I lost the save and quite funtion in FF16.0.1 .about config is not working..

I have set the function of save and quite in the FF 15.0.1 However, I lost it after upgraded it to 16.0.1 .I try to use about config method .But it's not working..

Hi,
it seems I lost my other account or made some other mess.
anyway, reading this thread I think I can give you better pointers for troubleshooting than on my blog.
Please run a
dmsetup ls
once you're in the installer (thats for me to verify)
now, next, it seems all that is missing is the multipath config file in the install initrd.
If the target linux mpath (if it still exists, i don't got time for testing) is selected, then multipathd will be launched - but without a config, the internal defaults will take over, meaning you end up with the user friendly name instead of the WWN.
Basically you should be able to find the error looking at the kickstart /etc/rc and restarting multipath with new configs over and over.
Might be fun :)
It would be helpful if Oracle picked up your fixes even w/o a support contract. :)
(ranting: It'll be a festival for me when the multipath tools devs finally get around to groking the world of real sans and create a plugin api for enclosure based naming that is just 10% as good as the one in VxVM. WWIDs are a sad joke, they're intended so the OS can identify the disks well so it can present userful names to the user.
Not to let the user choose between useless udev-names and non-human-readable WWNs. And yeah, I have tried to make udev scripts for enclosure based naming. Didn't go well obviously :)

• The save and quit function doesn't work in firefox 4

The quit and save button on exit doesn't come up. I always liked that function.

There were some changes in Firefox 4 default settings for some of the warning messages. You can set this hidden pref to what you want, to give the warning when closing multiple Tabs. <br />
# Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
# If you see the warning about accessing those prefs, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
# Type browser.tabs.warnOnClose in the Filter line at the top, and that pref will appear. If its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true.
# Then restart Firefox.
You can repeat that for these 3 preferences - browser.warnOnQuit, browser.warnOnRestart and browser.showQuitWarning, if you want to change those too.

• I can't re-enable the save and quit option when i close a window

When you close a window, there appears a window containing the options: Save and close, close without saving and cancel, and a box that says do not ask again. Well, a friend checked this last option by accident and now every time I close when I open again I see the same pages where I was before closing. My question is: Is there any way to re-enable the option to exit without saving?

In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter . The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise! , to continue to the about:config page.
Search for the preference browser.tabs.warnOnClose, and double-click on it which should set the value to true

• When I quit Firefox 3 I'd get an option to "Save and Quit" (which was extremely helpful). Now that I've upgraded to Firefox 4 and quit I can't seem to save my webpages. Is there a way I can get the "Save and Quit" option back?

See my question

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
# Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# Locate the preference browser.tabs.warnOnClose, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true
# Repeat this for these 3 preferences browser.warnOnQuit, browser.warnOnRestart and browser.showQuitWarning
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
# Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
# Go to the General panel
# Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

• What happened with the "save and quit" option when closing multiple tabs?!

I loved this little function and now it is gone?! If there is no way to get it back I will either go back to mozilla 3.6 or turn to other browsers.... Very dissapointed!

Firefox 4 automatically saves your session when you close Firefox, but it doesn't automatically restore that session the next you open Firefox. You can use Restore Previous Session on the about:home page or in the History menu item.
To make Firefox 4 work like Firefox 3.6 in that regard: <br />
# Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# Locate the preference browser.tabs.warnOnClose, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true
# You can do that for these 3 preferences,too: browser.warnOnQuit, browser.warnOnRestart, browser.showQuitWarning

• When Firefox 3.5.16 is opened in OS 10.6 on Mac, the bookmarks and history are missing as well as back/forward arrows not working.

I have a laptop running Firefox 3.5.16 and Mac OS 10.6.5. I used my computer last night without any problem. This afternoon, I had a USB modem plugged in when I started my machine and at first Firefox said it couldn't connect. After removing the USB modem, I restarted without it in the machine, then connected to the Internet and started Firefox. I had a Firefox error message about bookmarks not working due to another application using them. I checked the troubleshooting pages, but for the most part they applied to a Windows machine.

I finally found a solution. In about:config, under browser.sessionhistory.max_entries, I changed 5 to 20. End of problem.

