i use lambda and atomic (c++0x) but now as I am working on MAC not able to use them
installed xcode(4.3) and changed compiler settings to LLVM3.1 but still both features are not available
to compile wanted to have g++ which supports c++0x features ...
new to MAC (2-3 days) so was in rush to solution

Why does iPhone rate whole album when it syncs to iTunes rather than just single song sometimes?
I wasn't sure if this should be an iTunes or iPhone discussion, so here goes!
I am very particular about rating my music. Every day at work, as songs play on my iPhone, I give them a star rating. This star rating then transfers to iTunes when I sync my phone. Most times, these ratings go through just fine. Sometimes, however, rather than just rating a single song with three stars on an album... It'll give the whole album in iTunes three stars. (Three stars is just an example.)
What I mean is that if viewing an album list, the album rating will be hard coded per se on the left and give all the songs three stars even if I never listened to / rated them. I can then click to remove the rating on the album on the left, and the unrated / unplayed songs will lose that hard coded rating and return to no rating.
What am I doing wrong? Lol. It drives me crazy! Once a month I view all my albums as a list so I can remove the hard coded ratings. There are usually six or seven albums that'll have it. I do nothing different on the iPhone that I am aware of.
Has anyone else experienced this situation or have a solution? I'm on an iPhone 4S, latest software. This also occurred with my iPhone 3GS
ChrisStill an issue, Apple. iPad with 5.1.1 and I have the same issue. There doesn't appear to be a way to rate a single song.

Why does 'Find My Friends' show arrival time based on PCT rather than GMT
Both my iPhone is set on GMT (British Summer Time) my Macbook Pro is set as GMT (British Summer Time) and the location I have arrived at is in the UK. Yet the 'Find My Friends' alert shows I arrived several hours before I did in fact the same time that it would have been on the West Coast of America.
I have never gotten this to even send me 1 email. Sorry for the useless comment but I'd like to get notified on updates for this one.

I need a router that works with Apple eMac OS 10.3 and is WEP encryption capable.
The WRT54G router has been recommended by TV provider Sky Angle. (I will receive Sky Angle over my DSL modem and must send signal to my TV via wireless router.)
But, I use an Apple eMac running OS 10.3. 1GHz that the router must be compatible with. And, before I buy, I want to get the fastest, newest, compatible version of a wireless router in hopes it will work with any new Apple lap top that I hope to get. Please help! I can't find any way to ask this question to the LINKSYS web site or company. Additionally, what is "G" mode or "N" mode: that might be important in the ultimate model of router to buy.

I am having an issue with my adobe acrobat 9 pro. Every time I try to open a pdf from someone it opens it up with my free adobe reader rather than the Acrobat 9 pro so then I don't have all of the functions of 9 pro. How do I get it to open with 9 pro instead of the free reader?
It may depend on the plugin that is loaded into your browser. However, right click on a PDF and select the Open With option and go to the default button to select Acrobat as the default. That might do it.

I am a long-time Linux user soon to be buying my first Mac in almost 20 years. Is there any tips/advice for someone new to OSX coming from Linux/GNOME. I understand OSX is BSD family and is UNIX 03 compliant as of the current version. Anything important I really ought to know ahead of time?
OS X does not have a package manager of sorts. While it does have various utilities that are open source, they're not distributed via apple as packages. However, there are some third-party utilities that have a similar function. For instance, fink is manager for open source software and is quite useful:

As for hardware support, Apple's solutions are very driver-based. Unlike much of linux where you can tweak a few variables in config files to get a piece of hardware to work, if there's a driver for it then it should work in OS X, but it's largely up to the device manufacturer as opposed to a community effort to get devices working.
As for the basic unix utilities, they are all fairly similar in OS X. We're talking standard shell commands, system tools, and the like. There are some OS X tools that apple has built in, such as those in this list:

You can google around to find lists such as these though. As for a specific program or utility, if it's available in linux then it can be ported to OS X, sometimes with a simple recompile. That's where "fink" is so useful (mentioned above). -
I'm signed up to the Cloud and itunes match - the whole game. But I cam getting annoyed with having to delete songs one by one on my iPhone once dowloaded from the cloud as I only have a 16GB phone....yes I listen to music non-stop! So, I am thinking about getting an iPAD as I rarely use my MacBook Pro for anything other than surfing and music now... so the question is: "On an iPad with iTunes, do you know if you can edit/delete all your tunes on your device with a "clear all" button rather than having to delete a song one by one like you have to do on an iPhone (if not synching via a MacBook/ PC with iTunes account where I know you can clear down and refill with ease)????

You can still deauthorize an individual computer from the iTunes Menus.
You can de-authorize only once a year 'all' computers from your iTunes account page.

If every instance of the class will have the same value for that variable--whether it's final and a constant or not--it makes sense to make it static. There's no need for multiple copies of the same value. (And in the case of non-final variables, it can lead to incorrect program behavior if it's not static.) If each instance of the class could potentially have a different value for that variable, then it has to be non-static. -

Unfortunately what you need is something that is designed for PowerPC Macs. Stuff that is designed for Intel Macs will not work. The PowerPC (PPC) Mac software is getting scarcer. Macs in 2006 shifted to Intel CPUs. Stuff that is designated Universal will work, and you can buy the retail 10.5 if you have no Mac OS 9 related software that needs to load. If you partition your hard disk, or use an external Firewire hard drive partition just for booting into 10.4.11 or earlier, you can still use Classic for Mac OS 9. Only by restoring your phone as a new device using iTunes, or Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You follow this by syncing your content back to the phone. Either that, or you live with it. The data will be overwritten as you use your phone.
