I lost the iphoto and others in reinstalling the OS.

hi there, i didn't backup my OS and reinstalled the os again, I didn't know that I will lose all my original programs like iphoto. iDVD. garajband, imovie and all such pre installed package in mac. does anyone knows how to retrieve them back?
thanks

Should be on the installation discs that came with your MBP. If you've two, it's usually the second one, not the System installation disc.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
This is normal. OS X doesn't come with iLife apps, so you have to reinstall them after reinstalling Mac OS X.
If your Mac came without DVDs or you purchased it after July 2011, you have to install the iLife applications from the Mac App Store. Open the Mac App Store, log in with your Apple ID, go to Purchases and download GarageBand, iMovie and iPhoto free of charge.
If your Mac came with DVDs and you didn't purchase the iLife apps in the Mac App Store, insert the Applications DVD and install the iLife apps. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the latest iLife applications version

  • The Apple Store recommended wiping and reloading software on my Mac Mini yesterday.  In the process I lost iMovie, iPhoto and Garage Band.  How can I get them back?

I took my Mac Mini to the Apple store yesterday since I was having trouble with difficult to read text.  They recommended wiping the drive and reloading it.  I lost iMovie, iPhoto and Garage band in the process.  How can I get them back.  The App store says they are already installed.

What I missed was that I needed to select "Purchased" rather than using the normal listing of items.  Once I went to the purchased list I could easily download the various software.
Thank you all for your help.

    Hello JohnnyChin95,
You absolutely can just reinstall OS X Mavericks without having to erase and install. The steps to do that are almost the same as the only thing you do differently is that you do not go to Disk Utility to erase the drive. Just go to the Reinstall OS X option and pick your Hard Drive and follow the on screen instructions to get it going. Check out the article below for the step by step process.

  • I bought over a Mac Book Pro from a friend. I can't update iPhoto and other apps as it seems like these are tagged to the previous owner's account. Pls advise.

I bought over a Mac Book Pro from a friend. I can't update iPhoto and other apps as it seems like these are tagged to the previous owner's account. It basically requires me to sign in to my fren's account which is absurb! Because iphoto comes with mac isn't it?

Contact your "friend." Have him set up the MBP for your with your own account, settings and passwords. You are not running IOS 5.1. That is for iPhone and iPad users. What OS are you running? Did he give you the OS installer disks?

  • Iphoto won't down load because My mac is a lion 10.75 I need 10.10?how do I download iPhoto, and other apps that won't download?

iPhoto app won't down load because My mac is a lion 10.7.5 I need 10.10 ? how do I download iPhoto, and other apps that won't download? They were uninstalled by mackeeper (with me as an unwitting accomplice Thanks
I've reinstalled lion os 10.7.5 and got the app store app back.
Even though iPhoto etc are purchased by me in app store, theres no way they'll download.

    then
    reinstall from the original source
    Could be
1 - the restore disks that came with the computer - if it came with CDs and you do not know where they are then contact Apple to see if they can be replaced
    or
2 - the iLife DVD that you purchased
    or
3 - the app store - log in under the Apple id used to purchase the software or to set up the computer - look under purchases - you might have to unhide or accept the Application first

  • After syncing I lost my iBooks and other apps. How do I recover them?

I lost my iBooks and other apps aftery syncing.  How do I recover them?

If they are on your computer's iTunes then you can sync them back across to the iPad. If they are not on your computer, then as long as they are still available in the store and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to buy/download them then you should be able to re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

  • TS1702 Just had to have my iMac reinstalled due to a fault. Now OK, but I have lost iMovie, iPhoto and pages which i had already purchased. How do I get them back ?

How do i get Imovi, Iphoto, and pages back after have to reinstall my operating system due to a fault ?

If you bought them from the Mac App Store then they should show in the Purchases tab in the Mac App Store app on your Mac. If they were pre-installed then you might be better off asking the iMac or Mavericks forums, this forum is for questions about the iTunes store.

  • Lost iMovie, iPhoto and iDVD when hard drive crashed.

I owned my iMac since 2007 and my first OS was 10.4.  As far back then, my iMac came with iMovie, iPhoto and iDVD already installed.  Since 2011, I had OS 10.6 on my iMac.  Two weekends ago, my hard drive crashed and lost many applications, including iMovie, iPhoto and iDVD.  I still had a copy of 10.6 on a disc and reinstalled it and even updated it to the version I had before my HD crashed.  I notice that iMovie, iPhoto and iDVD are not in my computer anymore.
I visited the download section on the Apple website and have found versions of iMovie, iPhoto and iDVD that would be compatable with OS 10.6.8, but for some reason I can't install them.  I was able to install iPhoto, but can't open it.  I can't even install iDVD.  I haven't tried to install iMovie.
Is there any way I can install these applications I lost?  I realize purchasing a new copy of iLife is one option, but the version that is out now is not compatable with OS 10.6.8.

