I lost my Ipod, i dont have the "find my ipod" app. What should I do?

So i lost my ipod 4. What should i do? It really ****** me off because i think someone stole it...

No app is required.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
- Apple will do nothing without a court order

If you didn't set up Find My iPhone in the iCloud settings, then you can't. Notify the police and change the password to your Apple ID and any other online services you used from that iPhone, just as a precaution.

Did you have Find My iPhone enabled on your iPhone in its settings? If so, go to www.icloud.com and use your Apple iCloud ID to use the Find My iPhone app.

If I have enabled Lost Mode on an iPad via the Find My iPhone App what is able to be accessed on the iPad should someone steal it and try to use it?

It is my understanding from these documents that if it is on and connected to the internet you can track it. In there it tells how tell if it is online by the color of the dot.

I still think this person is bluffing, but what confuses me is how this person knew how to contact you (?) You must not have had any security on it at all when lost.

If the device has been connected to your computer and a backup was saved, open the itunes program and click edit>preferences>devices
This will show the date and time of the last backup you created, hover the cursor over the backup and it will show your serial number.
If you have the original box you can find it on the back also.

Police don't "track down" lost items, per se. They'll keep your information on file in the event that someone finds your iPod and turns it in. Otherwise, there's nothing the police can or will do in regards to finding lost property.

And again, the downloadable app has nothing to do with making your iPhone discoverable by find my iphone. The app is used by a device to find another device which has had the trackable feature enabled in its iCloud account settings. Simply having the app on a device does NOT make that device trackable. I dont know the opperating system but I only got it recently...
I also have a mac book pro also without iCloud.

Without Find My iPad having been enabled on it then there isn't any way to locate it - and that would only work if it's connected to a network and hasn't been wiped or had Find My iPad disabled on it.
If you think that it was stolen then you should report it to the police. You should also contact your carrier and change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.
