I'm getting a LOUD constant noise after reinatlling all

Hi everyone:
Oh man, does this feel bad. Can anyone help?
I had to wipe and rebuild my drive after 9 months of fun with Logic and quite a bit of successful work. After a few months of distractions and general ****, I think I have everything back the way it was (all updates, pro app, etc.).
Some older songs open and play with no problems, but when I open the recent ones, the Projects on the CD I've been working on for months, and I hit play, I get a deafening noize, a constant buzzy hum, that drowns out the music and rather knocks me off my chair. I haven't had this problem before. Here's what I tried:
- muting all tracks
- double checking all clock settings
- voodoo rituals
- playing iTunes (same I/O). Works fine
My system is:
G5 dual 1.8, 1.25 gigs ram
OSX 10.3.9 (I like it)
motu 2408 mark 3
apogee rosetta 800
Logic 7.1
Stylus RMX, BFD, UAD-1, URS EQ's, Waves IR-1 and RenMaxx, Guitar Rig, and a few others.
Can anyone please help? It's all for naught until this gets addressed. THANKS!!!

Hi William,
This sounds initially like a corrupted audio files.
Although now I read your " all tracks muted" comment and wonder...
Look at the audio wave forms for the audio files involved, are they normal looking or do they look like a big black block?
If the latter is true, the audio file has been corrupted.
(you could try playing the individual files from the audio window as a quick way to visually examine and audition the audio tracks.)
If you have back-up audio for the files involved, reload the song with the back -up files and try.
Here's a couple other things you can try to run it down:
Make a copy of one of the offending files and remove all audio tracks and see if you still get the noise.
conversly, open a new clean autoload ( that does not make the noise)
and paste all your audio files (from an effected file) into it and see if you still have the problem..if you do this and it happens, it definitely is the track files..
Hope this helps,
Daniel

    Hi there,
You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.
Thanks, let me know if the update helps,

  • 27" I Mac, constant loud fan noise after replacing hard drive. Help

Having constant problems with noise since replacing my HD, which failed miserably.  Best Buy installed a 1T Seagate, sounded like airplanes taking off, took it back and they installed a Western Digital Cavair Green 1T.  Noise starts out soft, gets increasingly loud.  Can hear it running in another room.  Hate this- any suggestions.  I've already done the reset thing twice, no help.

Is it a late '09? Is the noise the fan? And was your first HD a Seagate as well, with the correct temp sensor cable? Here's an explanation. Surely Best Buy would know that but maybe not. A 1TB Seagate is listed as working in the article, but it has to be a HD with the temp sensor inside, not attached to the outside of the drive.

  • Dual G5 2.0 hard drive makes loud clicking noises after installing Leopard

I installed Leopard on my Dual G5 2.0, did a clean install. Worked fine for a couple of days but now it is unusable, the hard drive makes loud clicking noises and the computer slows down, can't even properly shut it down. All worked perfectly with Tiger installed.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks and happy new year!

Ha... "Cheers" is not convincing coming from an angry man like you.
In English PC stands for Personal Computer:
    http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=personal%20computer
    and
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_computer
So a Mac and a Windows Machine can both be a PC. In fact I believe Apple coined the phrase PC, but I could be wrong.
I've been using Mac for 20 years, never had any issues. However my windows machines are very inefficient, it's difficult to get them to work with a printer, much less any of the multi media apps and equipment I use. My windows Machines are useful to me as test boxes and running some apps I don't have on my Macs. Sure Office works great on them, but I don't do spread sheets and such for a living.
I'm sorry that you are having bad luck, or are you making this up? You are a apple rep? Do they know that you are posting on the Apple site and advising users to buy a PC, hmm George Lelapinou the French Apple hater?
So, sorry old comrade but PC stands for personal computer, not Microsoft, and my PC is working 100% now, as my Macs always do, it appears it just needed to be cleaned. Now if only my crappy Peugeot would work after getting cleaned... I joke, I kid, iJoke.

