I Love my Apple TV   SIMPLY AWSOME !!!

I have to say, I have had my Apple TV for around 4 months now and it is simply incredible. I never thought are entire family would use it just about everyday of the week. We use it so much I went into my local Best Buy and C City to see about purchasing another unit for the finished basement. I was surprised that they both no longer carry Apple TV's I asked a few of the associates who worked there if they were just sold out or what the deal was. They said they never heard of such a thing or that nobody buy's them because it is an apple product and nobody buys apple products. I was pretty shocked of the comments I was receiving. They kind of looked at me as if I were nuts or I was an outsider and did not know what I was talking about. The bottom line that I am getting at is, if people only knew what a great product Apple TV is and Apple it self. I swear I will never buy another PC again ! I believe if Best Buy or C City were to display an Apple TV running an HD movie on a 1080p LCD TV during business hours I think Apple TV's would sell like I pods, everybody wanting one.

Yea you are right, I guess its just that most people think PC's are so much better than a Mac and they are not, yea PC's are cheaper than a mac but a mac is by far a better product and operating system. The problem is, is that Best Buy or CC will not set up Apple TV's and display them where as my local Sam's club has an Apple TV hooked up and on Display. The sales person said they sell 3 or 4 a week, I wonder why. Any way I shake my head when I see someone buy a PC when they have no idea they are throwing there money away and paying for nothing but problems.

Is there like in a hard drive of which iTunes can read the media, which will not require me to add and delete media onto iTunes, because of a lack of space on my laptop?

just get an ext HD, and point your itunes library to that drive so now you'll just keep all your media on this ext

  • Apple BT simply awesome!!!

I like a lot of folks here have gone through a slew of bluetooth headsets, some comfortable, some not so comfortable, some with claims of this and that.
Well I thought I'd try ONE more BT for my iPhone, so I found my self in the nearest Apple store and picked up a copy of the new iWork, and iLife, and decided, since I was there to try the Apple BT.
Yeah the sales guys were busy showing them huge cheese grater ones and the usual Plantronics variety. I had one of the guys pull the Apple BT from behind the counter, and took a chance.
I got home opened the creatively packaged box, and pulled out what had to be the slimmest, sleekest BT headset I've ever seen, and thinking "how can they fit a radio transmitter AND a battery in this thing and expect it to work?"
Well, like every other BT I've ever used, I prepared for the usual drill of getting the phone in parring mode, clearing some counter space, turning off all the appliances, clearing my mind, and blocking out 20 minutes of my day for this sort of exercise, then getting ready quickly finding the right combination of buttons to hold while frantically getting the phone in pairing mode at the same time time before time runs out!
Yet crazy enough, I turned on the iPhone, and noticed the BT symbol was displayed at the top of the screen.? "What, I've yet to pair any other BT, and haven't ever even turned the BT on?"
So I called the wife, and it was working!!
I still had 19.5 minutes left, and the thing was already working!? Thats when I had to remind my self, (after all my computer geek Windowusing friends give me a hard time) why I love my Apple products!
After reading some rather negative posts about this BT, I was still worried about all the static and noise, and volume issues others have expressed.
However, its been flawless! Sound quality is great at both ends, and yeah, and more than a few feet away, it gets staticy like any other would, but some I've had, (that were physically 3 times bigger) were so bad I couldn't use it while the phone was on my belt. The Apple BT with my iPhone holstered on my side works great!
Maybe I got lucky, in fact I think I've been lucky on most all my Apple products, (and yet was so anti-Apple before I tried the MBP) I've dropped my phone from 6' on to a tile floor, gotten it wet, dirty. I've dropped my MBP off the sofa on to the floor, dropped another laptop on it, dented the heck out of my MBP and travelled across the country with it, and yet to have any real issues with my Macs. *knock on wood*
The fit could of been better, I wish they had made the speaker thing that goes in my ear smaller, cause you could always make it bigger with some gel things. But it still works, and is so light and small, I can't really complain!
    Thanks Apple!

I forgot to mention the following; the above issues typically happen when my MBP is 'beach balling'(http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2649768&tstart=0). I mention this, as it may help with the solution to my keyboard problem, it could be that during the 'linked episodes', that it is what's causing the keyboard to disconnect. Let me know what you think.

