    Hi vanessato,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend these troubleshooting steps if your iPhone does not turn on.

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

With that particular variety of 1606 (it's a 1606 error message even though the 1606 error message number isn't returned by the iTunes installer), the following Microsoft document is worth a try:

  • My daughter bought an 4th generation ipod classic without a charger.  We are using the charger from an ipod touch and it won't charge.  Someone posted online that not all chargers will work on the classic.  Anyone else have this issue and any suggestions?

My daughter bought a 4th generation ipod classic without a charger.  The ipod was working just fine, but then we tried to charge it using a brand new charger for an Ipod Touch.  It won't charge and someone online someone posted that there ipod touch charger worked on the ipad, phone and whatever else he had but it wouldn't work on the classic.  Anyone else have this same issue?  Any solutions?

The ipod did not come with a power cord as we purchased it used from ebay.  The ipod was half charged when we received it and it worked well enough to transfer songs to my computer (the previous seller didn't delete their 2000 plus songs).  My son then used the same cord on his computer to transfer the songs, but processed an update to the ipod and after that,it wouldn't work.  So, I'm not sure if we received a bum ipod, an update issue or we have a charger issue, but the cord we used to transfer the songs came from my son's brand new ipod touch.  We've also tried 2 other chargers from ipods we have in the house, 1 being a wall charger.
One individual posted online that he took his ipod classic, mac and phone overseas with one charger and it worked fine on all but the classic.  So, I'm thinking that they cords may not be universal.  Online I've read that it must be a 6 pin firewire, high power 2.0 usb cord.  Or that I need to purchase an applie charger.  We don't live close to an apple store and I'm reluctant to order one just to have it NOT work.
My daughter is learning the hard way that buying off of ebay is not always the best solution to a cash strapped 12 year old.
Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

  • My 1st generation Ipod touch pauses music randomly. I've been through many headphones to see if that was the problem, but it still happens.

my ipod touch 1st gen. pauses music at random. I thought it was the headphones, so i've been through about three pairs, but it contines to happen. HELP

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod

  • Last night I was installing the iOS 6 update on my ipod. I noticed it was taking way too long so I hit the home button and the ON/OFF button in ordered to restart it. After it restarted, the screen went blank and has been like that since.

    Someone please help me!

Plug it into iTunes and hold the power and home buttons down for about 10 seconds, then release the power button but continue to hold the home button. That should put it in DFU mode. iTunes should recognize that and ask if you want to restore.

    iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

  • 1st Generation iPod Touch Problems: First freezes, then no music

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else have had this problem.
My first generation iPod touch's screen stops working, but is responsive and the button and works, but since I need to slide it, I wasn't able to use it. When I plugged in my headphones, it fritzes. So I restored it to factory settings and everything is fine until I try to play music. I would click on any song, even the shuffle button, it would show that it would play, but suddenly stops and goes back to the song menu. I tried restoring a few times, but it still won't work. On top of that, when I leave it alone for a minute, it dies unexpectedly. It's been 2 and a half years since I got it. Anyone?

I have the exact same situation! My friend and I both have first generation iPod touches. My friends is 3 years old, however my iPod touch is only 1 year old because I got a new one because my last broke, still 1g. My friend was caught in the rain and got very wet once, and since then his iPod touch wifi hasn't worked. My iPod touch on the other hand has been very well looked after in a switch easy case.
My wifi used to work perfectly, until around september of last year my wifi stopped working. It searches for half a second, like it usually does when it knows there aren't anywhere networks near, and if I am really close to a router it will have 1 bar, but say unable to connect and always ask for password.
However today I had a breakthrough, even tho I haven't used my iPod in a while, I tried searching for wifi today and it worked perfectly, like brand new, I was really excited, I could even get full signal at the bus stop outside my house. 4 hours later, and it was back to square one, exactly the same symptoms as before. iPad and laptop are perfect as usual, my iPod has never been wet and I take great care of it. I don't think iOS has a big difference, as my friend is running like 1.? And I'm running 3.1.? The latest software. I've resetted many times, but no success. I'm going to call apple but please help incase they don't know.

  • I have just bought a 1st generation Ipod touch, can I use my Ipod shuffle accessories for this or do I need to buy ipod touch accessories?

Can you use the same accessories from ipod shuffle to ipod touch?

The headphones will work with the iPod Touch.  For charging and syncing yo will have to purchase a cable for the iPod Touch since one end of the cable has to have a 30-pin dock connector.  The Shuffle uses a different connecotr.

  • 1st generation ipod won't download music

My firend just bought a 1st generation ipod and was only able to download a couple songs. He asked me if I could try and download some of my music on it cause I have a 20GB ipod of my own that works perfectly fine. But when I plug it in it just sits there and wont respond while I watch the little spinning circle so then I cant use my mouse. I already had to shutdown my computer to get my itunes to start working again. I dont know what to do with it...help!

This is the 1st gen iPod shuffle, that looks like a white USB flash drive, with a built-in USB plug?  FYI - This document shows the four shuffle models
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1719
If it's a 1st (or 2nd) gen shuffle, select it in iTunes.  Toward the top of the iTunes window, there are two buttons that say Settings AND On This iPod.  The Settings screen is probably what you already used, "to set certain options."  Click on On This iPod.  This screen shows a list of songs that are currently on the shuffle, and you can use this screen to remove songs from the shuffle (and change song order), once you have songs on it.
At the bottom of this screen, there are Autofill controls.  That is one way to load the shuffle.  You can "automatically fill" the shuffle from your iTunes music library, or from a playlist.
To add individual songs, drag songs from your iTunes library and drop them on the shuffle.  The easiest way to do this is to use the iTunes sidebar (along left side of iTunes window).  If the sidebar is hidden, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  Find the shuffle in the sidebar, under the heading DEVICES.  From your iTunes library, drag songs (or other audio items) and drop them on the shuffle.
