I Love The Map Support

Great Beta!
Would love to see KML/KMZ layer or pin support on map module. The I can see if images are out of place based on my Google Earth pin's which I can export from Google Earth, Import into LR4.
Also, when clicking on many images (orange button with a big number) metadata is = <mixed>. Would like to see this refect the image being show, and updating when going forward/backwards.
Color customize. e.g: year 20101=orange, 2008=blue, 2007=red...etc..etc. User config.
Seems really stable for a beta. Running 64bit.
Thanks

Hi,
I basically use LR for validation of metadata (keywords and GPS). While Geocoding is possible, via a plugin or nativitly, its not really possible to do 10's of thousands of images. I use a special app for this which wiorks very well.
In in current state, LR4 offers a interesting map feature, which good for managing small catalogs (a few thousand). In my case it would not provide me much in terms of my workflow.
I will try to give an example.
Catalog contains 100K images (mine in much larger)
Lets say we filter by the keyword 'Stadiums"
I'm presented with 15,000 images
I then move to my map view and see clusters of images on a map. They represent all the stadiums in USA.
What I need to do is zoom into each cluster and verify that the pictues are on top of satalite images of that stadium. Very slow.
If I had pins (and maybe rollover or click to see the text label) I could see various pins on a map and I would see the images always near a pin. If a set of images were nowhere near a pin, then I know something is out of place.
In Google Earth, you can organize pins into folders, and you can hide/display them by ticking and unticking a folder in "My Places". The same thing would be needed in LR4. So not all pins are displayed (Stadiums, shopping center's, parks, etc) and I could just select Stadium's to see stadium pins., for matching up with images.
When working with 100's of thousands of images, this would greatly speed up my workflow (validation).
Thanks

  • How do i clear past searches from the map application?

I love the map app. for locating business, etc but don't know how to delete a location I am done with before I start the next search. Is there a way to do this or do I just leave it until I want to do the next search?

Open Maps, tap the Bookmark icon at top right of the screen, tap Recents at bottom, tap Clear at top left.

  • Some '???' appeared in the LOV Column Mapping window ...only

    Hi,
I installed the Forms6i with the patch 12 on Windows XP platform. The installation language is Greek. The only problem i have faced up with the installation is the appearance of some question marks in LOV Column Mapping window ... instead of the Greek translation of the phrases:
    Column Names ,
    Return Item ,
    Display Width ,
    Column Title
Is there a specific Windows font that should be installed ....or something else...????
    Thanks,,,,
    Sim

You have to do it from the source code. Click on source, you will find "<xsl:if test="">".
Define your condition in test="/tns:input1=/tns:input2" or check if you source string contains "abcd", i.e. xsl:if test="contain(/tns:source_column1,'abcd')"
    hope this will help

  • How Do iOS 6 Map Points Of Interest Get Added to The Map

Really love the new mapping.  Adding Points of Interest (PoI) through some mechanism of croud sourcing would seem to be the way Apple would go.
Would welcome an App that took your location, had an optional photo capablity and stamped out a PoI.  PoI's should be croud sourced into the map by votes (aka Digg ish mechanism).  PoI's could also be voted off the map (Trapster).
Imagine having a million customers out there supporting the PoIs in Apple's Maps...  Maybe there already is such a system / applciation / web site?  Anyone?

I agree, I spent quit a bit of time updating open street map for the town I live in, adding all the car parks, ATM's as many shops as I could, hotels, Bars, adjusting the 1 way streets, adding footpaths  and even adding the bits of grass that would help people find their way. I had hoped apple would use this data given iPhoto started to pull from it.
I would be more than happy to edit the maps around my town, and if certain trusted people were allowed this access it would increase the usablity of the new maps app dramamtically. Currently i use google maps saved to my home screen.

  • Aperture 3 - Places doesn't show the map

    Hi,
just a quick question. I'm using Aperture 2 now, and thinking about moving to Aperture 3. I've downloaded the trial version to check out all the new feature. And i love it! Or boy...64bit support, curves.....:)
But one thing bothers me - when i've tried to use Places feature it's not showing any map. Just a white background. My photos have GPS coordinates (the same photos working fine in IPhoto). And i'm just wondering - is it a "feature" of a trial version or some kind of bug?
I remember i had the same problems with IPhoto after the initial launch of Places feature. But now it's working fine.
I'm on LAN connection at home (VPN). I guess that maybe a problem. I'll check other internet connection options as soon as i'll get to my studio.
    Thanks for any help.

