Okay, I want to hop on this line, and ask Why Is My Site Painfully Slow
Your orangecrush2 pic (for instance) is actually 256 kB. It could be a 100 kB JPEG without losing visual accuracy ; after all, screen resolution is 72 dpi and
that is no too phenomenal.
The first page of my site (www.ceremonialdays.com) has a photo that is a 50 kB jpeg and it loads really slowly. I had a shadow on it, and I took it off but I would like to put it back on since removing it didn't speed things up. Can anyone tell me if there is something else that might be slowing things down? On the Dear Celebrant, page (and I NOW know not to use spaces or commas) I have several postcards that are fairly large jpegs. The slowness there doesn't bother me so much, but would I be better off making those files smaller?
Thanks for any and all advice.
I love your jewelry, Kim. And your site loads acceptably fast for me.

  • Create a Webpart with Sharepoint Designer to see and upload documents in document set

    Hello,
In a document set, we see documents in this document set and we can upload files and documents only in this document set.
Can i save this view to other sites in webPart ?
I tried to use sharepoint designer saving the dataview in a file and then import this file in other site but the result is that webpart show me the root of the library, not the document set and same for file uploads, it show me the file upload window for
    the root of the library.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your answer.
Yes, i linked source site collection from SPD; I don't want to send but i want to display document set in another site.
Finaly, i found a solution but i don't know if its the best practice :
i have all my libraries in the top site to have all important documents in one site.
So i want to display a library/folder/document set in webParts to my subsites.
To do this, i create a dataview in SPD; i save this dataview in a file and import this file as webPart in my subsites.
my problem : It display the root of my library instead of within the document set. AND when i clic on "upload a document", it display the root of my library upload form instead of the document set upload form
my solution : i create a dataview in SPD; i copy/past the document set upload form link in this dataview; I save this dataview in a file and import this file as webPart in my subsite; from the webpart of my subsite, i create a view to my document set.
... should i do it for all my views ? or is there another solution ?
    Thanks

  • Can't see imported swing code in jDeveloper visual designer

    Hi,
I developed a small swing utility program in either Eclipse or NetBeans (it's been a while, and i forgot which one I used last). I'm now trying to use jDeveloper for all java development, but ran into this problem: when I look at my JFrame in the visual designer, I see the outer frame object, but none of the nested controls inside (buttons, tabbed panes, etc.). I can see all the code and I see the objects in Structure panel. I know when I migrated between Eclipse and NetBeans I had to make some changes to my code to make it work with the visual designers there. I'm pretty shocked to have the same problem in jDeveloper. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dennis

That is happening because you must follow some requirements
if you want to import code and use the visual designer tool:
    - It must be a Java file.
    - It must be free from syntax errors.
    - It must contain a public class (the file name must be the same as the name of the
    public class).
    - It must follow JDeveloper coding conventions:
    * All UI controls are declared as class members or as local variables within jbInit().
    * All UI property settings done in jbInit(). This is necessary in order for the
JDeveloper UI Editor and Property Inspector to reflect the settings.
    * All property settings set as expressions involve only member UI controls or
    static values.
    - It must have a default constructor.
Any file that meets the above requirements can be visually designed using the UI Editor and the Property Inspector. You can also visually design a non-UI class.
    Hope this helps !

  • BW 3.5, BEx Query designer issue with text of the characteristics

    Hi All,
We are currently using BEx 3.5 Query Designer to design the queries. We have one of the ODS on which we are querying for.
We have 3 different types of Customer in this ODS. 0Customer, 0BBP_CUSTOMER and 0GN_CUSTOMER. The problem is when we open this ODS in Query designer we see their text name on the left hand side column where it shows data fields as the same text name Customer.
Now the our Power users have raised the issue that it is very confusing even when there are 3 different technical names for these characteristics.
    2 Questions I have.
    1) Why is something like this happening? is it some issue with the Patch or something. We will be migrating to new BI soon but in the mean time if I could resolve it that will be the best. Or does it even get resolved with new BI???
    2) what is the way in which we can resolve it?
Thanks in advance and points will be given generously.

    HI BI Consul!
Things like this happen, when it is called customer it could be different customers, 0customer is the standard R/3 customer and 0BBP_customer is objects from CRM and most likely 0GN_Customer might be customer from different system.
Sure, power users should be told which customer is customer and you could also change the discription of the object, to match the definition on the other system. You could also just create z object and replace the existing confusing object with something meaningful to users.
    thanks.

i think to bye imac for graphic design use purpose. kindly guide me. Is iMac best for me ?