• Typing in the box of about:config does not work

1. about:config. Click the button in the warning window. Try to type the name of the parameter e.g. typeahead.
2. Ctrl+F sometimes scrolls page to the bottom instead of displaying the "Find" bar. (might be related to 1).

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• How can I download adobe flash for my 2006 imac OS 10.4.11? Lost it recently and repeated attempts manage to download but it then does not work.

How can I download adobe flash for an imac intel using 10.4.11? This disappeared recently and although I go to adobe and download successfully, when I try to access video on web it says I need to download adobe. Very frustrating. Can anyone help?

Looking at Adobe's site there is version 10.3 for Intel Macs running OSX 10.4 or 10.5.  There is version 11 for Macs running OSX 10.6 or newer.  Most web sites don't really need the newest FlashPlayer, but if you are trying to view one that really does intensive video then maybe it does require Flash 11.  You aren't very specific as to which exact error message you are seeing.
If a site does require FlashPlayer 11 then you will have to upgrade your operating system.

• I understand the design change to the whole "save as app" tab, but I feel that Save and Quit feature from the previous version of Firefox is much better than this "app tab" feature. Is there anyway for me to have this back?

Restore previous session button available on my Firefox homepage is great, but what I really want is the Save and Quit feature. I have always felt that its one of the best features of Firefox, second only to search address bar directly leading me to the actual page. I read some threads about this, and found the answers very unconvincing. One of the suggested ones was "Pin as app tab" . No, I don't want to pin every tab that I want to visit say, thrice as an app. Second suggestion was, click on the obvious button on the homepage to restore the tabs(this took me quite a while to actually see). Why this change in design? This is identical to Chrome's but its very inferior to what Firefox already had. Is there anyway, without downgrading of course, I can get that feature back?

Okay, I found the answer myself. Going to about:config and setting browser.showQuitWarning to true, restored that option and brought it back. Thanks to anyone who is about to post. If this is false by default, it has got to change.

• HELP! How come I can't 'save and quit' any longer with this new ver of Firefox? Does anyone know how to fix this?

When I updated Firefox I have now discovered I can no longer action the 'save and quit' function when closing down Firefox! Is this a common problem and more to the point is there a solution to this?? ie, change settings or some form of patch??
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this function WAS awesome when needing certain tabs kept open.

• How do I get my "save and quit" back after updating to the latest version of Firefox on a PC?

How do I get my "save and quit" back I do not like having to close all my tabs and loose all that every time I close out of firefox. When I got the latest version of firefox I lost the ability for firefox to save my tabs when I close out of it. I have to go through the process of opening all my tabs and refinding the sites all over again each time I load up firefox. I can not find the place to change the settings to being back the way they were before firefox got the latest version. I want my "save and quit" back.

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
Another possibility is to use:
* Firefox (Tools) > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

• When I close Firefox I choose Save and Quit to save my tabs for next opening. It's not saving them the last few times, wondering why?

Upon closing Firefox it asks me if I'd like to save and quit, quit, or cancel. I always choose save and quit. I've noticed the last few times that my tabs were not saved the next time I opened Firefox, I'm wondering why. I've lost some webpages I was saving for later now, because of this.

The computer crashes, due to power failure, with Firefox running. After rebooting, Firefox has lost record of tabs. [History/Recently Closed Windows] is grayed out. So the list of tabs is lost. It should be possible for the software to keep a periodic backup of current tabs, such as, e.g., MS Word makes backups of the current file every 10 minutes, so that the tabs can be restored if the software does not make a normal exit due to a computer crash.

• I choose to save and quit when I close Firefox, but recently my pages dissapear on new session for few times. Is the new version unstable?

I choose to 'save and quit' when I close Firefox, but recently my pages disappear on new session for few times. After I reopen firefox, it's only my default homepage left, all my other pages that I previously save before closing firefox are all gone. It has happened for a few times with this new version, which I do not have this kind of problem before with other version. I wonder is this version unstable? Or is there any other way to deal with it? Thanks!

You should update to Firefox 3.6.13. See Help > Check for Updates.
If you use Clear Recent History to clear the 'Browsing History' when you close Firefox then restoring tabs from the last session ("Save & Quit" or "Show my windows and tabs from last time") doesn't work.