  • Mac Pro loud fan noise after 2-3 hours

Hi. I bought a Mac Pro quad 2,66 with 5 Gb ram for about a year ago. Everything works well, but after 2-3 hours the Exhaust and CPU fan starts to raise and when checking iStat it stays at about 3000 rmp for Exhaust and CPU. The noise is bad...This happens even if the Mac is not in use (any programs running) The temperature inside the Mac is low - about 30 degrees (Celcius) and the fans do not slow down until i restart the Mac. I have tried the Reset of the SMC. There is no difference after resetting the SMC....
    Any suggestions??

I have been dealing with a Mac Pro for the past 6 months in my sound studio having a constant vacuum from the fan. I assumed this was normal and a purchasing oversight I made. It was far from silent, infact it was so loud it sounded (on recordings) like a car was constantly in the room idling. Very annoying.
I took apart the mac pro thinking there would be maybe dust (as people suggested) in my video card - as that appeared to be where the sound was coming from. I removed the card, and there wasn't really a build up of dust.
I did however put the card back into a slot (it was on the bottom slot closest to the ram - maybe it couldn't breath?) and turned it back on and for the first time since October 08 I have the computer I paid for and not an oversized noise box.
So there is obviously something dodgy about this ATI card Apple. Its actually really quite annoying and dealing with a nuscense noise for 6 months on a computer you drop thousands and thousands for is just ********.

  • Won't boot, loud fan noise after kernel panic?

So I got that kernel panic screen yesterday, turned it off, and now when I try to turn it on, the screen remains black and the fan comes on really loud. After about 30 seconds it stops. I tried inserting the original disc, but it won't go in the whole way. I've been using the laptop pretty heavily lately, but haven't damaged it that I know of. The battery has been dead for a while now - relying completely on the adapter.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have a similar problem. My son was using the computer at the time so I don't know if he saw the kernel panic. The screen is black and the computer won't boot. The fan runs loudly and doesn't stop. The battery is relatively new, about six months old. I've tried plugging in an external monitor but there's no signal.
I have tried two different power adapters. One has showed orange and quickly went to green, then the light went out. The second adapter is third party but it seems to be getting power to the Mac. To complicate matters further, there is a DVD stuck in the drive. If the Mac is dead, I'd like to at least get the DVD out of the drive!
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

  • Loud fan noise after re-install

After I had to re-install - I am able to hear my fan all the time. The support technician told me it will go away after awhile.... but how long is 'a while' - it's been a good three weeks.

    Chris Coetzee wrote:
Thanks - now that I have the Console and Activity Monitor... what should I be looking for?
In the Activity Monitor, I have bunch of stuff but they are all 0.0 in the CPU column....
The console also give me a bunch of data, but I don't know what's normal...
    Thanks
If you click on the CPU tab, it will "flip" the column from max usage to min usage. Be sure the top item is the one using the most CPU clicks.
If there is nothing unusual there (on my computers, Safari takes the most CPU time, about 10%.
You can also click on the items on the lower graphic area to see a short history of things.
If the noise is the fan, you are looking for a process that is taking up many CPU cycles, causing overheating. If nothing is there, it may be a bad heat sensor or something making your fan run at top speed all the time. It could also be that a fan bearing is going bad.
The console would also show up any errant process. If you click Console Messages and look at the recent ones, you would see if something were very wrong.
The other thing is to note if your computer is getting hot, meaning that the fan is really needed.
If nothing shows up, you may need to take the computer into an Apple store for service, since if the fan stops working, you will certainly overheat the computer and possible damage some silicon.

  • Keyboard creating loud fan noise after coffee spill

After a coffee spill my keyboard has been creating my fans to run very loudly.  The temp. is still pretty normal at 40C.  When I have the computer on and disconnect the keyboard, the fans return to normal.  I've tried cleaning everything inside and removing the fans and putting them back in.  Is there anything else I can do?  Thank you.

Go to the Apple Store after you have made an appointment with the Genius bar.  Liquids are the kiss of death to keyboards.  Sorry to give the bad news.
    Ciao.