    Hello artistsagar,
The word best is always subjective.   It is all a question of your needs, your working practice, your available space; I could go on.
A Mac (probably a 27"one) may well be perfect.  Good size screen, easily understood basic functions and a huge number of recommended programs.   Just Google Mac graphic design to see what is available.

  • How to Design Multi Page Report in SSRS 2008

    Hi All,
I have managed to create a multi page report. When I am preview mode i can see that the report has 2 pages.
But when I am in design view I cannot view the second page. How can I view the second page. Reason being I am trying to create a template where the table for certain data needs to be at the top of the page and some data at the middle and so on.
    Thanks in advance.
    Aash.
    Aash

    Hi Aash2,
According to your description, the behavior of cannot view the second page in design view is expected, in another way, there is only one page in design view.
Report Designer supports two views: Design to define the report data and report layout, and
Preview to display a rendered view of the report. If you would like to show a table on the first page, and show the other table on the second page, you can add a page break on the first table like followings:
    1. Click the gray handle in the first table, select “Tablix Properties”
    2. Click “Add a page break after” check box under Page break options in General Tab
After do above, you can see the first table in the first page, and the other table in the second page.

  • All Dates displayed for "Characteristic Values" in Query Designer

    Hello Experts,
We are on BI 7.0, level 13.  I am having an issue within the Query Designer with regards to dates.  I have a write-optimized DSO that contains 3 date fields (for example, ZDATE1, ZDATE2, and ZDATE3).  Each date InfoObject is of type DATS so the system automatically creates it with reference to 0DATE.
When I create a query in the Query Designer, on the left hand side, I expand the "Characteristic Values" node under each date field.  The Query Designer shows the same list of values for each of the 3 dates even though they are not valid values posted in the DSO for those fields.
For example, ZDATE1 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2005).
ZDATE2 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2006).
ZDATE3 only has 1 value posted in the DSO (01/01/2007).
Bute when I expand the "Characteristic Values" node in the Query Designer, I see ALL THREE values under each date field.  I would expect to only see the 1 value posted for the InfoObject in the DSO.  Also note that each InfoObject is defined to show "Only posted values in InfoProvider".
It appears that Query Designer will show all values for the reference InfoObject 0DATE instead of the ones posted to the actual InfoObject in the DSO.  If I delete the data in the DSO, the Characteristic Values list still remains because they exist in 0DATE.  Anyone encounter this before?  How can I get the Characteristic Values list to only show posted values for that InfObject?
    Thanks for your help!
    J

Thanks for the response.  I went into the DSO and right clicked on each of the Date fields.  I looked at the Provider-specific properties and there is the option for "Query Exec.FilterVal" which only restricts what values appear when restricting during execution, not during query creation.
Is there someplace else I should look or someplace else I can make change to only display posted dates when creating a query?  Thanks!

  • BEx: In Query Design I can't EXPAND Dim to select Char (missing + sign)

    Hi,
I am in BI 7, but created some queries in RRMX i.e. the 3.x query designer.
I went back to create a new query and I see my InfoArea but no means to expand it to select a cube, missing + sign and I can't expand the InfoArea.
    When I managed to open one of the old queries, in the query design, I see my design but all the Dimensions are missing the + sign and I can't expand them to select characteristics;
In the same token, I can't expand the KEY Figure tree to select key figures, etc.
    Any help?

    Hello Amanda,
        1) a   There is no such rule as when to use query designer or analyzer. Essentially creating a query is done in query designer only. The only thing when using analyser to open query designer is that you can directly go to that query and change it and run the same in the analyser(Excel). To change a query when you directly go to query designer, you need to open the query manually using the "open query" button and you cant execute the report in excel from there(only web). As you can see there is no real difference, in my personal experience using query designer and then running the query on the web is much faster than using the analyser. Also excel has a limit of 65536 rows after which you cant really display the result. There is no such limit in the web analyser.
            b) Report designer is just for creating reports that look good when they are printed basically. You can refer the following link for more info.[http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/5fc0680a876b7de10000000a422035/frameset.htm]
    2)      There may be a problem with maybe the patch level or something. No real idea why this is occuring. You can definitely open the report in excel using the BI7 analyser. Programs -> Business explorer ->Analyzer.
    Regards.

I am currently following some C# tutorials on MVA.
we have just moved from console applications to WPF applications.
For some reason the Designer doesnt open when I create a new project. I get the code screen but not the form designer half (see Below).
I can give a link to the onedrive folder, but for some reason i am unable to post links or pictures.
This is a clean install of VS express 2013 so no settings have been changed. (or set up..)

  • What are some of your favorite practices in GUI design?

