Is there a way to sync the FF settings and keep them on a thumb drive for temporary use? I know you can try to copy the "default" folder in .mozilla, but that usually ends up a mess. The home computer runs on Linux, don't know what the borrowed one will be.

Firefox Sync works thru a server, either Mozilla's sync server or a local sync server the user has running on their own LAN. There's no way to sync the data to a thumb drive unless it has a version of Firefox on that thumb drive.
You didn't mention which "settings" are involved, but you can export your Firefox bookmarks in HTML format to a thumb drive, and view that bookmarks.html file on any web browser on just about any operating system.

For your other personal data in Firefox, there is no real solution outside of using Firefox.

It seems you have gone to great lengths to improve accessibility in many areas of the iPad. Why was this obvious problem with icon text size missed? (It's not with the Mac.). And for so long too.
Do you employ people with actual accessibility problems to help you do UI design?
I think too, that some buttons are too close for people who might have motor control problems.
I love my iPad but I fear as I age, the iPad might not keep up with me.

I've been reading some of the other threads about this issue, but most, if not all, suggest using iCloud. I'm wary of setting up an iCloud account because I've heard that "once your information is 'in the cloud' it can't be deleted", and I just don't know how true that is.

I think that cloud privacy concerns are overdone - especially with Apple who don't have a vested interest in snooping through your data like Google does!
Do you use email? It's stored in the cloud on the providers servers - no matter who the provider is.
Do you use SMS on a phone? They're stored on a server somewhere!
Do you use the internet? The logs are stored at your ISP for some period of time - tracking everywhere you've been.
Thats why I am comfortable to use iCloud for most of my documents. If I want to transfer files very securely, I put them in an encrypted disk image on Dropbox.

You three would do better to sync to google directly. Google has a blackberry app that will allow you to sync your contacts and calendars. The app isn't perfect, but it works reasonably well, especially if you're just using one calendar to sync.
Then there's plenty of ways to sync those to your iPad using Google, including Exchange, or simply adding it as a google account.
As for iCloud, there really isn't any supported or unsupported method to do what you're trying to do, at least at this time. If there is, it would definitely be a hack and I would be wary of risking your contact or calendar data on it..

I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Hey guys, we're making a video that will mostly be a fixed camera view but have objects animate around this view. The priority is the audio; the objects that animate will sound like they are flying around the camera's point of view (the user when they're using headphone). Since I will be animating the objects inside After Effects and already be assigning them X,Y, & Z coordinates during the animation, is there any way to take the data of the objects location through time to give to the programmers so they can assign the audio/attributes to the objects moving around in the scene? Sort of like how if I made a null object in AE, I can have it be the parent to another layer(s), I need to find a way to make this same concept work but for audio and other assigned attributes. It seems it would save us a lot of time if this is possible instead of figuring out where the sound is coming from later on by scratch and guessing. If there are other programs that can do this please let me know, I do use Maya and other 3D apps. Thanks!

Can you give more details as to your end result and starting point? You mentioned you use other 3D programs. Maya used to have in Maya 4.0 a way to dynamically animate according to audio. Other 3D programs still offer this functionality through their scripting and/or interface.
Flash Pro has 3D layers and if your animations are short enough you might be able to do the project in Flash and access the SoundChannel aspects of ActionScript 3.0 . AE uses a version of Javascript. There might be a way in the AE Scripting reference to read objects within the file and a method in the scripting to export these objects. I'm only guessing since I don't know how to script in AE but I see no one has replied to this thread and I was curious myself.

Is there a way to fade video to black and keep audio going?

I'm using iMovie 09. What I'm attempting to do is have a long fade to black transition at the end of the project that will obscure the last couple of seconds of video, yet keep the audio going during the fade till it ends.
To put it another way, I'm trying to ditch the last 2 or 3 seconds of picture, yet still keep the music that is going on underneath it.

Sorry, Karsten, I'm having trouble explaining this clearly. Here's what I'm attempting to do: I want to make a short example clip from a silent film to upload. Below is a link showing how this clip ends.
The thing I want the viewer to see last is the boy and girl sitting on the bank, not the litter of pigs.
However, I don't want to chop the music off to get rid of the pigs. So is there a way to fade the video to dark around :11 or so, and then have the music finish up in the dark a few seconds later?
In other words, how do I get rid of the pigs without chopping the end of the music off?

Is it possible to disable the Facetime camera and use an external webcam as a default? So that when you access browser based applications that require a webcam it doesnt default to the Facetime camera but uses the USB webcam instead?

(1) You don't need to "disable" anything to select among cameras connected to your Mac.
For all cameras you access via browser based applications (cameras connect via Flash browser plugins), control-click on an open video window in your browser page and adjust the camera settings to select between a connected USB and Firewire video camera. Specific instructions are here:

If you don't see a choices of cameras in the Flash settings, your Mac is only recognizing one camera. Verify that your external cam is Mac-compatible and properly connected.
Your choice is stored in preferences so the same camera will activate on the next browser page until you change it.

I have tried using the set in system of trying to update an app and being prompted to agree, but every single time Apple's gay system keeps telling me that my session has timed out and I should try again. I have tried multiple times to have it sent by email, but every one of those show up as "there was an error and email failed. Please try again.". I signed in on the website and was prompted to agree to the terms and I did, but Apple still will not let me dowload/update apps. Is there any way to get to a part of a website that lets you agree to the terms? If not, is there any fool-proof way that I can do it or a solution to the session timing out issue?

I can share the Mail.app rules and signatures via .Mac/iSync, but when I modify the dictionary that is used to spell-check the mail text, I have to do these modifications on all computers individually. It should be fairly simple to allow syncing of the dictionary that is used by Mail.app among the Macs via .Mac.
The system does not offer this feature, but is there a tool out there which does this job?

If I have iMovie 10.0.1on Mavericks, can I also install imovie11 and keep them separate? this is for all new stuff, no backward compatible issues.

got the biggest imac I could get. imovie 10.0.1 has no audio tools. I need something and FCP is not out yet. So, Can I install imovie11 and run it (not concurrently) on the same mavericks machine without creating havoc?

Don't think so. Those algorithms are built around the RGB color model as far as I know and there is no way to achieve the same result in other color modes. It may not be programmaticalyl and matehmatically impossible, but it's probably too complicated for a quick solution due to constant color space conversion math getting involved.