I have the same problem as Samuel. I updated a few pics from iphoto to Aperture3. The first day I was able to set around 5 pics with no problem. But on the second day the map appeared blank. I do not have VPN, I checked my Lan and wireless, and tested in two different places but with no luck. I reinstall aperture3 and upgraded twice to 3.0.1 patch but still without solving.
Am I missing anything? I looked all the menus but I do not see any configuration for places section.
Thanks in advance for yor help.

  • Why I love the E90

I've read a lot of negative posts about the E90--some of them quite misleading. I've read posts from contrarians who insist that it's better to stick with an N95, or a 6xxx series, or what have you [and I wonder what kind of pot they're smoking, might be useful to keep a stash for myself when I need to escape reality ].
So this thread is different. I'd like to hear ONLY why you love your E90. It occurred to me how much I like this phone as I was riding with my wife (she was driving) to drop off our daughter.
About me: I am an executive in a small multi-million dollar firm employing about 100 people. I have the means to try out any new technologies especially if it can somehow benefit my bottom line. I've owned a Palm since before they were called "Palm", used the Kyocera (arguably the first true PDA phone) when it first came out, have owned since then Windows CE based phones, Treo's, UIQ's... and I even have an iPhone sitting here on my desk (which I will soon bestow upon my CFO because I hate the darned thing). I've owned the 9200, 9500 and now the E90 communicators... and I've got to say, the E90 is the bomb! It so outshines everything I've ever owned that I'm glad to have been an early adopter for it.
So here it goes: What I like about the E90.
    (1) Application support. Having just come from the 9500, I love the availability of S60 applications. I've mentioned it before, but I love SlingBox.. in the past I hated that I could only access it via my notebook; there was no intent from the vendor to support the S80 platform. Now it works with the E90 and very well too. I also have far more access to GPS navigation applications (but very few that work with the internal GPS) which allows me to go geocaching with my phone when I'm on travel. Accessibility to talking language translation software, games, etc... the number of useful applications that work on the E90 that weren't specifically written for it is a huge plus.
    (2) "Instant Genius." That's what I call web browsing on a phone. You're in a car chatting with your daughter about a story plot for a story she's writing, and you suggest a title: "Is there in Truth No Beauty?" She loves the title. You admit that you didn't make it up, but it was something you heard long time ago... but you forgot where. Whip out your E90--and in seconds have the answer: title of a Star Trek (Original Series) episode, and the second line of a poem "Jordan" written by George Herbert. Yes, I've done that on all my other phones, but the E90's keyboard and screen (like the 9500's) make it far more palatable than on any other PDA phone on the market. iPhone included (which I truly hated--all-thumbs me kept hitting the wrong keys on the iPhone's virtual keyboard).
    (3) Speaking of hating iPhones... the reason I refuse to carry one is... "eBook support." Look, I travel a lot. I wait in queues a lot. eBooks are the salvation of all that dead time. The iPhone simply doesn't support it. The E90 I have has over 1400 books saved on it organized by author. The savings in paperback books alone will probably pay for itself in two years.
    (4) Really cool idea for a camera button. I've read somewhere here where people don't like it (that it's "clumsy"?). I find quite the opposite. Hold the phone as if it were a camera and the phone's screen is the viewfinder... and the button is right where you'd think it should be if the phone _were_ a camera. I think that's rather clever actually.
    (5) Great Java support. I'm a software developer by background, and I was able to write really quick bluetooth enabled J2ME programs that operated the way they were supposed to (again, probably due to the S60 platform). The application was fast, started quickly and was quite responsive to user input (the same wasn't true for the 9500, long sessions with java profilers attest to that).
.... anyway, those are my off-the-top-of-my-head reasons why I like the E90. I'm interested in hearing what you all love about the phone. Remember the rule for this thread: no E90 bashing, there are plenty of other threads already for that.

Coming from WM Dopod 838pro, it was a surprise that it works the first time. All apps works as advertised. Of course, we tend to demand more from the device and loads it with all the trial ware that it is slower but never hang on mine, not like WM6.
Synchronising with the desktop works everytime. GPS after the upgrade to 7.40 firmware locks on in less than 10 seconds. I love the free app from Nokia i.e. SportsTracker. Just start the app when walking around my neighbourhood and viola, the map shows where I have been and all the statistics, km, speed etc.
The quickoffice after the upgrade is very useful. Create 2 worksheets in Excel with formulas and pot it into memory card and you can switch from 1 worksheet to another by merely pressing the * or #. However, entering decimal points is rather circuitous but will get the hang of it.
Shared some movies with my friend and though it is VCD resolution from the conversion, it is viewable in the internal screen. 1.30 hour movie of 'Simpson' no problem with no lag, break and the sound is clear. Audio book is also a plus with clear audio.
Truphone really works and sound quality is much clearer than skype and my wifey calling to her sister 300 km away on her handphone no problem at all(free till end Dec) for 2 hours. So much so that they now use speakerphone feature as the radiation too near the head will cause .....
Size wise is a tad large but wearable, put in trousers while walking and on sitting down, take the phone to check calls and put in the shirt pocket.
Free wifi at Starbuck works first time. Of course, people tend to compare it with the laptop which is most unfair. Bottom line is you have it when you needs it.
So much of rambling for now but I just love the phone and not some gadgets that keep hanging and resetting.

