I lost my Wireless

Hello,
I have a Macbook that I received in 2006. This morning it connected to the internet with Airport just fine and this evening, it can't find an IP Address. I am connected with an ethernet cable right now. Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this? Any ideas about what would cause spontaneous Airport disfunction?

Besides cycling power on your AirPort unit, you might try the three suggestions in the second message of this thread:

  • I lost my wireless connection everytime

    Hi,
I have a little issue. When I start up my iMac intel I always lost my wireless connection. Same thing when my iMac goes into suspend mode. I then have to click on the wireless icon then on the network I want to join.
How comes? Why the iMac is not able to reconnect automatically to the correct network?
    Thanks

Doesn't seem right, and I'm not 100% certain, but I think you need to try dragging this file to the Desktop, then log out and back in, then setup the connection again... keeping an eye out for something like "Save in Keychain", or "Save Password"
    /Users/nnnn/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconnect.plist
The reason for moving it to the desktop is that you can always drag it back if this doesn't work. Logging out/In will cause a new fresh one to be made.

  • Lost my wireless after upgrading

After upgrading my Airport Extreme to 5.3.1, i have lost my wireless connections. I still have my wired connection through the router, I can't seem to re-establish my network through airport. I have even reset the airport by pushing the button. Restarted my cable internet connection x 2 and restarting my computer, recycling the Airport Extreme...nothing is working wirelessly. Maybe my Airport Extreme is broken?

Try deleting the following files from the ~/Library/Preferences/ directory (this is the Library directory within your User folder):
    * com.apple.internetconfig.plist
    * com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist
    * com.apple.internetconnect.plist
go to to Airport menu and re-selecting the desired network.
    *perform a hard reset*
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107451
Also, merely unplug the Base Station and then plug it back in after 30 seconds or so. I've also experienced this same problem on a very infrequent basis and recycling the AEBS always permitted it to be recognized again by Apple's Airport Utility

    Hi
Try performing a system restore to the date where the unit was working fine in case this does not help request to provide the device ID.
    Open Device Manager
In the Device Manager menu, whichever way you got to it, find the driver that is missing (yellow question mark).
-Right click on that driver and go to “Properties”
-In the properties menu, click on the “Details” tab.
-In the details tab, click the dropdown and select “Device Id’s
When you have that sub menu opened up below, you should see a sentence containing a couple things you need.
-This is what it would look like for example:
-PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_03D1&SUBSYS_14041565&REV_A2 (Might be a couple extra lines containing similar stuff, but the main things you need are the VEN and DEV
Request you to Copy it and provide the ID so that i can provide you the right link for the download.
Let us know how it goes!

  • What's wrong with my ipad3 every 5 minutes I lost my wireless connections?

    I don't know what's happen? Every 5 minutes lost wireless connection. I bought today and I can't use :(

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.
Also turn your router off for 30 seconds and on again.

  • Cp1025 nw - I've lost my wireless connection to my Mac running OSX 10.9.4.

I've had a HP Laser Jet CP1025 NW for years, and from time to time, I've lost the connection to my wireless network.  Now, it's gone, and nowhere to be found.  Does anyone know if this printer can print wirelessly on a Mac with OSX 10.9.4?  IF so, how?

    Hi @IhatemyHP32W
Although there is no full feature software and drivers for the CP1025 to work with mavericks, you can still use the printer wirelessly. Please refer to page 16 of the User Guide for instructions to set it up; LASERJET PROFESSIONAL CP1020.

  • ATV1 lost its wireless connection ability

After years of using my ATV1, it has lost the ability to connect to my wireless network.  I have made zero changes to the network.  It will connect to the internet/network if I use an ethernet cable.  I'm guessing the wifi card in the ATV1 went bad but if anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds likely that the card or its connection is faulty.  Could be an early symptom of more general hardware issue.
Apple are unlikely to be able to offer repair.  From memory I suspect the wifi card is replacable if you could source another (one of the unofficial modification groups dsabbled with swapping a 'video processing' card for it sacrificing wifi but allowing HD decoding).
If ethernet is impractical I'd highly recommend some mains powerline network adapters (my personal preference being those from Devolo - I've had '200 Mbps' rated ones for a few years and am thinking of getting newer '500 Mbps' ones - with all these products the ratings are theoretical and much lower in practice though cn be considerably more reliable than wi-fi.)

