I'm getting messages on my iMac telling me I don't have enough app memory after updating to Mavericks. This eventually freezes my computer.

I'm getting messages telling me I don't have enough application memory and I need to close my apps. I have 1 TB of memory installed and I'm only using 800,000 GB of memory leaving 900,000 GB free. Eventually this freezes my mac or makes it impossible to use. I've used Terminal to repair permissions. I've turned my iMac off and then on again. Nothing works for longer than a few minutes. The best fix seemed to be opening one app at a time. But even this failed after 10 minutes or so. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the maximum of 4 GB of RAM installed. I have 850 GB of hard drive space remaining. I've looked that the two articles noted in replies to my question. Perhaps it is an issue with not enough RAM as Mavericks is RAM intensive. That leaves only one option and that is to purchase a new desk top computer with more RAM, as minimizing the number of apps open doesn't always work. Any other suggestions?

That would be problem number 1.  The device MUST be connected to the Internet to download software updates.
I am guessing you are trying to download an iOS update, common causes for the error you mentions are Anti-Virus or Firewall software on the computer preventing files from downloading.

Check for 'others' in iTunes against your iPhone.
Restore from a previous backup to reclaim some of it.

  • TS1503 iTunes keeps telling me I don't have enough space to sync the songs and it clearly says 3 GB free and yet it won't sync. Has anyone had this issue ever? Before a week ago I could fit 900 songs and now I can't fit 300.

Okay guys iTunes keeps telling me I don't have enough space to sync the songs and I know that is BS because it clearly says 3 GB free and yet it won't sync. Has anyone had this issue ever? Before a week ago I could fit 900 songs and now I can't fit 300. I know that my phone could fit 800-900 songs and there aren't many apps. There has to be a glitch. Can someone help? Please send me a response if you truly know the answer.

You would have to put more money in the account.
You must be able to pay for the song and associated taxes.

  • HT201250 i'm getting message: can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents. and he operation can't be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003).

I took my computer in to have the Backup restored onto my computer after having a new harddrive put onto my 1year 1/2 old MacBook Pro. When i got it home there was a new User that i had to logout of to getting into my normal user. Don't know why this was, just figured the Mac guys that installed my backup did this for some odd reason. Today i could not open any of my files in the backup on the time machine. All the folder had line going thought them and when i clicked on them I revieved this message: can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents. After talking with that same mac store. I decided to just delete all the files out of the time machine as it was just put back on my computer and i have everything i need. Hours later when i tried to empty the trash i got this messsage: the operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003).
Any advise how to fix my problem?
    thanks in advance

While you see a single trash can, in reality there are trash folders on each mounted volume.  I don't use TM but what you are describing implies that a TM drive is no different with the way trash is treated.  So when the TM is unmounted the trash folder on there is gone and thus the trash looks empty.  Remount the drive, the trash folder on it now causes the trashcan to look like something is in it.
If TrashIt! could not remove the file, I'm sorry, you will need to use the terminal.  We can do this one step at a time so you only have to copy/paste the lines into terminal (except the first time).  So launch Terminal (in utilities).  You might want to make the window that is shown a bit larger with the grow box since it's pretty small.
This first line is the only exception to the copy/pasting since you have to enter some information.
    sudo ls -laR /Volumes/your-TM-volume-name/.Trashes
where your-TM-volume-name is the name of your TM volume.  That's the part you have to fill in since I don't know it.
When you hit return the sudo in that command will cause a prompt for your admin password.  Enter it and hit return again.  Note the password will not be shown as you type it.  Post the results so I can tell you what to do next.
Note this ls command is not doing anything but listing the files in the TM's .Trashes folder.  Remember I said each drive has it's own trash folder.  .Trashes is it.

  • Why is my Creative Cloud desktop app telling me I don't have any apps installed, when in fact I do?

Just noticed this forum so thought I'd post my question in here too...
So, I [think] I just downloaded the latest CC desktop app/manager and when it finished etc and opened up, it's now telling me that I don't have any apps installed. I do, I have PS, AI, InDesign etc etc etc.
Why is the new desktop app wrong all of a sudden? Why isn't it recognising what apps I have downloaded on my computer?
I've just installed PS 2014, expecting it to tell me 'you've already got this on your computer' but it didn't, I just carried on with the install as if I didn't already have it [it doesn't appear to of doubled up]...why isn't it 'synced', what am I missing?
    Thanks in advance

  • ITunes telling me I don't have enough access privileges

My iPOD won't sync with my itunes library because it's saying I do not have enough access privileges for this operations.
I have admin privileges running XP and using iTunes 10.1.2.
    Any help would be appreciated...

I'm not sure what it means. I was just sitting here playing around on the internet, and I had iTunes running in the background and listening to music. So every now and then I go to iTunes to see what is playing or coming up next, and there is an alert there telling me that I don't have enough access privileges to save the music library. I didn't even try to save anything at all. I didn't do anything to it.

  • ITunes is telling me I don't have enough space to do a backup, even though I have 26 gb free. My iPhone only has 6 gb of stuff on it.

I tried pointing the backups to a 1tb empty external drive, and it still told me I didn't have enough space. All this to try and fix the problem that I can't connect to the cellular data network with my iPhone 5. So far, I have had an extremely negative experience with this phone.

  • HT204053 my phone is telling me I don't have enough backup storage on icloud.  What can I do?

My phone keeps on telling me it didn't back up to icloud for the past 6 weeks due to not enough storage.  What do I need to do without buying more storage or changing my storage plan?

Reduce your storage as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4847, or start backing up to your computer instead by disabling iCloud backupon your phone and syncing with iTunes.

  • My iTunes is telling me i don't have enough space on my iPod to sync

I have just deleted plenty of music and apps and should have more than enough space, but still i'm unable to sync. Can someone help me?

    Hello MartinDev88,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing when trying to sync your iPod touch.  I recommend the following steps for the issue you described:
    Symptoms
"iPod touch cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes Library (additional space required)."
    Resolution
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
    Restore using iTunes.

  • Getting a message when trying to sync my iphone music to my imac "Attempting to copy to disk Macintosh HD failed. Don't have enough access privileges for this operation." How do I fix this?

How do I fix the following problem when I try to sync my iPhone music to my iMac?  "Attempting to copy to disk Macintosh HD failed. You don't have enough access privleges for this operation."

    Hey veo1,
I found the following information about that error message:
These messages occur if permissions are incorrect on your designated music folder or on a folder inside your designated music folder. Permissions are settings that determine who can read, write to, or execute a file or folder on your computer. Every file and folder on your hard disk has an associated set of permissions.

  • I cannot connect to FaceTime, encountered "error processing registration, please try later" message on my Macbook Air, but I don't have this problem on my IMac. Can anyone help?

I cannot connect to FaceTime, encountered "error processing registration, please try later" message on my Macbook Air, but I don't have this problem on my IMac. Can anyone help?

I have the same problem on my iMac. My facetime has been working, but now I'm getting the same error as You. I've been through the following:
The stuff that Linc Davis suggested, new profile on iMac, moved iMac into DMZ zone with no firewall rules, tested with other Apple-ID, checked hosts file, checked different timezone settings, tried to connect to 2 mobile APs (with diferent providors), changed DNS servers (ISP's DNS + Google DNS + Open DNS) - Nothing helped. Also talked to Apple Support, since i have Apple Care, but the seem to be a bit clueless also Well I've mailed them the results of my different tests, so lets see what they come up with - Unfortunately I'm sure it will be the same suggestion as all the major PC manufactures suggests, reinstall and test - RIGHT !!!!!!
If I get solution, I'll post it here.
    Kind Regards
    Kim