So does that mean Apple has simply abandoned a proprietary paid for iOS app? How will this affect iPhoto from Mavericks to Yosemite? anyone with Yosemite Beta in the loop?
    Thanks from Zurich,
    Dan

So does that mean Apple has simply abandoned a proprietary paid for iOS app?
That has happened before - remember iWeb?
But this time Apple has provided a migration to the successor app, Photos.
For iPhoto and Aperture on the Mac is not much known (Aperture is Dead. Long Live Photos! | ApertureExpert), only, that there will be a "Photos" for MacOS X.
anyone with Yosemite Beta in the loop?
Beta testers are bound by a non-disclosure agreement, and beta-issues must to be discussed in the public forums, or we will be in trouble. Neither are we allowed to speculate, sorry.

I love my Apple TV, but I can go down the street and get 4 Movies at Redbox for the price of one rental on Apple TV.
Apple should reduce the price of movies rentals to $1.00!!!

Forgive me if my solution to your problem is oversimplistic, but if the movies are too expensive for you, don't buy them.

  • HT201263 I have the ipad 1, and I tried to reboot it but when I connected my ipad to the computer it did nothing.  When it is charging the apple logo simply flashes on and off again.  It is trying to start up but can't.  Help!

I have an ipad and the only thing it does when you plug it in to the wall is flash the start up apple logo.  It will not reboot because itunes can not reconginze it.  I have tried holding the home and power button's together but it doesn't help.

I'm sorry, you are correct I am trying to restore my ipad because it stopped working.   We thought the battery was dead so we plugged it into the wall charger.  All it does when plugged in is flash the apple logo like it is going to start up and then shut off.  It repeats this every few seconds while it is plugged into the wall.  I let it charge overnight and still nothing.
When I hold the power button and the home button down together while the ipad is plugged into the wall, it does flash then after I release the power button the connect to itunes screen comes on.   But when I connect it to my computer it goes blank.   itunes does not recongnize my ipad when I plug it into the computer.  I have used the same cord to plug in my other devices and itunes recongnizes them so it isn't the usb cord.
It seems as if my system has crashed and I think this may just be an apple service trip for me.  But thanks so much for the advice.   =D

  • Slowly falling out of love with Apple..

This is a two pronged "moan" really,
My 15" 1.5Ghz PB has suffered from white spots for ages, it doesn't fall under the Apple Recall serials, I was quoted £800 to fix it. This annoyed me, but as the white spots aren't getting any worse and I'm not a graphic designer, its 'OK'.
So, last night my PB refuses to turn on, 'oh uh' says I. When it does start up again, its 'missing' one of my RAM slots. Oh joy of joys when I read the forums and lo and behold, this is a known problem to Apple, but like the white spots, they are only fixing a select few.
I bought my PB in 2004, pretty much 2 years ago today, it almost bankrupted me, I couldn't afford Apple Care. I expected to get at least 5 years of good life out of it, not for it to start failing on me now. I have been praising my PB and Apple since the day I received my PB through the post, but now I am starting get a little annoyed by their apparent incompetence. Yeah, my PB looks lovely, it's travelled all over the country with me, it's worked pretty much every day and I have had, ooh 2 kernal panics in 2 years. But the build quality seems to be some what lacking, especially compared to the expense of buying the thing in the first place.
I'm going to buy a bl**dy PC notebook next time and stick OSX on it.
    Powerbook G4 80Gb   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Hi cavasound and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Sorry about your slot. Might as well try switching your memory between slots if you want to prove in fact your slot is bad and not the RAM itself.
If it is the slot, think about buying a one-gig stick for your good socket.
Good luck and hang in there.

  • Don't you just love how Apple...

Says, "If you dare turn off Auto Sync, we are going to delete everything from your device."
Is there any way to disable that notification to just leave the content as is and just turn off the auto sync?

    No.  I keep mine on.
If you read the instructions, maybe you'd have a better understanding of how it works.  Not trying to be snarky (well maybe a little bit because I'm in a mood tonite), just trying to help.  In some cases, the app will ask you if you want to keep your data locally when you switch off iCloud.  In reality, you're really not supposed to turn it off.

