I love my t500 so much more now

I hate to say this, but when I got my t500, I was really disappointed. The quality of the system was great, but I could not go a day without having it freeze or crash on me, right out of the box, and it took me around 3 to 4 minutes just to boot, which was pretty often... Even though I ran windows and system update, I just could not get it to work right. (I got the system in November of 2008 so it was still a very new product.)
Finally, I got it workable 6 months later or so, by manually downloading all my drivers, and installing them fresh again. I would still have it not wake from sleep ocasionally, but the system was stable in use..
I recently upgraded to windows 7, and I can not tell you how much faster, and more stable this thing is... If anyone is still on the fence about upgrading their t series laptop, don't be. It was the single best thing I have done so far.
My t500 vista boot times were 3 min, after bios tweaks, which was still slower than my 5 year old gateway laptop with a 4200 rpm hard drive and xp, but now with windows 7 and my t500, it is about 1.5 minutes. (I call a boot when I can get a browser open.)
I cut my boot in half, the system is more responsive, and has woke up from sleep every time.

I'm really REALLY frustrated with the quality of the OS (starts with V) and application software that Lenovo releases into the wild these days. The gyrations that we have to go through (peruse this forum) just to get the basics to work makes me think none of it was ever tested.
However ... my experience with support and service is quite different from yours. (so far...) Out of my 4 thinkpads I have twice had issues with the LCD displays. Both times I called support, they verified that there was a problem, entered a case # and the next morning the DHL truck showed up at the door with a laptop shipping carton. The driver actually waited while I put the TP in the carton, and off it went. The next morning (in Atlanta??) it was repaired, and the morning after that it was back on my porch. 48 hours on the road, and 72 more or less from my call.
I feel your pain. I hope things haven't changed for the worse with support like they have with the software product.

I had to reinstall iTunes and lost the library, so I used what I had on my hard drive, but I have much more music on my iPod classic than is in the iTunes library. If I synch now will it delete all that extra music from my iPod?

I recently had to reinstall iTunes on my PC (Windows 7) and lost most of the library. I restored with what I had on my hard drive on the PC, but there is much more music on my iPod classic than is in the iTunes current library. I'm worried that if I synch now it will delete the extra music from my iPod, some of which I don't have available to re-rip etc.. Will this happen, or is it safe to synch more content without losing from the iPod what is already there but not in my iTunes library on the PC? Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you now using a different username from the one you used prior to migrating? If so that is the reason for the problem. You might, then, give this a try:
To fix Home folder permissions
Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder. At the command line prompt enter or paste the following command line:
sudo chown -R `id -un`:`id -gn` ~
Press RETURN. You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed.

AUDIO TO SCORE is gone and it was much more precise for drum doubling than the doubling function itself.

AUDIO TO SCORE. I used that all the time for drum doubling for the following reasons:
In Logic 9 i always used audio to score for drum doubling because it had much more control over essential parameters than the drum replacement window. Parameters like: Granulation, Smooth Release and Attack Range made sure that i didn't have any flams, too few notes, too many notes etc etc. AND you could see in the sample editor (below the waveform) immediately the effect of the changes made in those parameters!
Now with these parameters gone and only the drum doubling function left, what was a real pro function has become much more cumbersome to use. You can no longer see in detail what changes in parameters does to the out-coming midi. And the lack of the detailed parameters makes drum doubling drop or miss notes, makes flams with the original drum track etc etc.... In short. The drum doubling function is inadequate for pro results.
So this is my suggestion: Apple probably wont reinstate audio to score as it was (i'd love it if they did, it's essential to me and others who does rock mixes in logic instead of protools). But you can do something that's even better:
In the audio file editor (previously the sample editor) make the old audio to score into an advanced drum doubling/replacement editor. Take the audio to score window and parameters and reinstate them BUT instead of outputting different note values make them output to a desired note of the users choice (e.g C1). Without opening the library. It cluters the window and often people want to use their own drum software than apples samples.
It's the realtime view in the bottom of the audiofile editor that makes a difference. And the missing parameters. Without these things a good outcome is based on luck rather than visual reference.

