I'm fed up with my laptop seriously thinking about going back to windows

I don't know if you guys are having the same problem as me, but Safari, firefox, icab keep crashing. I can't do anything. Every 10 min or so I get the beach ball and they all crash afterwards. Safari is the worst. This is really ******* me off. what do i need to do. I know windows ***** but at least I could get some work done. This macbook pro isn't even one year old. If you guys have suggestions please let me know/

Seriously thinking about going back to Sky!!

I was hoping to upgrade to Sky Sports so I could watch the Test match tomorrow. I have only been with Btvision since March so I have the latest black box. The trouble is, it seems I have to be on the new "platform" to watch Sky Sports and I cannot get activation for 8 days,(why?) so I cannot watch the Testmatch tomorrow. Disappointed I said OK but you might as well put me on the new platform anyway so I do not have this situation again, this is not possible because you have to upgrade to something, which is rubbish in my opinion.
Sky have been begging me to come back with some great offers, Btvision are making it very hard to stay.
Am I being unreasonable?

Do it mate, I had a BT broadband fault that after 6 months they couldnt fix, and then moving me to the new software caused my box to randomly reboot several times a day and then two new boxes later still had the same issue, so cancelled and switched my broadband to virgin and got Sky back in last week. Best thing ive done for a while.
I really wanted to like BT Vision, infact I did like it, but the content just didnt change enough, and when you hear things about the coming youview im sure it has plenty of promise but I just think there is alot for BT to do to catch up.

Just a general comment, I've gone totally Apple--iPhone, MacBook Pro, iPad and iPod. I'm seriously thinking of going back after a few years since I've spent a fortune and can't change now. If Apple is so bloody wonderful, why do they suck so badly?

As a continuation above, who are the people who have been praising Apple to the heavens? For those of us who aren't tech-savvy, Apple totally blows. There is next to nothing intuitive about their products and they seem giddy about giving their customers extra steps for everything. Why can't I sync my iPhone seamlessly? Why do I always run the risk of deleting my music when I want to sync? Why are there so many steps in creating ringtones? Why does the right-click on the mouse have so few options? Why do I have to click upwards of twenty times on desktop icons to get the file to emerge? Again, I'm not a techie but it seems that Apple is made for people with master's degrees in software programming. I've spent a small fortune on Apple products because Microsoft has become a lumbering dinosaur populated by zit-covered nerds with no concept of how the general public works. Do I go back, especially with that abortion, Windows 8? Or do I wait for the next iteration since Microsoft can only create a decent product with every other release?
I'd like to know what others think. Granted, I'm upset right now, but I've been getting more and more frustrated with Apple. We need a third company out there, kinda like a third political party.

I got the response I was looking for. It's not an issue. New models come out all the time, i agree, but i have exchanged and sorted this out every time, like my iphone 4 to the 4S. and an apple advisor helped me with this.
My question was a genuine question - and funnily enough - the Apple helpline thought it was too.

Seriously thinking about paying the ETF to get out of contract. Will I get bad ESN?

Due to many reasons, I am incredibly unhappy with Verizon (been a customer for many, many years and am finally fed up) and am seriously thinking about paying the ETF to terminate my contract and move to another carrier with a new phone, like the Nexus 5 from Google. However, I would like to sell my Galaxy S3 to help pay the costs. If I pay my last bill and the ETF, will I get a bad ESN on my phone and be unable to sell it? Or, as long as everything is paid in full, including the ETF, will my ESN stay clean?

Having said that, if you maintain a perpetual license, you will have to comply with the new Adobe one-version-back upgrade policy.
So when CS7 is released, you must upgrade in order to qualify for upgrade pricing for CS8. Likewise when CS8 is released, you must upgrade in order to qualify for upgrade pricing for CS9.
There is of course nothing mandatory about upgrading but bear in mind that you can no longer skip a couple of versions and get up to date every 5 years or so at upgrade pricing. You'd have to pay full price for the new suite all over again.
So it's a matter of costing the various options out over a 3 or even 5 year period and budgeting for it.
If you're running a design business, you perhaps also need to consider whether the Adobe software design tools are mission critical or not. Will your other expenses exceed the US$600/year required for the Cloud?

