I lost the back function on our Mac OS X. How do I get it back?

Close out of the mail app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
then do a reset, no data loss. Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
then check and see if you can delete emails.

This isn't a Firefox issue, it sounds more like a Windows problem. It's possible you set your taskbar to auto-hide, so try mousing down to the bottom of the screen, does your taskbar with the start button show? If so, right click it, click properties, then un-check "Auto-hide taskbar".

Please press Menu (BB Sign) you will get all icons > now again press Menu (BB Sign) and click on show all icons > now see whether SMS icon is available or not. If it is showing then select that particular icon and press menu and click on unhide icon or unchecked hide icon.

The back button in Safari now refuses to work, and I'm unsure if this is a problem with Safari or my laptop (honest to God, I know nothing about computers). Anyways, I tried to call the number given, but there was no answer, and I'm assuming this is the actual virus itself.
How can I get my laptop running back to normal? Is there a way to check for a virus and remove it?

Do not respond to that message. There are no known viruses on OSX systems. What you are seeing is a total scam.
Open Safari then go to Preferences>Privacy. Remove all Cookies and Website data. Set the Block Cookies option to Block 3rd Parties and Advertisers:

Hello there i am a Mac user and i don't have the "Back" button neither the "next "button on my toolbar

i just have downloaded Firefox.4 and unfortunately the "Back "Button and the "next" button are missing in my toolbar and i can't see them when clicking on "customize toolbar"
i also have bookmarks on my toolbar that disappeared!
In the Previous version of firefox ,i had many bookmarks on my toolbar but couldn't see them all,i had to make a right click to see the ones that were not in my toolbar,this function disappeared which is a little annoying

Click on the Desktop or open a Finder window. Select Preferences from the Finder menu. Click on the General icon in the toolbar, then check the items you wish displayed on the Desktop. Similarly click on the Sidebar icon to configure what appears in the sidebar.
These preferences can be all different for each user. When you create a new user your pre-sets are not duplicated in the new account.

Some of the time the back button is greyed out when i have clicked on a new link. It's not a new window or tab, and the page I came from is not even in my history!

At first I thought I had unknowingly gone to a new tab or window, but that's not it. I haven't ruled out that I have completely lost my mind, but I'm really hoping that's not the problem, although with win 7 that seems more and more likely all the time. It seems to happen at random. I tired holding down or right clicking the back button but there is nothing. The fact that the page I came from is gone from the history seems really strange.

i know there is a classic theme addon for windows but i need a fix for osx...its very frustrating when you update and things like this change and cant be customized back to the way we are used to using the browser. its counter intuitive to have the refresh page button so far away from the back and home buttons.

Is Classic Theme Restorer only for Windows? I thought it worked on Mac, too. Some of the pre-selected interface items like the Application Button may match old Windows versions and you may need to deselect those in its Settings dialog.

Use of the Back button in DBI (vs use of Breadcrumbs)

I have received the following query from a Customer :
"The use of the 'breadcrumb' as opposed to the browser 'Back' button. Having used DBI myself, the temptation to use the Back button instead of the breadcrumb is hard to resist! What happens if Back button or the breadcrumbs are used inconsistently? What will the impact be to the displayed data etc?"
I've tried to find an "official" answer to their question, but, despite searching the latest DBI User Guide (and the associated supplement) for the phrases "Back button" and "breadcrumb", I can find no official mention of the issue. I recollect (vaguely) hearing that the application can "lose context" if the Back button is used indiscriminately. Is there an "official ruling" on whether we advise our Customers to avoid using the Back button ?

Not sure of the offical stance on this. Once, I found data mismatch issue while using the browser back button in DBI. Suggest them to use the Breadcrumbs for navigation than the back button. Thanks.