I was doing drum replacement ( adding ) with Audio-to-score for years, and must say, drum replacement is working for me without any flams and much better and 2x faster. I think it is pro feature, with advanced transient detector. Only problem is velocity,as in Audio-to-score.
If automatic threshold not working on some material, you can do fine transient edits in audio editor with visual realtime feedback, you can change output note and delay globally. Also you can hear ( in compare with Audio-to-score), that's why library is opened and sample replacement -after, not difficult to do.

Why is iOs 8 using so much more battery life on my 5c??

Ever since updating to iOs 8 with the supposed bug fixes, my 5c uses MUCH more battery life and I am NOT on it during the day at work except to make 4 -5 short phone calls!!! I hate it!! Wish I'd never updated. I have decreased screen brightness, turned off notifications for practically everything, and usually only play a little Solitaire and check FB for about 15 - 20 min. each evening. Also, FB isn't working at all since I've updated. I can open it and see old stuff but no new posts to FB. Come on, Apple!! This isn't what we wanted. Believe me, lesson learned. I won't update ever again to a new Os. This is ridiculous. I loved my 5c and it was working fabulously with great battery life!! I only bought my first iPhone 6 months ago and WAS in love with it UNTIL NOW!! Does anyone have any suggestions???

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
Have you tried ALL the troubleshooting steps? If you have and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible exchange.
There is no supported way to downgrade the iOS.

Summoning max. courage, I did what you advised. Here is the result. What does this tell you? My Lion 7.2 (mid 2011 iMac) has several annoying glitches (which I have so far tolerated through gritted teeth) but none that have actually stopped me working.
BTW, I see several items involving CleanMyMac which I did not know I had. It is generally villified as a trouble-maker. Spotlight can't find an app. or a utility of that name. How can I get rid of what's there please? Just delete?

Much more PNG files in iWeb site and make it slowly

I found that iWeb will change some text into PNG files, it cause anyone can not copy the text from my page, and make the page size bigger and slowly.
And then, I don't know when iWeb will change text into PNG, when it will not. Sometimes when I write some words in the page, and publish, I can see the words are in text format, but when I continue adding words in it and publish again, I found that all the words has been changed into PNG.
So, when a page loading in Safari, I can see much more image files in my page, but not text+image same as a normal web page.
All that make the site loading very slowly. I don't like that if iWeb look like this.

Instead of creating a hyperlink and then choose a file, put the pdf(s) on the server yourself first.
Create a separate folder for them.
Then determine the URL(s) to the file(s).
In iWeb add a hyperlink *to an external page*. Use one of the URLs to the pdfs.
Now you can update the pdf without iWeb.

Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on and everything should copy back onto it.
Working now !!!!!

Is it the time to go to Google? iTunes is much more expensive than Google Play!

I know that iTunes is amazing. But now that Google Play's started renting movies in my country (Brazil) I guess if iTunes worth it's high price for everything...
I have an Apple Tv, what is very good, however isn't complete as well, per exemple that doesn't have a way to change the subtitle size, what's a really simple feature. Otherwise its items are extremelly expense here in my Country. While a movie is rented by Google for R$ 6.99 (~U$3.49) the same movie is rented by iTunes for U$4.99, so I guess: WHY???
Do you guys have the same felling than I have that Apple has charged so much more money that it would? Anyone here is thinking about migrate to Google Play/Android plataform?
Why do you guys think about all of that?

T-code SUIM taking much more time for generating output for profie change.

We want to extract report for profile addition and deletion for Users in ECC 6. While executing the the t-code SUIM it is taking much more time (taking more than 20 hrs). This problem is coming after patch application
Please give the solution/Suggest to minimize the time taken in report generation.

