! ). You have a read head that is floating just a few air molecules above that super fast disk. Every year, hard drive manufacturers cram more and more data storage capability into less and less space. All things considered... hard drives are remarkably reliable. Unfortunately, as with all electronic devices (mechanical or solid state)... some are going to fail. There is simply no way around that with today's production technologies. The most important thing you can do is always keep a back up of your data on some form of external media.... be it a flash drive, CD/DVD, or an external hard drive. Hard drives are fairly inexpensive... and they are easy to replace in a MacBook. What is not so easy to replace (and in the case of business use... not so inexpensive) is your data. So long as you have your data backed up, a dead hard drive becomes nothing more than a minor inconvenience.

  • Transferring iTunes files to external hard drive - now iTunes can't find them

I believe I have really effed up my iTunes library.  My basic question is once the links in iTunes have been broken are there only two ways to get them back (one being going through every title and locating it on the drive vs two starting fresh and copying all the song files into iTunes and recreating all the play lists).
I have over 10,000 titles accumulated over many years and sorted into a couple dozen playlists to keep track of each family member's music on various pods / phones etc.  I was running out of internal hard drive space so I tried moving the files over to an external drive in order to free up the internal drive.  I thought I was following the instructions correctly, but something has gone horribly wrong.  I'll try to take you through the steps as best as I can.
I had changed the iTunes preferences to show the external drive, and when importing new songs they were stored on that external drive.  I thought everything was working fine as all the files showed in the Finder on the external srive so I deleted the files from the internal drive.  Of course this was the wrong thing to do as at that point iTunes could only locate the newly imported files and none of the old ones.
So I began to panic and searched the support and communities and tried a number of things that were recommended including copying the files back to the same spot on the internal drive, changing the preferences, and I also tried consolidating the files under the File / Library / Consolidate FIles.  This made another folder in the iTunes folder called music (my previous folder was called iTunes music inside the iTunes folder).  I have tried these steps on both the internal drive as well as the external drive.  So now on either drive, iTunes will reconzie maybe 20-25% of the files.  I think these 25% have been moved to the new folder iTunes and the file number has a 1 appended to the end.  So now for each file I have 2 to 4 copies.  One copy is in the Itunes music folder on the internal drive.  A second copy is in the iTunes music folder on the external drive.  I believe that iTunes cannot find either of these ones.  The third copy with a 1 appended is in the Music folder on the internal drive and the fourth copy (also with a 1 appended) is in the Music folder on the external drive and as I said I think iTunes "sees" these files.
So my question is, is there only two ways to fix this (both of which are incredibly time consuming) - one to point each unknown file to the external drive (about 8,000 files at least to do), or the other is to start from nothing and drag all the music files in and recreate the playlists (I think this would be more work since some of the songs were on multiple playlists).  Is there nothing else other than a month of solid work in front of me!?!

just download one of the following apps which will solve your problem of converting videos as this apps plays almost every video files, first 2 apps are paid ones
    GOOD player (very good)
    AV player
    VLC player (free in tunes)
