I love Apple but...

I have been in love with Apple products since I bought my first computer before college nearly 6 years ago.
However, as a d/Deaf/hard of hearing person I find the fact that Apple does not provide the option of closed captioning on ALL of it's TV and Movies both depressing and demeaning. FREE services like Hulu provide captioning on many of their programs and after emailing Hulu thanking them for providing captioning I received a response within an hour. The Hulu people even promised more captioning.
But when I try to legitimately buy an episode of a TV show via iTunes, I can't find any that are captioned. I know iTunes has some captioned movies.
One would think that a huge corporation like Apple would 1. follow federal laws regarding captioning and 2. try to make customers happy.

It must be very frustrating to to be able to get CC on all the movies and television shows. However, you need to understand that the movies aren't Apples. They are provided by the various movie/television distributors (Sony, etc). Hulu is completely owned and controlled by NBC. You should complain to the movie companies.

Love Apple but Please take back Leopard

Please do not get me wrong, I see a lot of potential in Leopard, it just is not ready for primetime in the real working world. I put Leopard onto two computers, my laptop and my dual 1.25, both I use when teaching school. No one in their right mind would update all their computers at once, I wanted to "check" Leopard out first. Well trying to pull files off my server is a joke- it is a mini-Mac on system 10.4.10 running Rumpus. After trying for an hour to connect I finally figured Leopard was changing the permissions of the files I was trying to download- I had already downloaded to another computer which I had tried to connect to an dget the same files, but no luck, I could not get the files.
Leopard will not go on any additional computers until it is ready. As it is I am going to have to wipe out my one computer and reload everything.

Agreed, it's not ready for prime time. I wish I had held off installing it. When I see the Leopard login screen on my PowerBook I get depressed -- it reminds me of the iMac that I can't log into at all after installing Leopard.
I've been using it for about five days now on the PowerBook, but there's a lot I don't like about it. For instance, not being able to put my user and hard drive in the dock so I can drill down through an infinite number of folder layers is definitely crimping my productivity.

The ability to copy text or graphics into either events or Reminders doesn’t really exist. This is an easy fix. Why not get it done?

Recent Convert from PC World - Bought Macbook Pro and Love It, but have ???

Hey Guys - I apologize for the noobish questions, but I just recently purchased a Macbook Pro (just this month), and have been acclimating myself to it. So far, I am very impressed, as I have been a PC user all my life.
Having said that, I was hoping you guys can point me in the right direction. I know that there are certain limitations to upgrading a laptop (regardless of PC or Apple), but one of the things that I would love to confirm are the upgrade options for my Macbook Pro for the following:
1 - CPU (currently, I have the 2.53Ghz Core 2 Duo - any upgrade options here)
2 - Hard drive (currently, I have the 320 GB/5400rpm hdd) - I would love to have more space.
I visited the apple store on line, and just want to do my research before purchasing items. I am still a little fuzzy on whether or not anything I see on the applestore would apply.
Anywho, any guidance, assistance, direction, points of reference, websites, as well as any other upgrades I may have missed would be most appreciated. Thanks!

The CPU is not a supported upgrade. However, there is a tiny chance that third parties will provide an upgrade, as they have for older Apple laptops. It is not something most people do. Performance bottlenecks in a laptop are more often the speed or capacity of the hard drive and RAM, or the graphics card (you can't upgrade the graphics card at all).
The hard drive is extremely easy to replace on the new MacBook Pro. Even on the older Apple laptops, I've ended up upgrading the drive in every one I've owned in the last 15 years. As bigger, cheaper disks become available you should have no problem swapping them in.

I love Apple! (Network printing fixed)

There's a reason why I've stuck with Macs for over two decades, and it was reinforced today. Yesterday I upgraded to 10.6.1 from 10.5.8 on my late-2006 MB. I ran a test of my apps (I'd already updated any that needed it) and ran a one-page test for my printer, a Canon Pixma MP800. Everything was fine -- temporarily.
When my husband came home, he noticed that he couldn't print from his newer MB, still on 10.5.8. Hmmm. Then I discovered that I could no longer print, either; both of us use the same printer, which is connected to my AEBS by USB cable and isn't even in the same room as my husband's MB. Hoping for an easy solution, I quickly upgraded his computer to 10.6.1, but no joy.
This morning I called Canon, who told me to test printing when connected directly to each of our computers. That worked, but it wasn't going to be a long-term solution, of course. Canon told me to call Apple.
I spoke to one tech who really tried, but he couldn't figure out the problem. He said he'd research it and call back in an hour. Well, he didn't call, but now I had a case number, so I called again. This time, the tech I spoke with immediately pushed my call to the network section, where I spoke with a wonderful tech named Megan. We ended up completely eliminating and redoing my wireless network to take care of a couple of problems I didn't realize I had, and then I heard the very sweet sound of my printer warming up and spitting out a test page! That worked on both computers, so we're once again in business.
I do love Apple!

like i've said before, the wireless connectivity reliability and speed of AppleTV is frighteningly good.
Or it gives the impression of that. I think some credit must go to the excellent H264 encoding, very high quality, small file sizes, with just a lot of cpu grunt required to do the decoding and encoding.

Standby=usage(update) = I love apple

A while ago I complained that my standby time equaled my usage time. Some people equated this with last software update. Today I took my phone to the Apple Store, and the replaced it with a new phone. Yay! I love Apple.

Apple itself does not respond to questions on the Apple Support Communities forums. Responses come from other Mac users like yourself. We don't know what Apple plans on doing but I am not sure the iPod Touch has the computing power to do Siri.

Are you viewing in Preview or Reader? On my system, the Preview window dictates the size of the text/images sizes. If the window is moused larger, the text and images increase in size. If I select "Zoom In" the document increases in size. Adobe Reader behaves the same way. You might check your Preview/Reader preferences for potential causes.

the only way that anyone would be able to see anything at all on your phone is if they knew your apple id password, or they were looking over your shoulder
if you are concerned that someone may know your apple id password, please change it at appleid.apple.com

If you just got it back and it isn't fixed or something else is wrong with it take it back and have them do the repair correctly.

You are trying to find a loophole to circumvent a basic rule that prohibits the transfer of purchased content from one Apple ID to another.
Content tied to an Apple ID are bound to that Apple ID forever. You can not merge or trade accounts. Well, not (officially) anyway...

This is compounded actually by a Gmail issue. I have had this email address for ages, since the start of the beta. But lately in the last year or so, I am getting mail that seems to be intended for other people but it is using my email address. It is probably one of them who created the Apple ID.
