I lost my iPad2 on an airplane in airplane mode. How can I find it? The "find my" feature doesn't work because the wi-fi is not activated. Is it possible to put my information into another iPad2 to see if it will de-activate the airplane mode, or am I just reaching?

If you have not enabled Find My iPad, you can't track your iPad.

Yea, just go into settings > general > passcode lock > type in your passcode > press the turn passcode off button, you will need to type your passcode one more time.

Last 23 june 2011 I went from Budapest (leave at 9.10) to Salburgo (arrived at 15.20), and unfortunately I forgot may IPAD (Tablet), on a sit of de first class train. I was the last person to get off, so, the Ipad stayed in the Train.
I advise to personal in platform because the train was gone, they sent me to de office ticket. I report at 16.00 at the info point and at the ticket office.
In those places, they told me, than because the Club luggase was close for holliday I must come next day. Also, They toll me, that the train was take to kep it, for to be cleaned, and it was not posible to check it in that moment at the terminal for hollyday.
Nex day i went to club luggase, and they told me, I must to call on monday, because next day would be a weekend. On monday I called but told me, they dont have any register about a IPAD, please help me.
It come in a grey color case, when you open, it show a picture of my Mother, sister and myself.

I've lost my iPad2...?

I've lost my iPad2...likely left it in a cab (very stupid). I'm trying all I can to track it down. When searching for its location via mobileme I get "No location available." I've recieved confirmation emails that it has been locked, and I've sent several messages to appear on its screen. At this point I figure its finder is happy to have a new iPad2, but hope this person will choose to contact me and return the device (I've done all I can in contacting the taxi company and driver, and have retraced my steps several times).
1- is the "No location available" message due a dead battery, or could the device have been 'hacked' already?
2- having locked the device, will it's finder be able to use it (including hacking and reformatting the iPad?
3- does anyone have suggestions for me in this situation - i.e. what messages to send, any other steps to take?

It very well could have been "hacked" - or if the 3G/Wifi are turned off, then it will show as "no location available."
The finder can restore it to new, basically wiping out everything you have.. so if it's locked, he/she can't see your info, but can erase it all and then do whatever he/she wants with it.
Call the police and give them any info you have on it (serial number, etc)... consider notifying your insurance company, depending on your deductible, and possibly your credit card company (some of which will provide reimbursement for stolen merchandise purchased on that card). But otherwise, there's nothing you can do.
Sorry about your loss, and hopefully a good Samaritan will find it and return it to you.
Forgot to ask - have you contacted the cab company? If you did and offer a small reward, it's possible the driver might "find" it...

If Lost Mode has been activated on his iPhone, the phone would be automatically locked, preventing it from being put in Airplane Mode (the phone could still be powered off, though). What is your brightness setting & how many apps are open?
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod. If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number). If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief. All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself. This requires action before the device is lost/stolen. If you have particular concern, the iPad should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

Sorry no, there is no way to take it out of airplane unless you physically do so.

Although all settings are proper as far as I can confirm, I have lost all keyboard clicks and alert sounds. Neither airplane mode or DND mode is on. Ideas?

Sounds have disappeared, keyboard clicks, swooshes, etc. and all settings seem OK with no airplane mode or do not disturb. So what is going on?

Found little switch above volume buttons on side of phone and switched it to right and sounds came back. Never used that switch in 2 years, barely see it with phone case. But that's what it's for!
