I lost my ipod and it is in the lost mode.  what should I do?

I lost my ipod in sixflags, so I seted it in lost mode using the "Find my iphone "app, and let it notify me once it is connect to WIFI....Tonight, I got an email saying that my ipod was connected wifi and setted to the lost mode. So i try to track it but it was offline. i also saw the username/ ipod user name is changed. So is it possible to find it back???

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with a bank or any other savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  This requires action before the device is lost/stolen.  If the device has significant personal information, it should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.

i just jail broke my iPod and its stuck on the apple logo what should i do?

The same thing happened to me. I assume it is stuck in an endless loop of restarting. You have to put it in connect to iTunes mode (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm2D7-PCTaw) then restore your iPod. Hope it helps!

  • I just purchased a secondhand iPad in carboot and I didn't realised that the old account is still linked to the device now can't  activate my accnt.i don't know where  and how to contact the original owner.what should I do?is there any other option?

I just purchased a second hand iPad in carboot.i didn't realised that the old accnt is still linked to the device, now I icant activate my account .I don't  know where and how to contact the original owner.what should I do activate my accnt?is there any other option?

Apple cannot help you locate the original owner. If you have no way to contact him/her, and you purchased directly from the seller rather than through a site that offers buyer protection, then the iPad is useless to you and you have wasted your money. The iPad is quite probably stolen and you should turn it in to the police.
This is why it's very risky and usually unwise to purchase out of a car boot from someone you don't know.

  • My iPad has a large and noticeable dent down the middle. What should I do??!!

So my iPad 2 that I just recently got has a very noticeable dent on the bottom of it going up(almost in half) in landscape mode. The dent won't let third party hard cases slide on it, and the screen is bleeding extra, and there is a white dot on the screen in the general area of the dent on the back.
What should I do, that isnt too expensive.
I do think this dent was caused by me but I am not sure, I have never really looked from the side of it before...
    Thanks.

Take it to an apple store for repair.  It will cost you but it will be cheaper than buying a new one.

  • HT201406 Trying to update an iPad to os7.   Need 4 digit pass code.  I don't have one and am locked in the update?  What should I do?

Trying to update to Os7.  Program is asking for four digit pass code and I do not have one set up.  Now I an locked in the update.   What should I do?

Check to make sure you are not being asked to set up a pass code. Look for a very small Skip button. If the Skip button is there you are being asked to create a passcode. Either enter the four digits you want to use (and remember them) or tap on Skip.

Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • My ipod touch is stuck in the apple logo, what should I do?

My ipod touch 4G, iOS 4.2.1, is stuck in the apple logo, and it turns on and off alone, but it is still in the logo, it doesn't proceed. This happened because I restored through the ipod not iTunes. Itunes doesn't find the Ipod, even though if I wait a long time. What should I do?

    Hi,
    Try resetting your iPod:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430.
    Hope this helps!

  • I dropped my iphone 4 and the screen wont turn on, but i can still recieve calls and texts based from the sounds. What should i do?

My iphone 4 was dropped on the bottom right corner, and the screen did not crack at all. The screen won't turn on, but alerts and noises come from the phone when i get a notification. What can i do?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If this does not resolve the issue, take the device to Apple for an Out of Warranty replacement.

  • My White 4G Ipod Touch has a strange smell to it and is warm to the touch. What should i do?

The smell isnt like a burning smell but i cant really describe it. The smell is around the ipod but you can only smell it if your nose is really close to it. I'm worried that the smell that is radiating from it is hazardous to my health.  I just turned it off for a while and its cool now but the smell is slightly still there.  Anyone else having this problem, or knows what i should do? Oh and also the bottom venting part is where the smell is the strongest.

With heavy use the iPod can get quite warm. If you are concerned you can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. The smell is likely normal butt I can't smell it where I am.

  • Bought a new Ipod and wanted to upgrad the softwares too - what a mess!

    Please advise to install QuickTime!!!
Anything seems to help to my problem with the QuickTime installation error (code 3 when installed with iTunes and code 1402 and 1603 when updated separately), even I have tried all the tricks and steps found on this forum to the same error codes.
So, my error messages 1402 relates to the hkeylocalmachines/software/classes/QuickTime.gt/DefaultIcon - I have all the possible rights to my pc, but still anything can't be done with this in Regedit. I can't open the Quictime.gt at all nor check rights,as it's not opening.
When I cleaned my pc, with the guidance found here, of all the files left after removing the softwares I noticed that in Regedit there is lot of files directly under Classes named with QuickTime* - should those removed as well?
    Thanks in advance! Brgs, JaanaLiisa
ps. eveything worked ok with the old iTunes and QuickTime, so this upgrade was very bad thing to do

When QT7 first came out, I ran into the same problem you are having. What I did was remove QT using the add/remove control panel, then did a search for all files all folders that were left behind and deleted them as well.
Next I went into the registry. HKEYLOCALMACHINE+Software and deleted Apple Computer,Inc. I then went to the Edit menu of the registry, selected Find and type in QuickTime. To locate registry entree's left behind.
After selecting Find from the Edit menu of the registry and type in QuickTime, you then hit the enter key on the keyboard. When a QT entree appears you delete it. You then hit the F3 key on the keyboard, which locates the next key. You keep repeting this process untill you have deleted all QT. There are many.
Once I had everything related to QT completely removed from the computer, I then ran.

The registry is risky to go into if a mistake is made it could involve re-installing the OS, so you may want to back it up, if you can count on that. Some people have used this link and claimed good results.

  • My ipod is getting stuck on startup and i cannot even access the recovery mode. what can i do to resolve this problem?

    Hi.
My ipod touch 5 is getting stuck on startup and i cannot even access the recovery mode.
what should i do to resolve this problem?

    Try what you missed here:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

why i cannot download the application which is free? I make apple id and im trying to download but it show that i have to review my apple id and they are asking the account number. what should i do? please help.

To use an Apple ID, in the iTunes/App store, requires a payment method be associated with your ID. That can be either a credit card, or if no credit card, you can redeem an iTunes gift card. So, do you have a payment method associated with your account?

  • So if i had lost my ipod, and i had bought the applecare for my ipod, do you think i would be able to get a new ipod since i have the applecare on it? or to get a new one would i have to give thee device in then get a new one?

so if i had lost my ipod, and i had bought the applecare for my ipod, do you think i would be able to get a new ipod since i have the applecare on it? or to get a new one would i have to give thee device in then get a new one?

Applecare has nothing to do with a lost or stolen device.
You would have to buy a new ipod.

Have you not got a backup of your content on, for example, external drives ? If not then you could have a look to see if any of the utilities mentioned in this old post still exist and work : https://discussions.apple.com/message/11014893?messageID=11014893#11014893

  • Ive lost my ipod and i havent downloaded the "find my ipod" what should i do?

ive lost my ipod and i havent downloaded the "find my ipod" what should i do?

You do not need to download anything. All you needed to do is go to Settings>iCloud and turned on the FindMyiPod feature. If on and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud, sign in and click on FindMyiPhone.
    See:
iCloud: Troubleshooting Find My iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac
Restoring the iPod will permently delete the Find feature.
Otherwise report to police, look for it the old fashioned way and change the passswords for all accounts used on the iPod.
    Apple will not help