  • What I will always love about Apple:

    ... Your People.
For the umpteenth time, I have received SUPERB Customer Service through Apple Care, for my phones, iPads, and Macs. In California, Washington DC, London, Rome (Italy) and now Montréal.
    You got me, Apple, forever.
OK, as I wrote recently, I do not like many things that have been done to the GUI for the Yosemite OS & iOS 8.
However, I think you are very smart customer-driven people who could easily do a Commemorative SteveJobs-Tribute Iteration based on the last gorgeous OS, which was Snow Leopard. I would even pay you extra if you would allow me to choose to use those amazing trompe l'oeil effect buttons (application icons from the Forstall era). Maybe it's a bit Norman Rockwell for some people, but Norman Rockwell happens to be a great Artist, quintessentially American, and as we simplify our living environment, go for the tiny houses, smaller meals, simpler fashion, it is really, really satisfying to be able to hold a visually-rich, graphically-textured, exquisitely detailed Interface in the palm of my hand... To work from a desktop image that is not only so superbly delivered, but stimulating to contemplate.
Contemplative moments deliver higher productivity, as all good executives know.
So thank you, again, Apple, Inc. Keep on at it.
Have yourselves a magnificent fourth quarter, and an immensely satisfying Yuletide, Christmas, holiday season, winter break -- whatever it means to you, I hope you are surprised and rewarded most pleasantly for all your earnest efforts.
    Your delighted customer,
    Maria Ashot

You're not speaking to Apple here only other users like yourself.
Something like this would be best written up and mailed to Apple headquarters.
    regards

  • From a Guest: I'm simply amazed at the level of Denial from AndroidFans over the (recent court decision). In spite of blatant, in-your-face Patient Infractions..I read the viseral comments from SamsungFans. Many Kudos to Apple for Standing-Your-Ground.

Simply a comment from a TMobile/Nokia user:  I am flabberghasted at the totally VisceralComments&Denials of Android Fans over the recent Court Decision.
Many Kudos to Apple for simply Standing-Your-Ground!
My wife loves her 3GS and I can hardly wait till my TMob contract (11 years) is up in October. Hope to switch to Verison or Sprint so I can get a 4GS.
Just last week-end, at Best Buy... I lined-up all the latest cellphones on one table (yes, they allowed me to try it) and it looked like a CookieCutter's Factory.
    ONE phone stood-out: the 4GS.

  • I love Apple but...

I have been in love with Apple products since I bought my first computer before college nearly 6 years ago.
However, as a d/Deaf/hard of hearing person I find the fact that Apple does not provide the option of closed captioning on ALL of it's TV and Movies both depressing and demeaning. FREE services like Hulu provide captioning on many of their programs and after emailing Hulu thanking them for providing captioning I received a response within an hour. The Hulu people even promised more captioning.
But when I try to legitimately buy an episode of a TV show via iTunes, I can't find any that are captioned. I know iTunes has some captioned movies.
One would think that a huge corporation like Apple would 1. follow federal laws regarding captioning and 2. try to make customers happy.

It must be very frustrating to to be able to get CC on all the movies and television shows. However, you need to understand that the movies aren't Apples. They are provided by the various movie/television distributors (Sony, etc). Hulu is completely owned and controlled by NBC. You should complain to the movie companies.
    Best of luck.

