I lost my photos when I reset my iPad

I needed to change my apple I'd as the email was discontinued ,In the proses I reset the iPad which went well except all my photos went missing ,A full backup was quit resent Can anybody help.

If they were backed up in iCloud go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. This will take you back to the setup assistant like you had just restored. When you get to the part that asks you if you want to set up as a new iPad or restore from backup choose the iCloud backup.

  • I lost some photos when updating my OS, how can I find them

I lost some photos when updating my OS, how can I find them.  I have already tried to restore through my PC but the photos are still not there.  Any thoughts?

If you haven't backup up your phone, then your photos are gone.
In addition you should import your photos to your PC, just like a ditigal camera, as a secondary backup in case you lose your pics you could always sync it back using Itunes.

No. You cannot dowgrade your iPad once you have upgraded iOS.

  • When I reset my iPad, will the updated OS be lost?

I am due to pass my iPad 1 on to a friend of mine but have realised that that you can no longer update the OS. SO when I reset to factory settings, will the updated OS be lost?

No. It will stay at IOS 5.1.1

  • Lost my photos when i upgraded to 4.2 help????

I'm new to this forum so excuse me if I ramble. I plugged my iphone into my mac computer last evening to back it up, update new apps and check for any software updates. When I have done this in the past, I have never had a problem with any lost data. This time with 4.2, I lost my calendar, contacts, itunes, over 60 apps and pictures. I was able to retrieve my contacts and itunes immediately by simply re-syncing them. I was able to reload the apps but had to move them around in their original spots. What a pain!! I lost passwords to apps that I had to either call for or reset. Another pain!! I had to wait until I went to work the next morning to retrieve my calendar by syncing it with my outlook account. But the worst part is my pictures are gone! This is very upsetting to me. I had some special pictures that I can't find anywhere!! Is there anything I can do? I would hope they would be stored somewhere but I can't find them. I wished I had read more about 4.2 before I downloaded it. It seems that there is nothing really special about it for a 3G phone but a great deal of heartache. Does anyone have a solution to my problem????

Welcome to Apple Discussion forum. When you say pictures, are you referring to pictures that you had in the camera roll? If so, these pictures are designed to be imported to the computer as soon as possible with a supported application such as iPhoto for the Mac or the Windows Scanner and Camera wizard if you are using a Windows computer. You do not indicate what kind of computer and OS you are using, so it is difficult to answer. While pictures taken with the phone are in the iPhone backup that is accomplished with a sync, it is dangerous to rely on that backup for saving pictures.
If you are referring to pictures that you have synced over to the phone from the computer, they should still be on the computer you sync from and all you will have to do is resync them.
Again, if it is the camera roll and you restored from a backup and they are not there, there is no way to recover them now.

  • I lost my photos when I upgraded to ios5 on my iphone 3gs

Hi I have lost all but the photos from the camera roll album when I upgraded my iPhone 3gs.  I had also lost my music but have sorted that out.  The photos tho are what are important as some are my wedding photos and of our puppy when we first got him etc.  I have read about doing a restore but that wants you to wipe everything and that worries me.  I can't find my photos anywhere.  I freely admit that I haven't done a sync in ages with my itunes so thought to do it today and now it's all lost....please help.  I'm not very computer savvy.  All my apps and contacts are there the photos are all that are now missing.  Yes I admit I'm an idiot for not making sure the photos had been backed up.  I thought that happened automatically when you synced the iphone which I did do a few months ago.  Please help a woman in her mid 40's fighting depression and now the loss of her photos...beware family...lol....it's either laugh or cry.  Thanking you in advance for your help...Cheryl

I was able to get photos to show up on the camera roll that look like they are missing. Here's how (taken from another thread.)
1- Download Iphone Explorer (does not need to be a jailbroken device) http://www.macroplant.com/iphoneexplorer/
2.) connect your iphone using the usb cable
    3.) launch iphone explorer
4.) backup and then delete the following files:
         /Media/PhotoData/MISC/Info.plist
         /Media/PhotoData/Photos.sqlite (or /PhotoData/Photos.sqlite)
         /Media/PhotoData/PhotosAux.sqlite (or /PhotoData/PhotosAux.sqlite)
    5.) reboot your iphone
After you reboot your device, windows will prompt if you wan to open your iphone on windows explorer as usual. After you open it, your photos are going to be there, just like it was before update.

  • Lost ALL photos when backing up!

