I'm getting messages that I need to update Firefox. I have installed version 7.0.1. What's the deal?

I want to check out Google + . I'm getting a message that says: Your Browser is no longer supported.
Google+ no longer supports your browser. Please upgrade your browser.
The message also says Google + is supported by Firefox 3.6 and up. I have Firefox 7.0.1

Your UserAgent string in Firefox was messed up by an addon that you installed.

  • Can't sync my phone after updating. Only getting message that I need to restore (which I have done several times now)

I, sadly like so many others, updated to the bug filled 5.0.1 and my phone had an error. I got the little link to iTunes and nothing else on my phone after it shut down. Once I did that I have an option to set up as a new phone or restore to my last sync (earlier in the day). I have run the restore three times and each time the phone goes through and shuts down. When it turns back on I have signal, 3G, contacts, text history, calendars, and photos as well as a few apps. Most of my apps are gone and my music library is empty. When I link the phone back to sync I get the same message as initially, that I need to set up as a new phone or restore.
I don't have time to go to an Apple Store to get this worked on and I'm pretty disgusted that Apple has been virtually silent on this matter. Most of the answers I have seen to the various problems people are reporting are coming from other users.
If anyone out there has an idea for me to try, please share. Apple if you're reading this you NEED to do something ASAP because I was planning on getting a new phone after the holidays but if I have to get one now it may not be another iPhone (which this is my third version of over the past 4 years) as I'm not spending the money on myself right before the holiday so it'll be free/discounted phone with updated contract for me, and we know Apple doesn't do that!!

iTunes places the .ipsw file here:
    OSX:
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
    XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
    7 &Vista:
    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
Find and delete any and all .ipsw files on your computer. There should only be one, but delete all that you find. Next, disable ALL firewalls & security software on your computer. Connect your phone, iTunes running & restore from backup. Follow this by syncing your content back to your phone.
This will force iTunes to re-download the .ipsw file, as I suspect yours is corrupt.

  • I get messages that I need to upgrade Firefox but when I do I keep getting the messages, including from Firefox. The "help-troubleshooting" tab says I'm using version 8.0.1 but this isn't recognized by others.

I get messages from gmail, Pandora, and Firefox that my browser is outdated but when I upgrade to version 8.0.1 I still get the messages. No one seems to recognize the upgrade.

  • False message that I need to update Firefox

Hi, I am using Firefox 26, which I understand is the latest version. My PC is set to auto update Firefox. I was just on ebay when a new Firefox window opened with the message that I have Firefox 26 and need to update to the latest version, and offering me a box to click. I closed it and clicked About Firefox, which confirms I have the latest version. A while later it opened again, and there was also a gambling site in the window. I also noticed that ebay pages I had open in other tabs were periodically refreshing without being asked to, and for no obvious reason. I went to make a cup of tea and when I returned my PC was showing my log-in screen and when I logged in I got a message that Windows had closed unexpectedly. I did a Norton full system scan which found nothing, but I am still wondering if the update Firefox message was a spoof inviting me to download some malware, as there is no later version than 26. My Firefox is also set to empty the cache and cookies every time I close it. I have read the other threads about erroneous reports from websites that Firefox needs updating, but this did not seem to fit those circumstances. The only sites I had open were my email and ebay, neither of which has ever shown any problem with Firefox before.
Grateful for any views / advice.
    Bill.

Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated,<br><br>
<u>'''''DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS'''''</u>.<br><br>
While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be <u>'''''Malware or a Virus'''''</u>.
Any time you want or need to check for upgrades,
go to the web site of the <u>'''''True Owner'''''</u> of the program in question.
For example, to check out Firefox, go to '''''[https://www.mozilla.org Mozilla.org]'''''
or '''''[http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ Firefox In Any Language]'''''.

  • I can not open my documents I made last week - I get a message that I need to upgrade and I have the latest download?!

pages is not letting me open my documents I made last week. I get a message that I need to update my software. I am up to date.
    What to do?