Hello Prasad,
The reason for the performance trouble is a new feature regarding the user change documents. Since note 874850 and 1015043 you will get a more complete overview about the changes regarding a user.
The disadvantage of that new feature is, that in some customer system usage scenario, the performance is very poor. That's the case, if the central change documents are intensivly used also by other applications and the tables CDPOS, CDHDR, ... contains a very big count of rows. Unfortunatly the user change documents can not be searched by the key columns of the central change docs. - so the bad response time can explained.
What now ... ?
There are some work arounds to get the change documents on faster way.
1st. - You can get the former report output and performance if you
       would use the report RSUSR100 instead of the new RSUSR100N in
       separate mode.
2nd. - If you want to use the new report RSUSR100N directly and only
       want to get the information about the traditional topics
       (content of USH* tables) you should only mark the search areas
       on the tabstrip 'user attributes') to get a better performance.
     - furthermore limit the date range, if possible
3rd. - You should regulary (monthly) archive the user relevant documents
       for PFCG and IDENTITY from the central change documents.
       As per our note 1079207 chapter 3 you can reload that archives
       into more selective tables.
       The selection for change documents will be rather faster over
       reloaded archived documents than the documents in the
       central change documents tables.

Test program running taking much more time on high end server T5440 than low end server T5220

I have written the following program and run on both T5440 [1.4 GHz, 95 GB RAM, 32 cores(s), 256 logical (virtual) processor(s),] and T5220 [(UltraSPARC-T2 (chipid 0, clock 1165 MH) , 8GB RAM, 1 core, 8 virtual processors )] on same OS version. I found that T5540 server takes more time than T5220. Please find below the details.

Lion installed but shutdown is much longer now? Ideas?

I have installed Lion but the shutdown is much slower now. Snow Leopard shut down in 4 seconds and now it appears to be more like 15-20 seconds. I had to move a few non-compatible apps to trash but that is all I've changed. Any ideas?

don't know if this helps but i'll throw it in here in case it helps anyone. i too had issues with a slow boot and shutdown since installing lion. i tried many things people suggested in various threads such as repairing permissions and verifying/repairing disk, clearing caches etc. what did work for me however, finding it by accident is... i noticed i could no longer play avi files. i had perian installed. apperntly the version i have needed upgrading so i did and to my surprise, it actually improved shutdown time. my shutdown went from nearly 30 second to just under 10 seconds. it improved my boot up from nearly a minute down to under 50 seconds. it's still a long time to boot compared to snow leaoprd but at this stage any improvement is a good thing. so i guess the things to look for possible causes of problems are incompatible software. either upgrade them to a lion friendly version or uninstall them if none are available.

Why is 24GB or RAM so much more then 12GB ?

I understand that it is double the size but man is it way more expensive.

DDR3 has taken quite some time to get produced in 2 GB sticks and they were initially much more expensive than DDR2 sticks. Now that the i7 has gained a firm foothold one sees the price of 2 GB DDR3 sticks dropping rapidly, but where people were coming from 4 GB machines or even less, 12 GB memory seemed more than enough for the future, so there was hardly any demand for the latest sticks in 4 G sizes. For video editors and the upcoming 64 bit CS5 applications, one may see some more interest in 4 GB sticks, more manufacturers to enter that specific market and dropping prices as a consequence of increased competition in that smallish market, but I think it will be only by next year that the sizable premium on 4 G sticks will diminish somewhat. As always, being at the leading edge of technology carries a hefty price-tag.
Now with TESLA around the corner and the C2070 co-processor which carries 6 GB of its own memory, and is not an SLI solution (which is initially not supported in CS5, according to Dennis), support for this co-processor may alleviate the memory requirements for more than 12 GB.
Price erosion only happens when more manufactures get into the game and demand rises, leading to more competition. Just remember what happened with the prices of DVD or BRD players, plasma or LCD flat screens, etc. So, give it some time...

4 questions :
1) Am I right when I presume ASM will increase my request to 1 complete AU sized retrieval action done on the I/O subsystem?
2) Now what interests me is where does the rest of that I/O size sleep / reside ?
3) Under what circumstances will those poor, initially unused and discarded KB's be revived and be reckognized for their true value. Will only certain actions, like a scan, cause the 'overhead' to be used ?

ASM does not do IOs .
ASM only gives extent map to clients and clients take that pointers and do direct IO on that block.
This is very much true statement and explains what will happen if data block is not available at buffer .
That's why most of IO errors are getting printed on rdbms alertlog file ,rather ASM .Which inturn confirms my statement...
ASM level DBWR ,LGWR are related to ASM level data processing .
Keeping above things in mind ,it clarifies ASM does not hold any IOs /place on sleep.
ASM at diskgroup level,always does IOs as per au_size of that diskgroup .