  • Connection lost in wireless keyboard

Hello. I just got an Apple wireless keyboard. I do the pairing and it works fine for a few minutes. Then it goes nuts - starts repeating a letter as if a key was stuck, and the connection is lost. I do he pairing again - fine for a few minutes, and then it's gone. I'm using a MacBook Pro (Intel) and a Logitech bluetooth mouse, which is working fine.
I downloaded the firmware updater 1.1. Still the same problem. Can someone help?
    thanks
    alejandro

    Hello alejandro:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
Since your KB is new, I would call Applecare and indicate you have a warranty issue. I suspect that the KB is faulty and they will replace it for you.

  • "Connection Lost" on Wireless Keyboard

I'm using my brand new Mac Pro with Leopard and an Apple wireless keyboard and mouse. However, frequently the keyboard is unresponsive and I see a "Connection Lost" icon appear on the screen. My keyboard is literally a foot away from the Mac Pro. How can I prevent the connection from continually getting "lost"?

several folks here have expressed the same problem. I know I did; see http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5607804#5607804. It appears that the internal BT module does not work well.
Once I added the dongle, communications problems while the unit is on went away. The only problem remaining, which is kind of a PITA, is that the unit and the wireless devices need to be re-paired on startup. If I put the mac to sleep, the pairing is OK.

  • Lost WRT110 wireless connection

I have successfully used my WRT110 for at least a year. All of the sudden yesterday, the wireless just stopped working. Everything connected via a wire can still get to the internet but my wireless devices can no longer connect. I have tried unplugging and upgrading the firmware yet I still can't connect. Does anybody have any advice? Is there a way to check for radio hardware failures?

Change the Wireless Settings on your router and attempt to re-connect to your wireless network...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
-Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bits.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...
Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • I lost my wireless printability

When I got my Airport Extreme Base Station, I plugged my printer into it and seemed it seemed to switch automatically to being able to print wirelessly to my printer without even doing anything to set it up.  I don't have to be wireless from my desktop iMac but having it this way enables me to also send wirless prints from my laptop downstairs.   Recently I was having problems with two page printing and I discovered that it worked when I connected my printer directly to the iMac instead of to the Airport station; but in this process I noticed that I had two print drivers: I think one of them was for the wireless but I deleted it.  Even though I don't ever remember having to have done anything in particular to set up wireless for the iMac in the first place.  It just seemed to work as soon as I plugged it into the Airport base.
So my question is, how do I get my wireless printing back from my desk iMac.  When I plug the printer into the Aiport I have wireless for my laptop, but I have to plug the printer into the Mac directly in order to get printing from the iMac.

It sounds like you need to "Add" the printer on your iMac regardless of what is in there now.
Open up your System Preferences on your iMac and then Print & Scan.
Let it find the printer and then Add it.
See if that works for you.
You need to have the printer plugged into the Airport and the printer turned on for your computer to find it.

Any suggestions on retreiving wireless connection with airport extreme, have unlugged power to all sources and pressed reset button on router, still amber flashing light

    Hello ebulloc,
It sounds like you are getting the flashing amber colored light and cannot connect to the internet with it. According to this article:
AirPort base stations: About AirPort base station status lights (LED)

    Flashing amber
Startup is complete, but the Wi-Fi base station has detected a condition that requires your assistance. To resolve flashing amber status light conditions click here to learn more. Launch AirPort Utility to find out what conditions are being reported.

  • TS3119 I had a wireless keyboard and had put in a password but now lost the wireless keyboard what do I do

What do I do?? I had a wireless  keyboard I was working on and had set up a password, the keyboard has broken and is damaged how do I get in the computer

Sounds like you need a new keyboard.  If they keyboard doesn't work than obtain or borrow another one (even off a pc).  Turn the broken one off, when you reboot, if a keyboard isn't found then the bluetooth setup assistant will start to help you pair a new bluetooth device.

  • LOST USB WIRELESS NANO RECEIVER INSIDE OF COMPUTER

When inserting usb wireless nano receiver on the back of the screen on a touch smart computer.  I let loose of it and it fell inside of the computer.  I can't see it or know how to retreive it and am afraid to leave it there.  Can someone tell me how to find it and how to get the back off to retreive it.  Thank you.

To start this sounds like a computer issue and you are on a printer forum, but I think I can still help. You should be able to remove one of the sides of your desktop tower with a screwdriver and access the internal compartment. Here you should be able to retreive that piece.
Let me know how this goes and I wil get right back in touch with you!

PS I hope you have a wonderful day and a fantastic weekend!
