I'm a newby to Treo 700wx. Two questions...

1.  The "start" button that is supposed to open the "Today" page is not working.  I can get to this by using the stylus, but not with the button itself.  Is this a hardware problem?
2.  I have loaded my contacts and phone numbers, but when someone calls in it says "No Caller ID, Unknown number"  Is there some way to set this up?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
If the button is not working that could possibly mean hardware or ROM but it could mean that the button is not mapped properly. To check this, on your device go to Start > Settings > Buttons. There you should see the buttons and what is assigned to them as well as be able to change what you would like the button to do.
A call coming up as unknown is not the phone (usually). Some people can have their number blocked or use a dialing code to block their number on outbound calls. If this is happening with everyone and they claim their number is not blocked then that may be a problem. A hard reset may be able to resolve that. A hard reset will erase everything on the device but restore settings back to default. Make sure your data is backed up before proceeding (Activesync to Outlook on a PC). For further information and instructions on a hard reset please visit kb.palm.com and look up article number 42094 in the Solution ID search field.
Before syncing your data back, make sure a caller's number shows up when they call you. I hope this helps and let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.

  • How can I change my Analog clock displayed back to a Digital one? (Treo 700wx)

Apparently on its own my phone has changed the format of its clock on the upper right hand corner of the treo screen. The clock used to read digital time but now it reads a clock with an hour hand and a minute hand. No one (Sprint) knows how to change it back to digital time. Help!

Take your stylus and tap and hold on the analog clock and you will get a drop down list with two choices analog or digital. Choose digital.

  • TREO 700WX Battery

On two separate occasions, my TREO 700WX battery has rapidly lost its charge at a rate of 10% per hour or more with minimal or no usage. This causes me to virtually need to carry a power cord. For inexplicable reasons on both occasions the loss of battery power ceases spontaneously and the charge is then retained normally.  Has anyone else had this problem? Verizon is at a loss and the retail stores are useless.
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Verizon)

Over the past 2 weeks my battery in my 700wx (Sprint)  has started doing something like that also, and it also won't take a charge.  I leave it plugged in all day at work and all night at home and it continues to lose its charge and now it's completely off and won't charge back up.  I've only had the phone and battery 3 months, which seems like very little time for a battery to die.  I have only been charging it at home over night.  Now I charge it all day at work and still nothing.  I don't use it enough for the battery to run down daily like it's been doing and especially not enough for the battery to not charge.  Is it possible I got a bad battery and what is Palm's warranty policy regarding batteries.

  • Treo 700wx Bluetooth problems.

    Hello All,
My Treo 700wx has problems with the Bluetooth connection turning itself off. It always happens when I roam and at other times too. It has always done this, with several headsets, so I'm pretty sure it's the phone. I've found some post here and other places that indicate this is a common problem, I just haven't been able to find the solution. Any advice would be appreciated.

Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Verizon)

I still have to do a hard-reset of my phone at least twice a day to make the bluetooth work. I've tried 4 different headsets, the one I have now is on the "Approved" list of headsets. It's really quite simple, one of two things causes the problem: 1) The phone looses service (which happens all the time where I live) and it turns the bluetooth off. 2) The phone looses the connection with the headset for a moment (like if I leave the phone on the desk and walk out of the room). I can live with cause #2, but there is nothing I can do about cause #1. From what I understand, customers with a Verizon phone can get a patch to fix the problem. So, do I have to sign up with Verizon to get support for this thing? Come on Palm, this is terrible service.

  • IMAP4/GMAIL Issue with Palm Treo 700wx

Since I got my phone in April I had no problem syncing up my GMAIL account. Over the past month or two however when I download a message to the phone and if I want to delete it, it won't be deleted off the server like it did before. So I have to go manually go into the website and into my GMAIL account and delete messages I don't want that way. Any idea what issue it could be?
    Thanks

Hello sery5951 and welcome to the Palm forums.
Maybe your email account files on your Palm have become corrupted.  Have you tried deleting your account on the Palm, performing a soft reset, and then recreating the account on the Treo?  Once the account has been recreated, try the delete test again.

  • Treo 700wx - Voice speaks announcing caller, calendar, etc

On my Treo 700wx, I had a feature that would have an automated voice speak annoucing the caller, event, alarm, etc.  I never set it up on that phone, it just did it.  Now, I have upgraded to the 800w and I cannot figure out how to make it work the same.  I thought perhaps it was not offered as a feature on this phone, so if that is the case, how do you make it STOP on the Treo 700wx?  Just so I know where to find it or even what it is properly called.
    Thanks!

    Interesting additional information?
Based on the apparent path to the AppleModemOnHold.app in the Console.log, I ran this in AS:
tell application "Finder" to open ("MAC HD:System:Library:Extensions:
    IOSerialFamily.kext:Contents:PlugIns:InternalModemSupport.kext:
    Contents:Resources:AppleModemOnHold.app:Contents:Resources:")
At this point, I'm in entirely unfamiliar territory, but I opened the English.lproj folder, which contained two Interface Builder (.nib) Documents and a Strings File ("Localizable.strings").
One of the .nib documents was named "CallLogWindow.nib," so of course I opened that and was presented with several items, one of which was a window named "Incoming Call Log." But that window looks like a "prototype" window, having entries that look like the result of a test.
Overall, I can't decide whether I was any closer to my goal, and there are many other things in the English.lproj folder. It's 3 am here, so I choose to stop for now.

  • Treo 700WX DUN: Does NOT work in Leopard! Anyone have luck?