  • I have a late 2011 model MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion.  I love the AirPlay mirroring feature with Apple TV...BUT, how do I mirror with TVs that don't have Apple TV?  I used to run a cable from my mini display port to the HDMI input of a TV.

I have a late 2011 model MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion.  I love the AirPlay mirroring feature with Apple TV...BUT, how do I mirror with TVs that don't have Apple TV?  I used to run a cable from my mini display port to the HDMI input of a TV.  This feature seems to be lost in the Mountain Lion upgrade.  Did Apple feel that once Mountain Lion came out that EVERYONE would have Apple TV?  There are no settings in System Preferences/Display like there used to be...only for AirPlay Mirroring.

Running a cable to the HDMI port is still supported. (and still works on mine).
If the Arrangement tab in System Preferences > Displays isn't present then it doesn't recognize the physical connection.  Double check all cables.  If that doesn't work try a PRAM reset:

  • Seriously!?!  Serious problems with the customer support and AppleCare.

I have a macbook pro.  I've had it since Aug 2007, so it's old, i get it. But I'm a poor starving student and I bought the computer with the idea that it was a quality product that would last me though my studies.  However, it has been the shop for repairs literally, every year, often multiple times per year, since I bought it.  Everything from DVD (twice failed, more than two visits), to hard drive failure, to replacing the motherboard.  That's just what I remember.  The thing is a lemon.
Fortunately I bought apple care, great idea right? It was for the first year or two.  However over a year before AppleCare was set to expire it started having problems over heating, freezing, and subsequently giving me that scary roll down 'restart your computer immediately screen'.  It gets so hot you can't set it on your lap - it burns. I repeatedly brought it into the shop for help (the flagship one on Regents Street in London), and they couldn't seem to do anything.  When I explained time was of the essence because I wanted it covered under AppleCare, they seemed unbothered, it seeed they were clearly waiting for it to expire first.  Dodgy.
During the appointments they couldn't seem to replicate the issue in the shop (it take about 30 minutes to an hour to really scorch, and seems to not be related to how hard the CPU works).  And said because they could see it do it, they were not able to help.  Really, in the whole history of apple, I'm the only one to have a computer over heat?  Really?  Instead, they sent me away asking me to come back later "when it starts doing it again".  Okay, as I said, it always overheats, it just takes a while to start, so unless we sit together in quiet awkwardness waiting, and waiting, it's not going to happen.  And as the appointments take about three days to get so it's not like I can just pop round when it starts to happen and say, feel, it's really hot now, will you please, for the love of God, find a solution now?  And it's a bit of a walk to the store, and there are no internet cafe's near by for me to go heat it up at, so it's always going to cool before I arrive. Duh.
And why is the burden of proof on me?  It's like they are insinuating that I just love popping round the apple store every few months, all the vain hope that I can have a ...free part?
Still I persevered, taking it in when the problem seemed to exacerbate, and making sure I used it a bit first to get it warmed up.  All the while with the warranty getting closer and closer to expiration.   Finally, we got it to do it in the shop.  But for a fix, they just sprayed it with air, and told me to "see if that works".  It didn't.  And I ask you, why is it in no other visit, they could not have come to this ground breaking solution? Did they really have to feel it get hot to realize overheating may have something to do with a clogged fan?
I should also note that they then proceeded to put it back together wrong, and I was unable to open it because a misplaced screw caused it to lock shut.  It took two days to get a new appointment to get it fixed, even when I called to explain that it was their error, and I really, really, needed my laptop.
Anyway, as I said, it didn't fix the problem. So I had to go back yet again, at this point I can't remember if I was still under applecare or if it had just expired.  It doesn't matter, because, again, without being able to make it get hot on their own (even though they had case history where it was clear that it had, and this was not just in my imagination, and even more case history showing it had a history of instability), they couldn't offer me any solutions.  All they could do, they said, was suggest that I leave it with them for "about a week" to check it over.  A week!! Who goes without a computer for a week?!?! I'm not a student in 1985.
So now, I'm sitting here writing you am email from my laptop which is sitting on a towel in my lap to protect my thighs from mac burn.  The warranty has now long passed, but the problem has now finally progressed to the point that it takes much less than 30 to reach scalding point, so I could prove it if there were any point.  But there isn't, because now when I call the apple people, they assure me that it must be a hardware issue (and furthermore that the apple employees should have been able to tell me this over a year ago), and unless I want to buy parts there just isn't anything that they can do.  Which leads me to my next point, if the problem started while under warranty, and you have documentation of this, why do I - a poor starving student - have to pay for this just because it took you, Apple, a year and half to finally figure out the problem?
So to recap, I decided to pay the exorbitant apple costs and make the switch from PC because I thought that the stability of the machines, the so touted excellent customer service, and the superior programs were worth the cost.  And to be fair, the programs are fabulous, the apps integrate smoothly, and it starts up with a flash.  Unfortunately I can't enjoy any of this with my laptop on my lap without risking burning through my pants.  I can only enjoy these benefits for about 30 minutes before it starts freezing due to the heat.  And, a few times a year I have to make multiple journeys to the apple store (which is, to be fair, really quite a nice store) to get the latest hardware problem fixed, which means I'm often without it for days to over a week at a time.  All in all, it's not worth the money to me - one of those young, hip, cutting edge media types you are trying so hard to market to - until you can fix your customer service issues, put knowledgable people in positions to help, and have the internal support systems to get it done with at least enought efficiency to keep up with the technology demands of the modern world.

