Your images are truly no longer present on the hard drive(s)? Have you had your operating system do a search for them?
If such a search fails to find them, here's what I would do, in order
Look in the trash can/recycle bin
Restore from backups
If you don't have backups ... well, why not? ... find a program on the internet called an "undelete utility" (free versons are available) and then download and install it and run it. If you are going to do this, then do not perform any other tasks on your computer except find the program, download it (if possible to a different drive than the photos were stored on), install it (if possible to a different drive than the photos were stored on), and run it. In the future, you will need to commit to making regular backups of your photos and of your Lightroom catalog file, no excuses.
If that doesn't work, but the thumbnails still appear in Lightroom, you can probably recover the thumbnails from Lightroom via a plug-in, but these would be low-resolution versions of your photos, if you really need instructions on this step, write back

As for Aperture, you'll need to do a search on the support website yourself because the result is a download so I couldn't post a link - the instructions are in the user manual. I believe the settings are within Aperture's Preferences.

Boot the MBP with the OPTION+COMMAND+R keys down. The result should be a display showing a revolving globe. By following the instructions, you will be able to reinstall the original OSX. Then you may reinstall Yosemite.
A solid Internet connection will be required.

I tried to download images from a jump drive and now the jump drive seems blank. How can I recover the images? Is there a software program out there to do this reliably?

I took photographs with my Lumix camera (JPG) and put the sd chip into a jump drive and put them into my usb port to load. The images never loaded and now the sd chip has no images when I put it back into the camera. What can I do to restore the images? Is there Mac compatible software out ther to restore them? I'm not sure I can help you with this situation. Odds are you probably can't recover the images if they aren't hidden in the card, but this just seems to be a fluke. I've had flash drives that be plugged in only to find out that was their iminant death.

I installed a new bigger hard drive and now spotlight does not work with outlook to search for emails

My old hard drive was full so I went to an apple authorized provider to install a new bigger hard drive. They also moved the data and applications from my old drive to the new one. They did not use time capsule because their way was faster. After the installation I did have to reenter the product code key for Office 2011 for the Mac. However, now I find that I cannot do email spotlight searches in Outlook. When I put in the search - it comes up with no results. This is true no matter what the search. Any ideas of how to point spotlight to look in the email folders so I can do searches again. This is a feature I use daily - so I am concerned that I have lost this feature. Also, I am noticing that alot of the settings did not carry over to the new hard drive. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I would recommend starting over and migrate using your Time Capsule backup however DO NOT do it wirelessly, connect using an Ethernet Connection. If you upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard then follow the instructions in this video, the kid is annoying but he knows what he's doing. Clean Install Of Snow Leopard video. Once you have installed and updated Snow Leopard then update using the 10.6.8 Update Combo, then log into the Mac App Store and re-install Lion and all it's updates. My guess this is an afternoons work.

If that doesn't help it may pay to tear down and reinstall iTunes in the following manner...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

New Hard Drive and now CS3 will not open.

I replaced the hard drive in my iMac Pro (tower). Running OS 10.7.5. The Adobe Creative Suite 3 will not open - Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the error message is "Licensing for this product has stopped working."

Put the library on an external HD that is formatted OS X Extended (journaled) with ownership set to be ignored and run it from there.
Once you've copied the library to the EHD launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and select the EHD library to open. Confirm that it's working properly and all is well with it before deleting the library from your boot drive.
There is no cloud solution to what you want to do.

How to install dmd image from external hard drive to imac with no os installed

I have a G5 iMac that the hard drive crashed. I have replaced the hard drive and now trying to install the 10.5.8 dmd image back from a external hard drive since I don't have a disk. I have not been able to figure how to boot up and install this way.

Hi Keith, and all others chiming in, I do have the correct option checked in advanced settings telling iPhoto to copy the images into the library. What is a refernced library? Perhaps this is where I am getting confused. I exported my entire photo library from an old iMac5 to my external hard drive, from there I attempted to import the entire library to my new iMac. Am I overlooking an obvious and easy way to import from the hard drive to the new iMac--I dragged the entire photo pholder from the hard drive to the open window of iPhoto on the new computer. Now, I only get preview file sizes in iPhoto, unless I have my external drive open. Perhaps I need to import the original images from the hard drive in a different way...?! (This is making me feel pretty stupid.)

If you still have the receipt or other proof of purchase, you can ask Apple to send you the serial. Otherwise, bad luck mate.. Good news is, you can now buy Logic Pro 9 from App Store for just 199 USD

Safe way to 'bin' images from my hard drive

I've found that 193GB of images stored in my hard drive needs to be removed for good (these images are on my separate hard drive), my question is how do I now safely remove these images from my hard drive? - and where are they?

On your hard drive I would presume... If you mean you don't know where on the hard drive, then I would suggest making a smart folder for your hard drive that only includes images. Then drag the files in this folder to the trash. Then, with the hard drive still connected, empty the trash. If you want these to never be recovered again, choose the finder option in the menu bar and choose secure empty trash.
193GB is a lot of data. It will take a good while to create the smart folder and even longer to secure empty trash. A standard empty shouldn't take to long.

I moved my FCP events and projects folder onto my external hard drive and now everything is gone on FCP. When I tried to reload those folders onto FCP nothing happened. I still get the missing files image.

Brownale6 how can u reload folder in to FCP.
As you said folders are moved to external disk but have you checked it should be like this
For Event
external disk>Final Cut Events>your event folder.
For project
external disk>Final Cut Projects>your project folder.

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