I have a Treo 700WX with Sprint. I can't connect with Bluetooth or USB. When I used Tiger I was able to make it work just fine.
Now with Leopard...It does NOT work. The modem disconnects during connection. I just can't get online plain and simple.
At first I was blaming my Treo. But I tested it out on my Vista Partition and it worked! So the problem lies within Leopard.
Apple did a lowsy job on the Networking features in Leopard thus far.
*Has anyone gotten Leopard to use DUN (Dialup Networking) with a cellular Device?*
Again I'm using a Treo 700 WX (Windows Mobile 5) with the 1.15 software installed. I've also tried to install USB Modem (by Mobile-Stream) which enables USB connectivity. It still does not work. Same errors.
I was camping in the middle of nowhere for 5 WHOLE DAYS with no Internet!!!!!!! hehe jk I was actually happy about that. Excuse not to work! :P But there may be a day when I need DUN.
I don't have the "Phone as Modem" through Sprint. However you don't need it on your plan for this phone.

    MikeyPD,
Sprint DUN is working just dandy for me, but I am using phone-as-modem, and with an A900M, not a Treo. You probably know more about the differences than I, but I would expect they both use the same protocols to connect (on both ends).
For me, it was a snap to set things up in Leopard. Actually easier than Tiger. Do you use a standard DUN connection, or must you use some other method for the Treo, running Windows Mobile?
Assuming it is standard DUN, let's go through the steps. First, is there any indication that the Treo is recognizing the connection as a request for DUN service (for example, my A900M clearly states that it is being used as a Data Modem)? Do you have the modem script set to dial #777? OK, here's the "Duh!!!" question: Do you have the modem script set to ignore the dial tone? If you do not have it set to "ignore," it will immediately fail every time.

  • How can I use my Treo 700wx thru Verizon to connect my laptop to the internet?

I've seen many people do this.  Do I need a special cord? How can I make this happen rather quickly?  I'm leaving in a few hours for a road trip and would like to be able to make this happen.  What kind of set up is involved on the phone?  I currently have an unlimited data plan on my account thru Verizon.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice you can give.

I have a Treo 700wx and use Verizon with Yahoo premium mail service. I can send and receive emails but any attachments on incoming mail is "removed" before I receive it. I actually have a message at the bottom of my email that tells me attachments have been removed! Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Is it an option I need to change on my Treo software or what? I receive the attachments fine on my desktop when logged in to my Yahoo account. And I called Yahoo and they verified that their ssytem is working properly.

  • Add "Sent via" Line To Outgoing E-Mail From TREO 700wx

I have a couple of users who would like to have the "Sent via" line added to e-mail that they send from their TREOs.  This is similar to the line added to an outgoing e-mail message when being sent from a BlackBerry device.  Is this possible?  I've looked everywhere in the phone that I can think of, but have come up empty.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Verizon)

AS you've seen on the Blackberrys  that message "Sent by my Blackberry" is basically a footer or signature on the message. On the 700wx to set this up you need to go to Start>Messaging>Menu button>Tools>Options and it should open to the accounts tab at the botton with a signatures button on the right side. Click on the signatures button and There you select the account and whether you want to use it for replies and forwarding as well.

  • Palm Treo 700wx sync with Palm Desktop

Newbie here, so please excuse if this is already in here somewhere!  I've been using Palm Desktop (v4.0.1) syncing with a Sony handheld device (Clie).  The Clie died, and I purchased a used Palm Treo 700wx (Sprint) for both cell phone use and as a PDA.  Darn if I can find anywhere how to sync the Palm Desktop with the Treo 700wx.  Am I missing something somewhere?
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Sprint)

Hello melemiller and welcome to the Palm forums.
The Treo 700wx, running the Windows Mobile operating system, can only sync to Microsoft Outlook.  You will need export the data out of the Sony edition of Palm Desktop and import it into Outlook and then install the Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 software on your computer to sync the Treo to Outlook.  If you are using Windows Vista, you need to use the Windows Mobile Device Center that is included as part of Vista to sync with Outlook.

  • Treo 700wx calendar not synching

Hi, I am using a Treo 700wx and have been using it to synch with Exchange for a year successfully.  I recently had a problem that resulted in a hard reset of my phone so I had to reset up the Active Synch options.  Everything but my calendar is re-synching successfully but even though the calendar is 'checked' for synching, it is not synching and it appears that NO calendar entries have been set.  Would appreciate any advice!  Thanks.
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Sprint)

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums.  It sounds like there is probably a problem with the eas profile on your device.  Go into the profile, start-programs-activesync-menu-options.  Uncheck all boxes, for the exchange profile, then sync.  Once the sync is complete go back into the profile and sync calendar only and test, if successfull then add 1 box at a time sync and test to insure data is moving.  I also assume you are syncing wirelessly not thru the cable.

  • How do I backup my contacts/calendar on my Palm Treo 700wx to my PC?

After loosing my entire address book this weekend due to something not working with my password on my device, I had to hard reset it which I am back at square one. To prevent this again can anyone tell me what I can do so that It will save my contact list and my calendar on my PC? I tried to select it on the Active Sync options but it will not check.. Any help is appreciated
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Verizon)

Have you tried to do a regular sync from your palm to your computer?
After installing the Palm Desktop cd onto your pc, you need to click on the hot sync button (it is one of the applications you will find listed on your device) and then click on the middle hot sync icon. Your device will start to connect to your computer and all your info will be backed up on your pc when the hot sync is done.
