I lost my ipod with no tracking application

I lost my ipod today and I wish I could locate but I have no tracking applications above is there a way to recover anyway (excuse my mistakes I'm French and I used google translation because I could not find the French forum).

- You do not need any app. If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod and wifi is on and connect go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and hae to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- Apple will do nothing

  • My new laptop is Windows 7. I've just updated iTunes to 10.7.0.21 x64. ipod  with 3000  tracks no longer recognised. I want to copy from iPod to laptop. Is it possible?

My Toshiba laptop is Windows 7. I had to remove first attempt at loading iTunes 10.7.0.21 but second attempt seemed OK. My iPod with 3000+ tracks was reognised by my old laptop but is not recognised by iTunes on my Toshiba. I want to copy from iPod to iTunes to maintain the library. Is this possible?

  • Lost/stolen iPod - Can you track serial number to current owner/thief?

Recently I have either lost or had my iPod stolen while traveling across country. I had a brand new 30GB - Black iPod that disappeared from Point A to Point B. I took a red-eye, so either could have easily happened given the delays, weather conditions and tight connections experienced on this particular trip.
Is there a way to search for the Serial Number via the internet for recent downloads from iTunes, etc...?
I have replaced my 30GB with an 80GB and Nano, but would love to have it back to give to my wife or son.
Any suggestions on how to recoop or track down?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I used to work at an Apple Store and we were asked about this a lot. The other responses are correct, there is no way to track an ipod by Serial Number. The SN isn't recorded when you download items from the itunes store, that goes by your user account.
Now, if the person who has your ipod sets up an itunes user account (and doesn't lie about their information - don't forget you can go to the store and buy an itunes giftcard and it won't require a credit card to make a purchase) and also registers the ipod under their name (and doesn't lie about their information) there MIGHT be a way for Apple to track it down. But, honestly, that involves a lot of work and the assumption that the new user hasn't faked any of their personal information. Do you think they're going to do that for you? Probably not.
Sorry about your loss but all the SN is good for on an ipod is tracking warranty and repair information.

I recently purchased an album from itunes.  When I subsequently sync'ed my ipod touch I ended up with all tracks of that album doubled on my ipod and I lost all my playlists. Subsequent syncing has not fixed it.  Any ideas what to try?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
    You said:
No, I do not want to "factory reset" my iPod. No I do not wish to do anything crazy long or hard to fix this.
That may be necessary, It is not what you want to do/not do but what is required to resolve your problem.

Is there a way to track a lost ipod with the serial number?

Here are the Find my iPod instructions.   iCloud - Find My iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac - Apple Support
Apple do not have any form of service to find lost products.   But if it is lost, you can make a claim to your household insurance company or if it is stolen, report it to the police and send the report details to your insurance company.

  • Hi if i lost my ipod touch would u guys be able to track it

hi if i lost my ipod touch would u guys be able to track it?

In addition to what Kappy said, note that Apple won't track it for you either.  They don't help with stolen hardware...  can't, really.  Can you imagine the liability and publicity issues if, for example, they tracked an iPhone that was supposedly stolen and ended up helping an abusive husband find and harm the wife who was trying to leave him?
In addition, note that you can only use Find My iPhone if you have a MobileMe account and have set up that account on your device.  (And I'm not actually sure if it works with an iPod Touch.)  If you have done that, and it works with an iPod, you can find your device by logging in to MobileMe on any computer.

  • I lost my ipod touch, is there anyway to track it???

I lost my ipod touch a few days ago, I left it in my hotel room and checked out...of course not knowing it was still there until I left, I then went back & housekeeping was already cleaning the room & it was gone!!!

You could track it if you have an ipod touch 4G or iphone4 and registered with "Find my phone". If you haven't, there is no chance to track your ipod.
Nevertheless, don't forget to report details like the serial number to the police, in case it will be returned somehow.

  • HT1349 how can you track you ipod with only serial number ]

    2nd Generation ipod Touch

    Hello, Tommyty,
I am sorry you have lost your iPod.  You don't yet seem to understand that its serial number is not tracked electronically.  Here is my attempt at explaining the same thing that Limnos and stevejobsfan0123 have already told you.
Tommytj wrote: ... HT1349 how can you track you ipod with only serial number ] ...
Only by physically looking at the iPod's serial number.
Tommytj wrote: i need to find my ipod can anyone help me find a way to track my ipd touch with only a serial number using icloud.
    No.
Nobody can help you with that request because iCloud and  "Find My iPod touch" do not work that way.
If you cannot see the iPod, you cannot track its serial number.  Unless someone sees the serial number, nobody can track it.
Regardless of whether you have properly installed and enabled "Find My iPod touch", iCloud does not track your iPod's serial number.  This is true even when you or someone else can see your iPod's serial number.
Regardless of how much you wish iCloud could track your iPod's serial number, it cannot.
"Find My iPod touch" can sometimes track an iPod's location but only under the specific circumstances Limnos has already explained to you.
If "Find My iPod touch" cannot locate your iPod by its location, there is no iCloud way to find it.  In that case, the only way to identify your missing iPod is for you or someone else to physically look at it.
Perhaps you will be successful with one of these alternative possibilities for recovering your iPod:
      • you can physically search and find your misplaced iPod
      • someone may it returned in response to a reward that you offer
      • the police may find it after you have reported it stolen

  • Can you call apple to track a missing ipod with the serial number?

i lost my ipod or soeone must have stolen it..i did not have any tracking devices or gps apps on it...can apple track it through the serial number?

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with your bank or any savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  This requires action before the device is lost/stolen.  Something as small as an iPod should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.