  • Get a LOUD repeating sound after upgrading to Leopard

I just installed Leopard on two mac minis and a macbook and all three will, quite suddenly give a loud ear-piercing repeating BRRRRRRR sound (kinda like a very high-pitched sports car that never shifts) that will only stop when the computer is placed on mute (when I lower the sound volume the sound does not dissipate -- it's either on or off).
I talked to Applecare and was told that no one else seems to have this problem (nice to be unique), and thought it was because of a faulty install disk. I did a Time Machine backup, traded the disk in at the Apple Store, and then did an erase and install (clean install) and then put my programs back on via firewire from an external hard drive - and the problem persists. It sometimes happens when I have external speakers on (which is a very nice affect!) and sometimes without external speakers.
    Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

I just try to find out the reason. Did someone of you ever install "TheftSensor" from Orbicule (This used to be an alarm system for the MacBook to be switched on and off by the Apple Remote)?
I just ask, because TheftSensor made an alarm sound which could not be stopped in any way, except switching off the Mac or removing the battery.
    Thanks!

  • Clicking noise after every still photo and chapter introduction.

After we have burned the DVD of our movie, we could hear loud clicking noises after every still photo and every chapter intro. These we could not hear in iMovie. The sound from the video camera was pulled all the way down on the clips following the stills.

    Hi HailGalvatron,
It's very possible that the new drive is DOA. It's not very common but it certainly happens. The drive shouldn't "click" or "grind" when the drive platter is spinning. If you're not able to detect the volume on the drive properly via Disk Utility (when booted to a CD/DVD), I'd say it'd be worth getting the drive exchanged.
I have a few Seagate Momentus drives in my stable of external drives and they've behaved pretty well over the years. I believe the issue that other users were reporting were with a specific 60GB model found in the first generation of MacBooks.

  • I can record only loud white noise

i have tried to use both a digi 002r and m-audio fast track pro as audio i/o. when i try to enable the input button or record anything on a track i get only loud white noise. seems like a feedback loop in the record and playback but i am baffled. when i tried recording, using only the internal mac ins and outs, i had no trouble.
i am a pro tools guy trying logic for the first time.

This is interesting... The same thing happened to my MOTU 828 mkII. It happened right after I installed the Logic 8 upgrade. To verify it wasnt just the interface dieing, I opened up some standalone programs (absynth, and reaktor) and checked their inputs. The same thing happened on those inputs, fullscale nasty digital noise... so I figured it was the interface, and I sent it out for repair. I just got it back, and everything is working fine.
But this is very curious this happened to you, using different interfaces... Do you have any standalone software with audio in? Try checking that.

Hi John. Thanks for that input. At Step 6, after clicking "Next" I get a window telling me my OS version is unsupported and the installation may not complete. I am prompted to go to Canon's web site to "Check Latest Info".
I've had this window on previous attempts and from Canon's web site I downloaded two drivers as follows
    - ICA Driver V4.0.0
    - Canon IJ Network Tool V4.5.0
I'm not sure if these are the correct / complete drivers I need for this install or not.
I continue to follow all the steps. At step 9 I click "Wireless Set Up using USB" amd get a License Agreement (a little different than instructions)
I click "Agree" and it goes to a Setup window with two progress bars showing the installation. I've not been prompted to connect the USB?
After the Setup window is done, I am then prompted to connect the printer via USB. I connect the printer and click on "Redetect". It is not detected.
I then try following the Canon on screen instructions for connecting to the wireless LAN amd enter the password. It searches and indicates "Connecting" on the window, but it never connects and the blue light just blinks
So, at this point I am stuck??
    Thanks
    Stephen

  • IMac loud whirling noise when asleep and after shutdown

For the last two or three days I have noticed a loud whirling noise when my iMac goes into sleep mode.  Today it is now doing so after shut down.  The only way to get it to stop is to be logged in and working or unplugging the machine.  I have a 21.5 iMac and its only 6 months old. Any ideas?

Contact Apple's Express Lane since it's under warranty. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you might be eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine (depends on where you're located).  BTW, the AppleCare Protection Plan's the best warranty policy available for desktop machines. Get it if you don't have it before contacting Apple.
