I'm getting forum emails even though I am not subscribed

I susbscribe to messages that I post or that I have responded to, but suddenly, I'me getting every message that's posted to the Illustrator forum. Make it stop!

Glad that you got it sorted out. As there are several ways that one can setup (intentionally, or not) e-mail notifications, it's sometimes tough to figure out exactly where, and how, one has to undo it. I've even doine an article in the Premiere forum on how to undo most of the notifications, but there are probably still ways/places that I missed. One poor user seemed to have subscribed to every Adobe forum, based on his descriptions and the sheer volume of the e-mail that he was getting. You are not the first, nor will you be the last.
As I only want notification on but a very few of even my own posts, it's easy for me - so long as I do not hit something by accident.

You may be subscribed in the larger category. I'm sure you have checked the "my subscriptions" to the right in this discussion forum. I'm new to this forum and just getting used to it, so I'm not sure if this will help. You would see a "binoculars" avatar next to your subscribed topics. Plus, in the "my subscriptions" page, check the two top choices. You may have "yes" checked for topics that you create AND for topics that you respond to. This will create susbscriptions of which you may not be aware. Again, just some ideas. I"m a "newbie." BF

Receiving messages even though I'm not subscribed to any discussion groups

Today I went to my e-mail and found I had received literally 100 messages from a discussion thread from the "iPod" discussion group under digital life despite the fact that I am NOT subscribed to any group and have no subscriptions showing under "My Subscriptions". I also would not have used this, my primary e-mail address, had I known this was possible, but since it is my Apple ID as well, I had no option to use another.
I contacted Apple support but they could not offer any help other than to say I could block all the e-mails coming from Apple. This simply isn't acceptable as I do receive e-mails from Apple from time to time that I do want to receive.
I simply was trying to assist another iPod user who had their Nano stolen with some of my experiences and tips. Had I known I would be in danger of getting bombarded with e-mails for doing so I never would have partcipated in the group.
Making matters worse the representative (Breanna) I called at support was no help and actually repeated several times that this was not her job and that she simply could not help. I thought Apple took great pride in their customer support? I need to be removed from the forum or whatever it takes to stop these e-mails from coming in.
Since I have no control I can only assume that 100 might just be a small portion of what might be coming...
Please stop this for me!!!!

Thanks, but I have checked that and have even gone to "My Subscriptions" and it shows that I have subscribed to nothing. I even tried subscribing and unsubscribing to this particular discussion group to see if that would help and I am not showing anything that says I'm subscribed to any group.
The point is I never chose to subscribe to anything. It takes an overt act, a selection on the icon to subscribe. I never did select, press or otherwise choose to subscribe to anything. I thought I was simply replying to a post that I thought I could help someone with. I was very careful when I was signing up to be able to post to NOT select to receive any e-mails, notices or subscribe to anything. I don't understand how this could happen if I never chose to do so unless there is a problem in the server or in the security of the site. It sure makes you not want to try and help anyone here again...

Continualy getting mass emails even though they are deleted. Everytime a new email comes in I get 400 old ones..delete them, new one comes in..400 old ones return..?

Everytime I get a new email on my computer, 400 old deleted ones come back. I delete them, a new email comes in, and I get 400 more. It is constant. Any ideas how to stop this? Thanks

Your Mac doesn't run Classic or Mac OS 9. Best to post in the forum that closest resembles the e-mail client. If it is the postage stamp e-mail program that comes with Mac OS X, pick the Mac OS X version here, after going to Apple menu -> About This Mac to find your Mac OS X version:

Generally if you mix gmail, AOL, with or IMAP and POP3 it is possible you have a mix of e-mails sitting on the internet and on your computer, and the Inbox will combine both if you click the wrong one in Mac OS X Mail. Be sure to know what accounts you have selected by selecting the mail program's preferences.
IMAP normally is server only, where POP is normally local to your machine. Other e-mail programs have other designations usually described in your mail program's preferences. When you delete you have to make sure the server copy is removed of any e-mails you really don't want, or get all e-mail locally and immediately delete off server. You should backup your data even more regularly if you keep e-mail locally on your computer. See my FAQ on backing up:

When i send an imessage to another person with imessage, my husband also receives the message, even though it was not sent to him. We have always been on the same itunes account and not had this problem, however, when i added the ipad, this started.

As a side note, my daughter received an itouch and both my husband and i were getting all messages she sent, no matter which one of us they were sent to. I turned her imessage off. We have all of our devices under the same itunes account so that we can share all music and apps. How can we get around this? You can have a separate AppleID only for iMessage and keep using the other one for iTunes.
Just change the AppleID used for iMessage in Settings > Messages > Receive At

I wouldn't be too concerned. The most likely cause is that someone is attempting to login and made a mistake in entering their Apple ID and typing yours instead. So, they are getting an error and offer to reset their password. But the email that generates is being sent to the real owner of the Apple ID they are entering, you. If you are really concerned, you can go to the Apple support site and reset your password yourself to be on the safe side.

I want to change my user ID email, but can't because it's used as a back up Email, even though I've deleted it as a back up.

Ok I'm goin to call your old Apple ID #1 your new email you want to use #2 and another email #3.
- go to http://appleid.apple.com
- select manage your apple id
- sign into #2
- edit primary email and change it to #3
- save changes and sign out
Now
- sign into #1
- edit primary
- change it to the email that was used for #2
- save changes
- check #2's email inbox for verification email
- verify account
If done correctly you should be fine, also in terms of #3 that would be an email you have that you dont mind being an apple id that you wont use. Sorry for the funny way of explaining just thought it would be shorter to type out lol.
Note: Once changes have been made you must sign out of features such as iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, iTunes & App Store as they will still display the old Apple ID. Sign in with new email but same password as normal.

some thing is runnng in the back ground. Or your email is struck. Deleted all emails and reboot phone and add them one by one. Or your sim cards has problem. Replace sim card. If nothing works drain battery then recharge battery to 100% full charge.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1

Hook it up to itunes and check the version. If it lists in the info that it is 5.0 or 5.0.1, then your ipod has imessage.
If it turns out that an update is available, apply the update. Check your ipod version from Settings > General > About. Anything lower than iOS 5 won't have iMessage.

Opening in the sidebar is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website.
You can check the properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; Command+B on Mac).
In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.
Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" is not selected.
