The only way to locate/disable/erase any lost/stolen iPhone/iPod Touch is through Find My Phone or a similar app. However, this requires that Find My Phone be setup/activated, on your phone, before it was lost/stolen. You would then login at iCloud.com & try to locate it. This requires the phone be turned on & have an Internet connection. There is no other way to locate a lost/stolen iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, nor will your carrier. Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords.
If your carrier offers Blacklisting & they Blacklist the phone, it will be unusable as a phone.
If locked with a passcode, and running iOS 7.0, then phone cannot be activated or the passcode removed without knowing your Apple iD/Password. It will be nothing but a useless paperweight.
If not running iOS 7.0, the phone can be forced into recovery mode & restored.

If you still have the box of the device you purchased it will be included in there. But if you have lost your iphone Apple will NOT track you phone, the only way you can find your phone is by using "Find My iPhone" if you have it setup and all the requirements are met. Other than that, contact you local law enforcement, there is nothing that Apple can do.

If your phone is not jailbroken hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until the phone resets, as long as 30 seconds. If that doesn't resolve the problem see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.
If the phone is jailbroken google is your best solution, but there may be no solution.

I've been searching for an answer to this question for the better part of 3 hours now. W
Several iterations of osx ago, there was the ability to separately limit how many recent items were shown for Applications, Documents and Servers. Over the years, I simply installed a newer version of osx on top, and surprisingly my recent items always eliminated the Documents from the list.
I've since done a clean install of mavericks after installing an SSD, and i've lost this small but important part of my work flow. No matter what I've tried to remove the documents from Recent Items, it always shows up. I can still boot into my old HDD (which is now installed as a supplementary drive and also updated and running mavericks 10.9.2), and see from clicking on the Apple Menu > Recent Items that it only displays Applications and Servers.
Try as hard as I can, I can't simply figure out how to remove the documents from the recent items menu. I've tried editing the com.apple.recentitems.plist file, to show 0 items for documnets, but this never seems to work. (I've since read that this file is simply rewritten on logout.) Strangely, if I go into the old setup System Preferences, Recent Items: it is showing as None. I also suspect that maybe I used Tinker Tools or some other utility to change some command line preference (using the gui) several years back. Not sure how I could investigate what would need to be done to compare files or otherwise figure out how to remove the documents section from the recent items menu.
It's starting to drive me crazy. Anyone?

HOw do you remove the badge number icon for a program that you do not want to update from the app store.
I have an app that is updated but i don't want the update (new ugly artwork and I am content with what the present artwork and app does)...I don't want the update. How do I remove/refuse the update and remove the number badge?

new directions:
1. go to itunes
2. click applications
3. right click on the application you want to use
4. press show in windows explorer
5. Copy the ipa to desktop
6. right click and press open with
7. open file with winrar, winzip, what ever, something so you can see all the files
8. open iTunesMetadata.plist with PLIST EDITOR
9. search for "itemId"
10. Delete the number under "itemId" in between </integer>
11. leave One number remaining. (any number)
12. save.
13. double click your new ipa
14. sync
15. No more update badge
DONE.
remember to backup everything you change. just in case.

I bought a copy of photoshop cs5 a while back and never loaded it. It is a student edition and I am still taking classes in which I need to use the program. I am no longer able to complete work in the class room so I do need to load it at this time. It looks like where I got into wants me to buy another copy.