  • Apple Customer Service and warranty exceptions

    Hello all,
Whilst I love my Apple hardware and software, and have had many good experiences with them over the years, unfortunately I post today with a complaint about what I perceive to be poor customer service and product quality.
In late March/early April of 2006, I purchased a 1.83GHz MacBook Pro with great anticipation- Intel inside, Tiger OS, inbuilt webcam, and general awesomeness all round. I also purchased the 3 year AppleCare warranty, which was to be a godsend as during the following three years I would experience:
*The replacement of the battery under the original MacBook Pro battery exchange program
*The left fan on the unit dying in 2007
*The logic board itself dying in late Feb/Early March 2008, thus bricking my laptop
*Another battery replacement as the replacement for the original died before it (realistically) should have (Apple very nicely made an exception to the battery's 1 year technical warranty and replaced it for me).
Fair enough, it's a new unit and was bound to have some problems. Unfortunately, last week the logic board died AGAIN; a mere 18 months after it was replaced in 2008. The unit is out of AppleCare warranty by 5 months or so, but I was urged by forumites and friends to call Apple, who would surely make an exception for me and pay for the replacement part, given my service history with the laptop and Apple's reputation for excellent customer service.
Unfortunately, this has proved to not be the case. Calling customer service at Apple Australia I talked to Steven, who was firm to the point of rudeness when he stated that my laptop was out of warranty and Apple would cover nothing but the labour charges involved, as a "guesture of good will". When stretched, he offered me a $125 voucher if I wanted to purchase anything over $400 in the Apple store, and stressed he didn't have to do this but the company was attempting to provide good service to its customer.
Despite my argument that I forked out over $3000 for this laptop a mere three years ago and am now looking at over $1000 to repair something replaced only 18 months ago, his line was that Apple provided a warranty and that was simply that (apart from a month or two grace). Five months is apparently "far outside the warranty period".
I received no challenge to my assertion that after buying something which cost over $3000, it was reasonable for Apple to expect a consumer to pay an extra $1000 every year after the warranty finishes to replace a broken logic board. In truth, I find this near incomprehensible, considering one can buy the supposedly inferior build quality of a Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc and see it last not just beyond the warranty but another two or three years before it finally suffers something terminal.
While from a warranty perspective Apple are well and truly within their rights to refuse to pay for the part, at the end of the day I am left to pay $1000+ for a repair for something which may only last another 12 months, plus $3500+ for a new Macbook Pro with AppleCare if I want a replacement- minus of course the $125 they are offering.
I did some reading of the ACCC's website about my statutory rights and the Trade Practices act, and I note the following with interest:
    *Statutory conditions (goods)*
The Trade Practices Act implies the following statutory conditions into consumer contracts:
    * The goods must be of merchantable quality. That is, they must meet a basic level of quality and performance, taking into account their price and description. They also should be free from defects that were not obvious to you at the time of purchase.
    * The goods must be fit for their purpose. That is, they should do what they are supposed to do and be suitable for any purpose that you might have made known to the supplier.
    * The goods must match the description you were given or the sample you chose from. For example, any carpet laid must be the same quality and colour as the sample you chose from.
    * You must receive clear title to the goods, including goods bought at auction. In other words, you can expect to own the goods outright and any restriction on ownership should be explained to you beforehand.
While I don't particularly want to make a big deal of things, I hardly see $3000+ for three years use and $1000 each year thereafter to be merchantible quality or fit-for-purpose! This is supposed to be a high end laptop with excellent build quality, and yet I've a secondhand iBook that has been chugging for longer without issue than this machine!
I told Steven from Customer Service that his offer didn't satisfy me in the slightest, and still put me in an awkward position with regards to repair and repurchase. He simply wouldn't budge, and refused to see things from my point of view (which another operator, Anu, was able to do and thus produce a much better response from myself). I have since asked to speak to his manager which- after initial resistance- I have been able to secure a future callback from. I have no idea how well discussions with he/she will go.
What I'd like to hear from you guys and girls is your experience with similar situations, and whether you think I've a leg to stand on with regards my replacement request or the ACCC stuff above. Again, I love my Apple products but I hardly think asking them to replace the part while I pay for labour is a big ask, given the service history and my desire to continue buying and using their products.
Love to hear your points of view on this one; thanks for taking the time to read it!
    Cheers,
    Dave.

    Dear meacod
I have live the same, except that I Cure my MBP before it goes to die.
A lot of older participants here just talk about Aplle care, which seem the automatic thing in front of a lack of real good quality on Apple products .
But I think we pay the price, and my second hand MBP was much more expensive than a brand new PC with more ram, more Hard disk, and even a blue ray...
I don't know your mbp history, but that's sure that we are not equal, in world, with Apple customer support. France is not so great, I don't know for your country.
The only thing I think is that Apple should take care of us, as we have some unacceptable issues, for An Apple Product...
Since 1996, when Apple was almost dead, saved by Bill Gates investment !!! , I have every year promote it, and it was not easy, but I have bring to Apple between 3 to 10 customers each year..
since One year, I have stop that, because I don't believe anymore in Apple product's superiority .
Oh, yes, on the paper, it's better, the system is really good. But the overall experiment can be so bad that I don't want to loose friends, or customers...
I don't say it's always bad : I just say that it CAN BE SO BAD and that Apple DON'T take care of that...
so, for your computer, open it, check it a lot, may be it's too late, but for instance, you talked about a fan, I have solved that case just by putting oil on the fan's axe...
    good luck

Adobe Creative Cloud does not support APPLE latest IOS operating system, but does allow Windows 8.1 to be accepted. This seems a shame to me, as
Apple IOS is the leader in graphics, photography. The advertising states it is usable under both APPLE IOS and Microsoft 8.1 windows operating systems. Adobe Support Chat Sooraj tells me on 02/19/2015 that i must buy two computers to have it operate on both operating systems. Adobe will not support apple's Boot CAMP allowing both operating systems.