    Hi,
So my boss got the new iphone 4s.  We backed up his iphone 4 (which he had never done before) to his macbook pro, and let it run until it prompted us to disconnect.  During that time it asked if we wanted to sync all music, contacts, etc and we chose yes.
He then cleared out his phone to give it to a friend.
He then plugged in his new phone and connected it to his itunes to upload everything.  When he finished, he realized his photos are nowhere to be found.  They are not in iphoto, they are not on his iphone 4s.  HELP!  Is there anywhere they could be?

  • Lost my photos when updating to iOS 5

I did the update last night with apparently no problems, untill I checked the result of the backup copy of my iphone that iTunes was supposed to do during the update. Only then I realised that about one hundred of the photos I had on my iPhone had dissappeared! I tried to reinstall the backup copy and got an error message.... and I still can't recover my photos.
Has anyone experienced something like that? What can I do?
Thank you very much for your help guys!

I lost mine also.  Stupidly did not back them up before doing the upload since my iPad went beautifully and only lost two apps that I was able to redownload.  I dont even have the bckup that the download created.  Can't find that anywhere on the computer.  Looked in the directories of my phone and no luck.  Wish there was some way to get back those pictures and videos of my two year old.  Only two months are missing.
I also lost text messages.  But, all apps are still there.  Used the backup for the work iPad and it put on every single app I have!

  • IPhotos has lost my Photos when upgrading to Yosemite

When I upgraded to Yosemite like many people I have seen on forums there was a issue with upgrading the iPhoto library when upgrading to 9.6.  Finally it looked like it had worked but now all of my photos do not appear in iPhoto.  The files seem to be there still as the iPhoto library file is still1.26TB in size (i have a lot of photos).  I have tried doing a full rebuild of the Library but it did nothing.  I also purchased iPhoto Library Manager but this does not help either.  Please can anyone help?
I am using iPhoto 9.6, OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) on a iMac (27-inch, Late 2013).  The Library is stored on a "My Book Thunderbolt Duo", 8TB in raid 1 configuration.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Lost iPhone photos when Photos turned on

I had a number of photos on my iPhone that due to a problem with my iMac I could not upload via the normal iTunes??? route.
Got a new iMac and connected the phone and enabled "Photos".
Some of the photos (thats hundreds) did not upload to iCloud and now they are gone from my iPhone.
Is there any way I can get them back? PLEASE
    Thanks
    Phil

I think it is the set up assistant. It's the first thing that appears when you turn on the iPhone , i have not cellphone signal and my sim card is already in.
You know how can I re open that assistant?

  • Lost all photos when "upgrade" Lightroom 5.5.  Any help, encouragement, aspirin would be appreciated?

30 day owner of Lightroom.  Lightroom  only shows the 35 photos of the last Keyword selection made prior to the upgrade

First, thank you for your suggestion.
Information:  Unfortunately, all filters were off.  In "keywords", the number indicated (35) I had "keyworded", probably 1500 images.
Another "twist" just found.  All images just found on the external drive (4TB), where they were originally downloaded, so I have the                     images.
Concern:  recovery of: the keywords, flags and star ratings and edits? (oh I hope there is a way)
    Thank you

  • My photos when downloaded from an iPad to an iMac, each have a suffix e.g. DSCF0066_5.  These suffixes may differ i.e. DSCF0066_4; DSCF0066_7.  How can I remove these without having to remove each one individually.

This causes the computer to assume that every suffixed photo is a duplicate of an existing one - which it is not.

Hi, this suffex named by the camera itself, you can use Automator scripts to rename them, or you also can export the photos and make new suffex as you desire via iPhoto export option.
but my advice to keep them as is, you don't need each photo on your library to be named correctly since you're browsing it by events, photos, faces, places etc.. also you can create albums and (TIP) when you select a photo (will get yellow square on the thumbnail) you can reveal it on Finder by going to File > Reveal in Finder which is really helpful and you could drag and drop from iPhoto to Finder window to copy the image.

  • Lost photos when imported

I lost my photos when imported. We're there then battery ran out. Then when turned back on had restarted and seemed to have lost my photos I had imported from that day. Is there anyway of getting them back?

Check, if this help text lets you find your photos -
See:  Get help finding your Photos in iOS 8 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6464
Have you enabled the "Summarise Photos" option? Then disable it.
By default, Photos displays a representative subset of your photos when you view by year or by collection.
To see all your photos, go to Settings > Photos & Camera, then turn off Summarize Photos.
And did you migrate your photos from iPhoto?  Some photos may still be in the iPhoto Library, that is no longer supported:
See: Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8

    Solved!

Hi, lyne2. Just to verify, did you create a backup file or previously enabled Auto-upload to SkyDrive (One Drive)? If yes, we can still recover them. If yes, you can still access your pictures when you sign in your Skydrive (One Drive) account on your computer: https://onedrive.live.com/
    Hope this helps.