I saw a conversation a few weeks ago about LVOOP vs Clusters for passing around data that I found fascinating - and quite informative.  I thought I'd try to open up a discussion about GUI design and see what I could learn.
Edit: to give an example, I have found that I have taken an irrational dislike to tab controls. Instead, I use clusters with a few supporting VIs. Switching the "tab" will just make the proper cluster visible, and the others invisible.  Set each cluster as a type def in the project and just edit that for when I need to change something.  It lets me already have all of my control data bundled, and as a bonus sorts them automatically in Event structures.

    So to sum up:
    Tab Controls -- Bad
    Subpanels -- Good
I wouldn't go that far.  I generally need to be more organized in my block diagram when using tabs, but that doesn't mean they are bad.  Have a state in a state machine for updating each tab.  Then when updating the UI look at which tab the user is on, and only update those UI elements.
There are other limitations to tabs that frustrate me, like .Net controls sometimes do weird things in tabs.  And some times I would have too many tabs and it starts to add rows which get all kinds of confusing.  In these cases I would hide the tabs and replicate the functionality with a single column listbox which changes the tab value.  But at that point it would be just as easy to insert a different VI into a subpanel.

  • Table design help

I have simple table design issue which I would appreciate some feedback on. Lets say I have two tables to start: users and addresses. Both tables have their primary keys of userid and addressid. Assume no two users can share an addresss.
Is it better to have the userid in the address table, so as to associate the addresses to users OR is it better to have a third table only for associating userid's and addressid's? The latter requires an extra table but appeals to me more because the address table remains purely addresses... seems more appropriate for some reason, but I could be wrong.
    Thanks

    Frank Kulash wrote:
    Hi,
When deciding which is the best option, weigh the costs and benefits of each option. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each?
The two-table model is certainly simpler. Joins will be more efficient, and slighltly less storage will be required.
What is the advantage of the three-table model? Why does it appeal to you? In the imaginary world where no two users can share an address, it makes sense to think of resident as an attribute of address. Each address can be related to (at most) one user, just like each address can be related to (at most) one postal code.
But, as others have said, that is an imaginary world. Even if you're designing an application where you know there is some kind of business rule that prevents two users from being at the same address, can you be sure that business rule won't change next month?
So I see the relevant costs ot the two-table design as: (the probablility of proving inadequate in the future) * (cost of re-writing all the queires based on the two-table design)
I see the costs of the three-table design as: extra time needed to write and execute joins + marginal costs of an additional table.
In practice, few applications really treat address as an entity. It's more common for address to be considered an attribute of the person, or, if a person can have multiple addresses, to have a separate table that links each address to a single person, with no attempt to minimize duplicates. You make two key points here that I'd like to highlight, just for re-emphasis to the OP.
The first is that business rules can change. When analyzing data relationships, one should always ask if the relationship definition is immutable or simply a reflection of the current business rule. For instance, gender is considered to be immutable. If gender is a property of the entity being tracked, you can pretty much figure that there will never be but two possible values, and only one value current at any given time. But if the business rule says an entity can only have one address ... that rule is definitely subject to change. So the design should be such as to already allow for a different rule. I spent 21 years at an auto manufacturing plant. When the plant was first built, the business rule was there would only be one line of vehicles, and only one shift a day. The IT people tried to build systems to allow more flexibility, but the business side said NO. They paid for that for the next 20 years. In the case of the OP's example, it is most definetly possible for a person (or business) to have more than one address, and it is just as possible for more than one person (or business) to share a single address. The system should be designed for that regardless of the business rule.
The other big point is that data designers need to pay close attention to what constitutes an "entity" vs. an "attribute". Making that distinction is key to getting a good 3NF design.

  • Forms always marked as need update in Sharepoint designer 2010

Some of the automatically generated task forms in Sharepoint designer are marked 'needs update', when I open them in Infopath I get the dialog that says:
One or more fields in the workflow form have changed. InfoPath will now update the set of available fields. You may need to modify your form view to add or remove the updated fields.
Making a change and publishing it gives a 'publish sucessful' confirmation dialog but the modified date on the form in Sharepoint designer doesn't update and is still marked as needing an update even after I refresh it. Closing and reopening it gives an updated
modification date but the form is still marked as needing an update. What am I missing here?

    Hi ,
I understand that some task forms in your workflow are marked ‘needs update ’even though you have published the changes in InfoPath designer . Can you have a test like this :Create a new workflow with the ‘Start Approval Process ’ action .Publish the workflow
.Then open the task form in InfoPath designer to see whether the ‘need update’ message will show up .
I have met this situation once ,after I restart SharePoint Designer and InfoPath .The problem solves .
