Hello fredbi, thanks for taking the time inquiring about the issue instead of just silently turning your back on us. You might spare a minute or two to go through these bits of information trying to clear up a some of the misconceptions that are flying around. Unfortunately some media outlets will rather publish sensationalized stories generating many clicks and increased revenue by ads than perform the most basic fact-checking:

If it were for Mozilla alone Brendan didn't have to leave - we would like nothing better than to rehire Brendan. In fact, we didn't want him to leave in the first place. However it was his personal decision to resign among all this ongoing frenzy, threats and mischaracterization of him as a person and the Mozilla community coming from third-parties, in order for the constant bombardment to end and to avert any further damage to Mozilla and its mission that he helped build for so many years.
So in this sad process we have lost a co-founder and brilliant technical mind and now the "other side" of the political spectrum comes along, again quite misinformed and rushing to judgement, bashing our community and voicing calls for boycotts against our products. This is quite sad & Mozilla has not deserved to be in the middle of all of this. Our community exists to protect the Web by promoting openness, innovation and opportunity and is no battleground to fight culture-wars upon...
Thank you!

  • I would like to get rid of firefox 4 and go back to the older one, how do I do this

I would like to get rid of firefox 4 its a nuisance and go back to the old one how do I do this

It's helpful to give more specific feedback if you can.
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information] (copy your whole profile folder).
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 4, and uninstall it. Do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Then finally you can reinstall Firefox 3.6. Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, it should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

How can I get rid of HP Rewards "Redeem your HP Reward!" message on my Mac?    The coloured wheel spins endlessly rendering it impossible to respond to the message.

    Hi arnienelly,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.   I gather that you are getting the HP Rewards pop-up on your computer.
Did you follow the instructions that Ciara_B gave in her post directly above yours?  If so, what was the result?
    Thank you.

  • Getting rid of Firefox update page

Does anyone know how to get rid of the "thanks for updating" page that opens on the first tab in firefox after it's been updated? We have a guest account that refreshes the home directory upon login (this is prior to the 10.6 guest account that's being offered now). I'm trying to blast out the FF update to my lab stations and the guest account keeps on opening up with the FF update page because it doesn't save state from the previous user who logged in. Is there a pref file that i can edit to get rid of that page or some other file i can edit? I definitely need to maintain all the other prefs (eg. bookmarks etc.)
    Thanks!

I guess I should have been more clear about the idiosyncrasies of our setup since it's not that easy. Our "Guest" login account is almost like a kiosk account in that it's based off of a custom default user template that has all the prefs and bookmarks etc. stored so that even though the account gets wiped out upon every login, so as to create a fresh experience for each subsequent user, the experience is always consistent. We used Mike Bombich's script from years past & as per his description: This script removes a default user home directory and replaces it with a fresh copy from a template.
Thus, I COULD edit & save the FFOX prefs so as to get rid of the FFox "Thanks for updating homepage tab" BUT that would require me to update all the user template files associated in FFOX's profile stored in ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox/* on every station in the labs.
I would much rather, on a granular lever, know exactly which file and which line of code I need to edit and, en masse, send a batch unix cmd to all the lab stations to update that particular file.
Any ideas on this? I'm sure someone knows the answer to this. Hope I've cleared up my requirements too.
    Tx!

  • Using another web browswer until you get rid of Firefox 4. What a disaster! When do you plan to fix it.!!!

What a nightmare Firefox 4 have been. I have warned everyone else not to upgrade to this horrible browser. Which is sad, since I used to recommend it to everyone. I don't like IE or Safari, but I like them better than Firefox 4 so I will be using another browser until you fix whatever it was you did to the new update. Very inconvenient to have to change all my bookmarks and info that I have used on Mozilla since it first came out. I hope you are working on it since there is page after page of similar responses. When can we expect this to be fixed?

Why do I have pop-up everywhere now, my home page changed, I have some stupid mp3 toolbar installed(which I will get rid of). What were you guys thinking?

    Hello,
You'll have to be more specific. Do you know the name of it? If not, go to your '''about:support''' page by entering it in your address bar and pressing enter, or going to:
    * Help (or [[Image: New Fx Menu]] > [[Image: Help-29]]) > Troubleshooting Information
Then click "Copy Text to Clipboard" and paste that information here.
If you don't have many extensions and don't mind going to download them and setting them up again, you can '''Reset Firefox'''. The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
'''''Note:''' After resetting Firefox, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences.'' See the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article for more information.
    To Reset Firefox:
#Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Troubleshooting Information''. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
#*If you're unable to access the Help menu, type '''about:support''' in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
#At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Reset Firefox" that looks like this: [[Image:Button reset]]. Click on it.
#Firefox will close and reset. After it is done, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
#Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.
EDIT: How did you update your Firefox? If you downloaded a new copy but didn't download from the official Mozilla website:
    * https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
    * https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
Then you will need to uninstall and reinstall Firefox by downloading a new copy from one of those two links.

