I lost my hadr drive.

While it had began to die I backed up all my iTunes songs to a large Flash dreiv. After I got the system up again with a new HD I installed the latest iTunes. I tried to reinstal from the Flash dive and got mothing in iTunes. Then I saw I could redownload all songs, so I did that. I now have a list of all those sones in the MUSIC tab. However when I try to play anything it says it can not find the original file.
I have a coulple thousand dollars tied up in songs that I now can not play.
Help please. God knows you can get no help from Apple. They are the sole company I know that puts software out for Windows (7 64 bit) and does not support it. Unless you own an Apple computer, they could care less. Had I known this years ago I would have never have bought one song.

Very few companies provide support for how to backup and restore your data, or free applications come to that...
Anyway the "cannot find original file" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. The usual causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place. Lastly, not using a proven backup and restore strategy can leave the library in an inconsistent state.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions, or move things to where iTunes is looking for them.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from your ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

Prevent automatic syncing one time, without changing settings: Open iTunes. Then, as you connect iPhone to your computer, press and hold Shift-Control (on a PC) until you see iPhone appear in the sidebar. Then, use iTunes File menu > Transfer Purchases from XXX's iPhone. This will transfer your purchased items.
For your other stuff you will need a 3rd party utility. Find discussion of them here

You won't be able to recover you entire library from your iPad but you can recover some of its contents by transferring the purchases back to iTunes. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 This will not transfer anything you did not purchase from iTunes, for example music or video files you had stored on the HD and you put into iTunes. Without a backup that information is gone. One very important thing to keep in mind. Once you sync the iPad to the new iTunes it will remove all the afore mentioned music or video files from the iPad. Do not sync with iTunes if you want to keep those files. Hope that helps.

Quick thing to try: from the Finder, select the View menu and then select "Clean Up" in case it has wandered somewhere almost off the desktop. Also, if it is "hiding" behind something, it will be revealed.

Kappy Thanks for help.. I had already tried the Disk Utility but external drive did not show. What worked was to shut down every thing and shut off power to all. Disconnect power to the external drive. Connected power to computer and then restarted the computer. After the computer was up and running, I reconnected power to external drive and then turn it on. At this point the external drive returned to my desk top

Itunes wont run and now i lost my cd drive

I installed itunes to my windows xp computer and after the installation I tried to run the program. It would not run and now I lost my cd drive. I deleted itunes and then in order to get my drive back I would have to use the windows restore program. But, every time I try to reinstall itunes it does the same thing... program wont work and lose my cd drive. Please help me someone...

Success! I've finally got itunes up and running on my computer. What I did was go to my control panel and clicked on 'other control panel options.' Here I found the java plug-in icon which I updated, it's pretty straightforward to do that, if you click on it, you'll find the option to do that. I then clicked on the Windows start menu and on programs which said 'apple software update'. I clicked on this and it said searching for software. It found the new version of Quick Time and a security update for it. I installed both of them and double clicked on itunes and instead of expecting it to show the usual error message it started launching! I'm well pleased. My cd drive is still missing but I should be able to find a way to restore it. Hope this info helps someone who's having similar problems!

Before upgrade Mac OS, I had three hard drives C:, H and G. Drive H is for Mac operation system. C and G are NTFS for windwos operation system.

In order to recover the tags/albums, etc, you need to have the catalog db. Since currently you only have images, the organization done in the older catalog is probably lost.
Which version of PSE you have and is there any chance, that you have access to catalog location (default is : %programdata%\adobe\elements organizer\catalogs on Windows and ~/library/app support/adobe/organizer/catalogs on MAC) ?

I lost my dolby driver after Windows 10 upgrade

I own a s7-391. I just updated to windows 10. I lost my dolby driver. For some reason my laptop doesnt sound as loud as it once did. Could be this be the issue?

I'm facing the same problem too. I'm using Aspire V5-573PG. After upgrade to windows 10, the dolby home theater v4 stop working. I tried to uninstall the old driver and download the driver for windows 10. But no help at all, the dolby home theater v4 software wasn't in my computer. Hope they will patch the software ASAP.P.S: The proble probably came from cortana. The dolby software auto turn off when I use google now on google chrome last time, but it can be turn on again, but not this time...

Try performing a system restore to the date where the unit was working fine in case this does not help request to provide the device ID.
Open Device Manager
In the Device Manager menu, whichever way you got to it, find the driver that is missing (yellow question mark).
-Right click on that driver and go to “Properties”
-In the properties menu, click on the “Details” tab.
-In the details tab, click the dropdown and select “Device Id’s
When you have that sub menu opened up below, you should see a sentence containing a couple things you need.
-This is what it would look like for example:
-PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_03D1&SUBSYS_14041565&REV_A2 (Might be a couple extra lines containing similar stuff, but the main things you need are the VEN and DEV
Request you to Copy it and provide the ID so that i can provide you the right link for the download.

This is not a reply. I just want to elaborate on this problem.
My computer freezes occasionally when it is used after being sleep for a while. The spinning ball appears and everything is totally disabled. Nothing on the keyboard works.
The mouse moves, but does not work.
The only solution is to turn the power off and on (losing all data in open applications.)
I kept the System monitor running on the side to find out which program was running when the computer froze. The Monitor as well as all other applications froze, but the data showed:
Firefox 18.4%
Activity Monitor 0.9%
Firefox Plugin 0.2%
This is all the information I have. By the way, I am using iMac with OS 10.6.