These are not applications. They are updaters for the applications.
You will have got a disk with your Mac that had the applications on it. You can reinstall from that.

  • Help: iPhoto and other iApps Won't Launch!

    Help!
All of a sudden, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iChat quit unexpectedly before launching. I only use iPhoto, but can't reinstall it from the the installation disk in a custom reinstall (it is grayed out and has 0 content) and I can't rebuild it iPhoto Rebuild. Plugging in a card reader with photos doesn't launch it. I am at my wits end. Adobe photoshop elements is sending crash reports too.
I just installed DropBox. Could this have caused the problem?
-I have Time Machine. Can you rebuild apps from there? Can I go back to an earlier time when the apps were working and just re-upload whatever new files were on added?
-If I upgrade to Snow Leopard, will this solve the problem? That is just an OS - do I need to also buy software upgrades?
    Please Help!

Move the cursor of the app in the Dock (lower bar on screen) and click on the app and there should be a Quit or Force Quit selection. Also, you can open Activity Monitor which is in Finder>Applications>Utilities and select the app and then click on Force Quit

  • Lost old itunes and can't reinstall new version

My older daughter had a huge itunes library on the older version. I got my younger daughter a new nano for Christmas and it wouldn't let me use it until I upgraded to itunes 7.5. I have tried to do this about a million times - lost my older daughter's old itunes and her entire library and now I'm not able to install the new version - it keeps saying quicktime isn't working.
The error message I'm getting is "Quicktime failed to initialize (error-2906. Quicktime is required to run itunes. Please reinstall itunes".
I have uninstalled and installed both itunes and quicktime a million times (all day yesterday and today) and nothing is working. I've read every tutorial there is, and I cannot install itunes. So now my older daughter has lost her library, and my younger daughter has an ipod with nothing on it. Please, please, please help!!!!

I know you uninstalled and re installed ten times alredy ,but try this one
more time .Forget about 7.5 many of you would be happy to go back to 7.4.3
That is what I did.First go to set program access and defaults and start from
the top removing Apple mobile device support ,apple software update then go
down to itunes and quik time .Now go to My computer >local disk c >program
files and see if there is somethig left, like ipod or something in that case
right click it and delete it. Once you did that go to Start >run and write
the word (regedit)and click OK .and go to the Apple computer inc.folder if
you can't find it is because it was alredy uninstalled with program access
and default, if not open it and delete everythig .Now th most important part
if you don't do this all the work would be in vain RE START THE COMPUTER.
Now go to http://oldapps.com/ go to music utilities and click on itunes and
you will find every itunes version that ever existed. It worked for me .Good
    Luck .

  • Aperture cannot import anything from iPhoto and other bugs!!

Aperture is buggy. Recently, I just updated Mac OS X to 10.4.5 and also updated iLife 06. Now I cannot import anything from iPhoto. I tried import images from iphoto or import iphoto library, both not working. I can import images from other directories but jut could not see anything display under iphoto library directory. Trying to use import iphoto library, click choose and then nothing happens.
If you create a smart web gallery, all photos will be automatically duplicated.

I used Pacifist.app to find iPhoto in the iLife '06 install package and then installed the app in the default location replacing the bundle that was there.
the normal method gave me an install error.
Thank you to the person who discovered this.
I was going nuts trying. I have 6 iphoto libraries with 30,000 photos in total and some would import fine and others would not. couldn't tell the difference between them and had forgotten the update. just got a new iMac intel and wasn't paying attention. Causality

  • Import problems iPhoto and other Photo software

    Hi there,
I am a new MacBook Pro owner with Leopard 10.5.1 and iLife 08. Absolutely impressed by the system, but a bit disappointed that importing JPEG formatted photos from files sometimes results in garbled photos in iPhoto and Aperture, even though the originals are simply fine. Tried to used other software like GIMP, but the issue remains.
Is this a known Mac OS X problem? If so, does anyone have a solution for it?
I would be eternally grateful for any help I can get on the issue.
    Lucien

    Hi Terence,
Thanks for answering. The photos have all been stored on my FAT32 formatted external USB 2.0 harddrive that I used with my old XP system. And the majority was taken with a variety of digital cameras (Toshiba, HP and Sony) and some were scanned in with a HP flatbed scanner.
I do not know how to check the color profile of the photos on the Apple system (I am still a newbie) and I did not look at them yet on my old XP system (but I will, but I am not near the system at the moment).
Would the color profile have anything to do with the problem?
    Thanks for your answer!
    Lucien
