    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.

    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.

    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.

    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • I lost my ipod can i somehow track it

i lost it and i have the serial number and everything but it is 4g but i  never signed it into icloud

If you had already set up the FindMyiPod feature and wifi is on you may be able to locate it by going to icloud.com and signing in and going to FindMyiPhone. However, that can be defeated by turing the iPod off or restoring it.
Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report it to the police.
    Apple will not help
The SN will only allow you to idenitify the iPod as your if it is recovered.

I HAVE LOST MY IPOD HOW DO I TRACK but i have icloud

If you enabled "Find My iPhone" on your iPod touch and if it has a internet connection at the moment, then you have a chance to track your device. Therefor log in to your iCloud account (www.icloud.com) on your Mac/PC and try to locate your iPog Touch.

  • If I remote wipe my ipod can I still track it with icloud?

If I remote wipe my ipod can I still track it with icloud? Or can it still be tracked through the MAC address?

"So even if someone stole it and could access everything like shut off the find my ipod and location services. Then was able to do a full system wipe would that as well restore to factory setting?"
Someone can restore it  and use it as their own.
"Also if the ipod is still registered can someone else register it on itunes?"
    Yes, they can.
"Is the ipod traced through it's MAC addres with icloud?"
    No, it is not.

I lost my ipod, can I use my old account with my new ipod?

Yes.  There is no limit to the number of iPods, iPads, or iPhones you can sync with one computer, iTunes library, or account. Simple connect it and sync it as you wish.

  • I lost my ipod touch but no tracking device

i lost my ipod and it has noo tracking device?

my biggest question now is, what does apple do about this kind of situation?
As had been said already, Apple can do nothing to assist in this type of matter. They don't even flag things as stolen, since they cannot take your word for it.

even if i had installed "find my ipod" app on the ipod touch, doing a restore would erase everything on the device and there is no way i can track it...
That is correct; they can turn it off. There is no practical way to set up an anti-theft system that cannot be disabled. Find My iPod is not promoted as an anti-theft system but as an anti-loss system, though in some cases thieves have been unaware of the service, not turned it off, and have been caught.
    please help...
Sorry, but there is nothing anyone can do to help you except the police, whom you will have to hope get lucky.
    Regards.

  • If I lost my iPod, can I reload a new one from iTunes?

  • HT201269 If I lost my Ipod, can I still back up my information?

I lost my Ipod, what should I do? I do not want to lose my information!!!

If you have a backup (either iCloud or iTunes backup) restore another iPod, iPhone or iPad from backup of your iPod.  See:
    iOS: How to back up
For photos in the iPod Camera Roll album
    - If they are in the iTunes backup then get them from the backup by:
Recover iPhone, iPad or iPod photos from backups with Picturescue
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

  • Lost/stolen iPod - Can you track serial number to current owner/thief?

Recently I have either lost or had my iPod stolen while traveling across country. I had a brand new 30GB - Black iPod that disappeared from Point A to Point B. I took a red-eye, so either could have easily happened given the delays, weather conditions and tight connections experienced on this particular trip.
Is there a way to search for the Serial Number via the internet for recent downloads from iTunes, etc...?
I have replaced my 30GB with an 80GB and Nano, but would love to have it back to give to my wife or son.
Any suggestions on how to recoop or track down?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I used to work at an Apple Store and we were asked about this a lot. The other responses are correct, there is no way to track an ipod by Serial Number. The SN isn't recorded when you download items from the itunes store, that goes by your user account.
Now, if the person who has your ipod sets up an itunes user account (and doesn't lie about their information - don't forget you can go to the store and buy an itunes giftcard and it won't require a credit card to make a purchase) and also registers the ipod under their name (and doesn't lie about their information) there MIGHT be a way for Apple to track it down. But, honestly, that involves a lot of work and the assumption that the new user hasn't faked any of their personal information. Do you think they're going to do that for you? Probably not.
Sorry about your loss but all the SN is good for on an ipod is tracking warranty and repair information.

  • If someone erases my ipod can i still track it?

My daughter misplaced her iPod touch about 2 days ago.  I have the latest iOS installed as well as "Find My iPhone" installed with location services turned on.  Due to the device being an iPod touch I will only be able to locate it once it is connected to the internet.  I've sent the "Play a sound" as well as a "Please call ##### when found" but it still says pending.  If someone does in fact find it and doesn't "do the right thing" and erases it to keep for themselves, will I ever be notifed of it's location again so I can re-claim her iPod?  Thank you so much for reading and helping us out.
    Aaron

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If someone erases the iPod, your Apple ID won't be on the iPod, so the message you sent through Find my iPhone won't be received. Furthermore, you won't be able to track your iPod because it's under another Apple ID