SSince the update, I have no keyboard clicks on my iPad, no sound on many of the apps, And searching with the Duck is like going back to the dark ages. I hate Google but at least it works! I am getting soooo tired of releases that aren't fully de-bugged before they're released.

I have a C6380, The printer works with my laptop running Vista and MacBook but not Windows 7. Why??

I have had my C6380 for quite a while, now. I have a personal laptop running Vista and have no problems. I have a MacBook for work that I use with the printer with no problems. I also have a desktop that was working well for a long time with this printer and for the last number of months (I haven't counted), I have been having a lot of problems.
Either the computer cannot find the driver or the computer delivers a message that the printer is off line (even though it works with the other computers). I use the C6380 via a home wireless network.
Reinstalling the HP Software helps for a short time, but the problem soon recurs.
I cannot seem to find anything in any of the Trouble shooting guides on HP or MS websites. HELP!

If it works on one Firefox 3.6.10 installation, it should work on the other - assuming both PC's have exactly the same version of Norton installed, including that Firefox Toolbar extension. Another possibility is that Norton uses a different version of their software on WinXP than they use on Vista.
Tools > Addons > Extensions - does the Norton Toolbar show as being incompatible?
You could try forcing a Norton program update to see if their Firefox extension gets updated.

RDC with Mac Laptop and Second Screen - Cannot move Mac Windows onto RDC Screen

The older version of RDC 2.1.1 works perfectly with an additional screen. With the new version 8.0.10, although you can launch and use RDC, you can, no longer, move a window over onto the second screen. So RDC works fine, but you do not have the flexibility
of using both screen while RDC is running. This is clearly a backward step from 2.1.1.

There is one expected MAC behavior as on Mac only one app gets focus when you go full screen.

Updated without my permission, and now doesnt work. I'm fed up with firefox and I'm not going to use it again.

When I opened Firefox, I found it automatically updating and trying to see if my add-ons could be updated. After I cancelled this because I didn't want this to happen, nothing is loading. It is not an internet connection issue because I am using Internet Explorer. I am sick of all the crashes and nonsense with Firefox and the constant badgering to update, when I DO NOT WANT TO. I am happy with the version I have and last time I updated I found it almost impossible to go back. Going to switch to Google Chrome

Thanks for the reply.I deleted an app to try your suggestion but as I can't download I have now lost that ap.I don't have it in 'purchased apps' now either as I downloaded it from my iTunes backup from my ipad 2 and that is not showing up any of my purchased apps either.This is a nightmare.Guess I'll have to go back into my iMac and try another backup but then I'll be back to square one.

IIRC, AIM for Windows can do video conferencing with an iChat client on the Mac side, and aMSN is an Open Source alternative for MSN, with a version for Mac OS X, that it supposedly does video conferencing with MSN/Windows as well.

You can buy AppleCare during the whole first year (i.e. as long as it's under the standard warranty). So you could put off that expense for some time.

I have high hopes for the new NeoOffice (Universal Binary), the beta version of which will be released in a day or two. NeoOffice, in earlier, non-universal versions, can do nearly everything MS Office does, and it's free.

Too many issues with upgrading to OS6 for BB9700 - Going back to OS5

I upgraded to os6 severay days ago. Here are the pros and cons (from a non technical perspective)
PROS:
* New look of the calendar and text .... easier on the eyes with different colors
CONS:
* Don't know why but after only a few days, I have to reset the BB 4 to 5 times today. It just locked up and I had to pull the battery.
* THE KILLER - BB developer decided to force the browser to go to my company's network BES, instead of my cellphone carrier's 3G network. Because the company puts so much restraints and limits on accessing the internet from their network, so many websites are locked and off limit.
In the past w OS5. I had 2 icons of browsers, one for the company's browser and one regular browser. I can go to the advanced options to direct the regular browser to go my cellphone carrier 3g network. It worked so well.
Now with OS6, the developers force users to go through their company's BES network. That is crazy. I pay for the Blackberry and the monthly cell phone and internet data plan, and now I cannot use my phone /internet the way I choose .
If the OS6's developers do not listen to users' complaints on this serious issues, then in the near future as my company allows us to access their email and outlook contacts via droid and Iphone, I will be the first to say good bye to Blackberry.