It sounds like you have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

I tried quitting and starting again but it just jumps back to the same spot.

It is quite large, but I have tried two of the fixes suggested and things now seem to be moving along.

  • How do I upgrade my browser?  I have Mac OSX 10.6.8 and Safari5.1.10.  Keep getting messages that I need to upgrade

I have a Max OS X 10.6.8 with a Safari 5.1.10 browser.  I keep getting messages that my browser needs to be upgraded but can't find out how to do it and what I should upgrade to.  I am prettu computer challenged so would appreciate any help and please keep it simple!  : - )

Apple Safari updates are linked the OS X system upgrades, only. The most recent version of Safari for OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard isn't recent enough.
Instead of, or in addition to, try Mozilla FireFox web browser, instead.
Mozilla FireFox web browser is a stand alone, Mac-friendly web browser that gets continual updates without having to upgrade/update your entire OS X system.
The current, up-to-date version of FireFox is fully compatible with OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
    Good Luck!

  • When i click to play song  I get message that file can not be found, would I like to locate it?  What do I do?

When I click on songs I purchased. I get message that "song could not be used because original file could not be found.  Would you like to locate it?"
I used to be able to play them,  What do I do?

It means the media is not where iTunes expects it to be.
iOS devices are not and have never been backup devices.
Are the files in question still on the computer?
If not, you should restore them from the backup of the computer.  You do have a backup, correct?

  • On new MBP I keep getting message that I need to shut down and then restart

I just got a new 13" MBP. I took the old 500GB 7200 rpm HD (which was operating perfectly) out of my old 13" white MB and put it in the new MBP. Now at boot I get as far as a gray screen, then I get a black screen with text in several languages saying that I need to shut off and then restart the computer. I went through this drill 5 times with no indication that anything was improving. I am sure that the edge card connector is fully seated on the old HD. Any ideas as to what is happening here?

The Operating System for the old and new machine is different, you can't just swap drives like that, what you're getting is a Kernel Panic.
You need to install the OS from the install discs that came with the new machine onto that hard drive. Boot from your new install DVD (hold c at start) and do an Archive Install of the OS so it saves your user data.

  • Do movie rentals go to icloud until used, because I get messages that I need to buy more storage when it says 4.8 out 5.0 is available

Do movie rentals "wait" in cloud until being viewed? I get download errors and that I need to manage my storage when there is 4.8 out of 5.0 available.

thank you...I was downloading a rental to add to only 5 others, and I have 1 movie. I got a download error that sent me to manage my storage. When I opened that up it was the screen to add more Icloud storage. Apparently we get 5 GB....and it offered 5 more.I did not see anywhere else to buy any other storage. I did remove a bunch of apps (I have a total of 36 so I didn't think that was an enormous amount, but I removed about 7 and then was able to download the rental. I was putting on a bunch as I am heading for Europe and wasn't sure if I could download there. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. This is new to me, so when the IPAD sends me to settings and to manage storage, I'm just didn't know where else to be looking.

  • Despite renaming old Firefox folder, uninstalling and reinstalling 18.0.1,why am I still getting message that computer needs to be restarted to complete update?

I have read responses this question for version 17. I renamed the Firefox folder, uninstalled it and the maintenance program via the Control Panel, downloaded a new copy of 18.0.1 and installed it. It worked fine--until I shut down the computer for awhile. When I rebooted and tried to bring up Firefox 18, I got the message about the need to reboot the computer in order to complete an update. If I try to ignore it, the error message disappears but Firefox simply doesn't load. I also noted that the Firefox icon in the Start list and desktop had changed to what looks like an installation icon--or perhaps something more generic.

The forums say to just try and do the update again, So when the message pops up select okay or restart is the computer. But what does the error message say? There might be a bug.
    Hope this helps,
    Jeremy Eramian