It sounds as if this is coming back to Norton Security...

  • Encountering Error in webadi : "&Value is invalid. Enter a valid value for the Mapping column &Column"

We are having a custom WebADI, containing a field (Employee Name) which is a LOV.
The LOV has ID : Person ID, Meaning : Employee name, Description : Position Name.
There are multiple records with same Employee name but different Person ID.
If I select an Employee in the LOV which has multiple records (through different IDs), I am getting an error in WebADI:
    "Enter a valid EMPLOYEE_NAME.

The Query for the LOV is correct and is returning correct records.
Any pointers on this issue highly appreciated.

    Hi,
The problem could be with HR security profile attached to the responsibility from where you are launching the spreadsheet. Check it once.

I have the new ipod touch. It was working until yesterday evening. I love this feature. GPS is working by the way. Any ideas?

iPod do not have GPS. They use the location of nearby wifi routers that are in Apple's database. Not all routers are in Apple's database.
Were you at a different network when you took the pictures?
When you are where yoiu took the pictures did/does the Map apps show your location?

  • How to schedle the mapping in OWB?

Can any please provide me link to see the steps to schedule the OWB mapping. My version is 11.1.0.7.0. The mapping is developed
by some one. Now i need to take responsibility on this. I need to know how to schedule the mapping.I want to run this every day mighnight.
In project explorer, I went into schedules. Then i created the schedule. After that, i am not sure, how to link the mapping on this scheduler.
    any help is highly appreciated.
    thanks.

    Hi ,
Do you have metalink or my oracle support access ?
If yes then check Note 444877.1 for OWB mapping or process flow scheduling .
    1. Verify the mapping or process flow completes successfully.
    2. Navigate to the Schedules node in the Design Center Console and create a new Schedules module
called MY_SCHEDULES. For the location, select your TARGET_LOCATION, as the schedule will be deployed to the database.
    3. Create a new schedule, TEST_SCH, with time greater than current database machine time (server where the job executes).
    4. Associate your schedule with the mapping or process flow. Right click the mapping or process flow and select the option "Configure" and "set Referred Calendar" to TEST_SCH.
    5. In the Control Center Manager, navigate to your TARGET_LOCATION and note the Scheduled Job TEST_SCH_JOB under the Scheduled Jobs node. Deploy the job with action "Create".
Using SQLPlus logged into the database as the TARGET user, verify the user has a job TEST_SCH_JOB, in state DISABLED:
    select job_name, state from user_scheduler_jobs;
    6. Use the Schedule tab on the Control Center Jobs panel in the Control Center Manager to schedule
the job. Highlight, right click the job and from the pop-up menu select "start". Use the same query to check the current status:
    select job_name, state from user_scheduler_jobs;
The above query will show whether the scheduled job is SCHEDULED, RUNNING or SUCCEEDED.

Please do this after you verify all permission settings for all the groups the account is associated with. Also, make sure you check the NTFS folder permissions before doing this as well.
Since the same result happens on multiple computers, it is not the profile.
I am recommending you delete the AD account (or rename to backup the account).
It will not effect the users Exchange account, but you will need to link it back to the new AD user account.
You can also delete her profile just to remove it, for the "just in case" scenario.