You are confusing RAM with hard drive space - you appear to have the standard amount of RAM (the memory a computer uses to run apps). 4 GB is fine, but considered a minimum - more would be better.
As for the hard drive space (that is the space you have available on your hard drive to read/write): you need 8 GB minimum to install Mountain lion and, as a general rule, you should maintain a minimum of 10 - 15 GB of empty space at all times - more is better there as well. You can find out how much space you have by highlighting your hard drive icon (Macintosh HD icon on your desktop) and control click on it. In the popup window, choose Get Info. Then post the info showing such as Capacity, Used, and Available.
FWIW, Mountain Lion will continue to show in your Purchases because it is available for you to download again should you need it. You obviously have it installed if it shows that you are running 10.8.3 - which, but the way, is not the latest version, so run Software Update: we are up to 10.8.5.

FF36: Sites with background image flickers/flashes when going back to tab after 2 minutes.

Figure I'll mention this here as well.
When viewing websites with background images, such as twitter.com or my own website at www.markheadrick.com and I change to another tab for 2 minutes (this amount of time is repeatable anyway) I get a flicker of a black background before the page is fully drawn. If I have multiple tabs with the same background image, only the first tab will show the flicker. It's like it's loosing the image in memory or something. It has done this with Firefox in Safe Mode and with a new, clean profile. It has also done this with Hardware Acceleration off.
Windows 7 Pro 64bit w/ NVidia 550ti and 314.22 drivers. Newer drivers are more problematic which is why I have stayed with these.
Again, only pages with background images seem to show this flicker. Did not happen with Firefox 35 on my system.

I'm seriously thinking about getting an iPod

Okay, ever since I bought my Zen Micro, I've been having problem after problem with it... well, not since I got it... the first couple of weeks or so was great, and then there were problems.
Firstly, there was the headphone jack problem, now it isn't a huge issue but it is annoying and I was quite shocked that no one had mentioned it before I bought the Micro (in late september this year). I sent an email to creative about it, I got a general reply back (Oct 7) and then I never got any kind of a reply after that.
A recent issue I've had is that my Micro crashes whenever I attempt to load it up. I believe there are... 4 (?) loading screens, however mine gets to the second and freezes, forcing me to remove the battery in order to turn it off. (It's stayed like that for up to 20 minutes before I've turned it off.)
I was told it could be a firmware problem, and like an idiot, I listened. Upon trying to update the firmware I met the same roadblock in my efforts, it freezes when my player attempts to reboot, so I'm currently left with a useless, though nice-looking, hunk of plastic on my desk.
This is especially distressing as I've been wanting this product since september last year, and I was extrememly happy when I recieved it this september. I sent an e-mail to customer services concerning this issue, however I thought that asking for help here may also be benificial, especially considering how my last e-mail went...

My stock response to those who want an iPod for higher reliability:
iPods have problems. In fact a recent straw poll I saw (not on a support forum) showed that around a third of users had returned their iPods at least once. This is aside from two class action suits against Apple over reliability of their players, and the recent bad press about the durability of both the iPod Nano and the iPod Video. And as an anecdote the only friend I have that owns an iPod had to return his twice due to battery issues.

Frustrated with the latest version of Aperture, going back to Lightroom....

Yesterday I wanted to dig into my library to pull some images of my kids for a calendar. I have 2010 images inside the library, while previous years reside on another HD in my Mac Pro. I became increasingly frustrated as I had to wait for Aperture to generate previews for the external images. With thousands of images it takes much too long.
Any ideas to prevent Aperture from having to do this each time I open the program? I really do not want to add all of these images into the current library, it would end up being nearly 500GB in size.

Pressing and holding the 'Shift' key when launching Aperture should tell it not to generate previews (hold until fully loaded).
You can then go to 'Aperture menu > Preferences' and in the General section deselect the 'New projects automatically generate previews'.
Close the preferences dialog and then relaunch Aperture normally and you should be good.
Note - if for some reason you want to remove all previews you can select 'Photos' in the library inspector > select all images > Photos menu > Delete Previews command.
You can create new previews manually anytime by selecting an image (or multiple) > Photos menu > mouse-over 'Update Previews' while holding down the 'Option' key (which will turn the menu item to 'Generate Previews').
