I lost the songs of my ipod mini

I lost the songs of my ipod mini. The settings says that I have 0 songs, but when I see the available size says that I only have 5.4 MB, so I thinks that my songs still there.
How can I recover them?
Thanks!!!

I just recently had the same problem so hopefully my solution will help you (I know how frustrating it can be to be sans iPod).
I used my USB cable to connect my iPod to my computer. I then opened up the folders in my iPod from "My Computer" (as if though it were another drive). You should see a folder called "iPod Control" or something like that. If you don't see it, it's probably because the folder is hidden.
To see it, go to "tools" at the top of the screen, "folder options", the "view" tab, click on the "show hidden files and folders" and click OK. You should see the folder now. Inside that folder are all of your songs files.
I copied all of the songs from my iPod onto my computer's hard drive. Once that was done, I followed instructions from the Apple website on how to restore my iPod. Once my iPod was restored to factory settings, I put all of the songs back onto my iPod as usual and it worked!
Hope this helps.

  • How do i get rid of all the songs on my ipod mini?

I want to get rid of the songs on my ipod mini but i dont want to delete the songs on my itunes? i am doing this because my itunes are only 1.1 GB but on my ipod mini it says ive used 2.81 GB. whats going on??

This seems to happen from time to time. I have not read a good explanation, but I suspect that the iPod's operating system isn't the best at memory management.
These are the ‘standard’ fist steps to this type of issue:
First try Resetting Your iPod to correct this problem. It may take several attempts.
If that does not solve the problem, then Restore Your iPod and put the music back on your iPod, from iTunes.

  • Transferring songs from an iPod Mini

I have an iPod mini and used to have a PC. I recently bought a MacBook, and now have iTunes 8 on my MacBook. How do I transfer to the songs from my iPod mini and transfer them to my MacBook into iTunes?

What about iTunes purchases that you buy on your computer, I can not transfer any of those songs onto my daughters iPod that she gave me since she got an iPhone for Christmas and no longer uses her iPod. We reset it and erased all the data and now it will only transfer one song. Sorry for getting in on this thread, no one responded to mine when I asked the question.

  • Transferring songs from my iPod mini to my PS3

How do I get all the song titles and info for the songs on my iPod mini to come up on my PS3? Can I download iTunes on my PS3? When I connected my iPod to the PS3 some song titles came up but the majority of them did not. A lot of other songs said unsupported data and I think those are the songs that I downloaded off iTunes. Thanks for help.

  • Help, lost all the songs on my iPod when checked the box titled "Replace all items when Autofilling" in my Autofill Settings window.

Help, I lost all the songs on my iPod when I deleted a few songs from my iTunes Library, checked the box titled "Replace all items when Autofilling" in my Autofill Settings window, and then tried to Autofill. Note that I do not purchase songs from iTunes, but rather I rip songs off my own cd's and then transfer the mp3 files to iTunes.  And after I transfer mp3 files from my pc to iTunes and then Autofill, I generally delete those files from my pc.
I can still see the songs in my iTunes Library, but not on my iPod.  Is there a way that I can salvage them and get them back on my iPod?
    Thanks in advance.

Well you will have to wait to connect you ipod to the orignal computer and it will put all your songs back on to it.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.

There are other softwares that you can download that can do this also. Search the forum for something like "computer crashed" and you'll get plenty.

  • How can I get the songs from my iPod on to my new iTunes library?!! Help!!

So I've looked on all the support pages but I've got a feeling there is nothing that can be done with this, hopefully someone can help!
We moved to the US and while our computer was being sent over it got water damaged so I lost all of my itunes library. And I didnt back it up properly. So I want to know if there is anyway to transfer all the songs from my ipod onto our new itunes library, or if i can somehow get my ipod songs on to disc and then import them?? I really don't want to lose all my songs, so if anyone can help I'd be very grateful!!

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

My lap top's hard drive crashed and i've lost all the data that was ever stored on it, including all my music and itunes. i've since reinstalled itunes but obviously have no music within it. if i reconnect my ipod which currently has all my old music on it, will it sync with the new itunes and cause all of the old music to be wiped from the ipod? any answers on this would be much appreciated!

You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. "i want to know will yamipod copy everything to my itunes from my ipod like playlists and the name of the ipod , settings etc"
Yamipod copies music (including playlist). Your settings are stored on the iPod and will not change. That includes the name you gave it which should show up in iTunes whenever you connect the iPod.
Yamipod does not transfer play-counts, ratings etc.

    Hello Christopher,
There are 2 ways to go about this.  One is to use the manual method which is a little different depending on whether or not you use a Mac or a PC or you can opt to use a 3rd party software that can help you accomplish the task as well.  See this older thread for a list of possible software you could use.