  • How can I get rid of firefox, and the download everytime i go to home page

Firfox Setup Stub 32.0 exe, automatically downloads itself every time I go to the my home page. Why? I don't use firefox, I like Chrome. I have downloaded FF before, just to try to get rid of the annoying download page

Have you set the Firefox download page as the home page in Chrome? It can happen by accident. You should be able to set it back to the default in the Chrome settings. Here's how to set the home page in Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95314?hl=en
Btw, if you've stopped using Firefox a while ago, it has gotten much faster and more lightweight recently. You might want to give it another try.

  • Help! How do I get rid of firefox developer tools.

I am a computer dummy. Firefox is installed in our Windows 8 computer as our browser. Whenever we use it, a very annoying thing called Default Fire Fox Developer tools comes up at the bottom and takes up half our screen. Sometime it lets me hit esc. to close it but then it just pops back up. We use our computer for the net, e mail and social media alongside learning sites for our kids. How can I get rid of this thing? Please help me and explain it like I am 6 .

  • Get rid of Firefox for Yahoo; go back to straight Firefox

I downloaded Firefox for yahoo. I want to get rid of the Yahoo connection and just have Firefox. How? Thanks

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • I cannot browse the web because firefox will not allow it. How can I change this or get rid of firefox

When I put any word on the Google Firefox like "staples" or anything, it comes back to me that it is an
unsecure site and it will not connect me. I have been dealing with this for a week now and it only
happened when Yahoo tried to take over my google and I did a restore with firefox. I am 68 years old
and not really experienced with these computers and do not know what to do.

Actually, I don't think robots are allowed to register as contributors on this forum...
Could you describe this problem in more detail. In particular, are you getting search results from Google, but then you can't visit the links in the results, or are you not able to get any Google search results?
Does it make any difference if you start from the Google home page: https://www.google.com/ ?

Doesn't matter whether I'm in my emails or browsing the net, when I click on an option, another page pops up and it says firefox in the left hand corner and is usually about a quiz or a competition or other irrelevant topics. I have to close this each time in order to return to the work I'm doing.

  • Get rid of Firefox 27.0

Firefox 27.0 is full of bugs.. I keep restoring more computer back to 26.0 (to a known date where I konw the computer was bug free) but it still manages to download 27.0 back onto my computer even though I am doing TOOLS>OPTIONS>ADVANCED>CHECK FOR UPDATES BUT ASK ME BEFORE INSTALLING. and I still get 27.0 put back onto my system..
    Problems with 27.0
    Bookmarks dissapear
Not able to use back browser button
I'm 1000% positive it's 27.0. Everytime that orange Firefox button in the top left of my screen shows up the bookmarks dissapear and the back browser button doesn't work. I immediately check what version of firefox I have and yup it's 27.0. Very frustrating..
    Any advice..

I don't trust system restore. Try reinstalling Firefox 26 from the link in the following article (do not uninstall Firefox 27 first): [[Install an older version of Firefox]].
I just noticed you have an earlier thread here: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/986597 bookmarks do not work]. The screen shot is very interesting because it shows a regular Windows title bar and a second title bar below it.
I saw a similar problem last April and the solution was to update extensions (see [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/957256 I just updated Firefox and now it's crashing, not loading tabs or add-ons, and the UI is all messed up.]).
To update extensions, you can try the following:
Open the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions.
Then look for the "gear" button above the list, click that, and choose Check for Updates.
    Any improvement?

  • FireFox won't run and won't get out of the way;how do I get rid of FireFox?

I have used FireFox for several years and have been happy with it. Recently it quit working and claims to have forwarded to Mozilla the hang-up but it still intervenes every time I try to use the internet and announces that it has blown up and needs to send crash report to Mozilla and over and over again. I liked FireFox but I want it to get the ___out of the way if it is not going to work. It will not get out of the way.

Well if you would like, I'd love to help you fix your Firefox so you can get back online with it again :)
Open up internet explorer, go to [http://www.getfirefox.com www.getfirefox.com]. Click the big "Download Now" button, then click "Run". Let Firefox download, and follow the steps to install it. After it is finished, restart your PC, and try firing Firefox up again. Does it work?
If it doesn't, try to start Firefox in Safe Mode. Basically, just hold down the Shift key while you click on the Firefox icon, and it should start in Safe Mode. If it does, choose to disable all add-ons (we will re-enable them later) and reset all preferences (make sure you don't delete your bookmarks or personal data).
Now you should be able to start Firefox normally. You can go to your add-ons, and reenable your extensions one by one until you find what is causing the crash, and keep that one disabled.
Let me know if you still are having problems.
