I'm having a hardware issue that has defied all attempts to explain.
About the time when someone found that a certain file reference, when entered in the search field of most apple apps would cause a crash, I started having a problem with my early 2009 iMac. And yes, I foolishly tried this and got this thing stuck in my iMac for some weeks until the 10.8.4 update came out and seemed to fix it. But I only mention this to show when my other issues started. I don't believe there is any other connection.
What started happening is first, my mail app started crashing. The fix for this is discussed elsewhere. This fix always worked but the issue would come right back a few days later. Then I started having finder and quicklook crashes. I'd quickview a multimedia file and the finder would crash and restart. If I opened any media in quicktime, that would crash as well. At first, a remove and reinstall of Perian and Flip4Mac would temporarily fix this. but soon this didn't work anymore.
After several complete Erase and ReInstalls of the OS, I found that within days of doing this all would start again. I took the iMac to the Apple Store but they could find nothing wrong. I let them do an Erase and ReInstall themselves but just as before, three days would go by and the crashes would be back.
Now I started experimenting. I installed the original OS the iMac came with, Leopard. No problems showed themselves. Then I erased and installed Snow Leopard. Again, nothing crashed. Like with Leopard before I left it for at least a full week. Then Lion was tried. I left that on for four days. I never really liked Lion. I finally put Mountain Lion back, using the installer I had first downloaded when Mountain Lion first came out. So it was an install of OS X 10.8.0.
It took a week and a half, but the crashing returned. I erased and installed Snow Leopard again and it's remained working from then on. I have all my original files from the time before all started going bad. But whatever the cause is, it's not anything in those files.
I'm still thinking my problem comes from some hardware that only Mountain Lion stresses enough to cause the crashing. And it didn't show up in Apple's Diagnostic Testing. My iMac is in the group of hardware that was supposed to be capable of running Mountain Lion. I have two other computers that both are running Mountain Lion. One is a 2008 Macbook and the other is a Late 2009 Mac Mini. And the iMac was good until near the end of the 10.8.3 period.
That's the story up to now. If anyone has any ideas on what could be causing the problem I'd like to here it.

- Looked at the dock connector on the iPod. look for abnormalities like bent or corrode contacts, foreign material and crack or broken plastic.

I've had my iphone 5s since Oct. Since I've had it, it will go through these periods where the data just slows to a crawl. So slow that I can't even access the App store until I get back around wi-fi. And this is in areas that I am recieving full signal and it's indicating that I have access to 4G. My wife has the same company, but has an iphone 5 and has not been having this problem. I called the phone comany and they advised me that it's likely a hardware issue. Has anyone had a similar problem with the 5s? If so, what can I do?
As silly as it may seem, I have had success simply turning my phone completely off and then back on again. I was using an iPhone 5 on Sprint and would run into this issue a couple of times a month. I would see the data indicator on my phone switching from 3G to 1x and back again several times over a few minutes while just sitting still. This would happen regardless of whether or not I had a full strength signal or not. (Remeber that if your signal strength is below 2 bars,dots,etc, you will not get great data speeds).
Try rebooting the phone. If this does not help, pay close attention to the signal strength meter at the top of the phone. If you and your wife are on the same carrier and it turns out you get different signal strengths while standing in the same location, you may have a problem with your phones antenna.
If these suggestions do not help, post back to the discussion. -

Your profile shows you have a 4S with 7.0.6. That is the most current update. Do you also have a 4 that you haven't updated? If so, you should update it too.

I want to deauthorise a computer from my account that has had all of its settings wiped already. I go to deauthorise but I am being told I have already deaithorised 5 devices this last 12 months so cannot do again until the 23rd June. His is very frustrating as I have just bought a new laptop and I can't use any of my music on it and my old laptop is dead but I can't deauthorise it. Any tips would be great. Have rung apple and they told me I had to wait. Doesn't seem fir when I only have 2 other devices working at the moment.

Hey, I'm having a hardware issue with my Ipod Charger.
Hello Apple community! I am having a issue with charging my 3rd Gen 64GB I Touch. I used to get an error where it wouldn't allow me to charge due to the accessory not being compatible to the i Touch (I used 3 different Apple Charger, Apple brand,etc) Now I can't charge it at all, its basically a broken Ipod. Im furious about this because I don't have a warranty despite this being a hardware issue. I went to look at Apple support but it said I had to pay $30 to call/email. I think thats ridiculous! I have an issue with my device and I should be able to call for FREE. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could get this expensive device fixed? I have no APPLE Store near me to go to.

Is the iPad and iPhone affected by this malware virus that has infected all these Macs?
I am wondering if this malware that has infected so many Macs has also made iPad and iPhone vulnerable? Could my iPad be infected and how do I check to see if it is or how do you fix this?
I'm not going to post links just so you can have fun mocking. You're a big boy, go read. Something anyone knew had to happen eventually, hackers have gotten tired of zipping into PC's and are turning their attention to Macs. Give it a few years and they'll find a way too poke a hole into Android and iOS and Linux....bored folks with nothing better to do.
Any 'panic' is to be expected especially since Mac has always been very superior in it's 'don't get viruses/less vulnerable to viruses' stuff. Well, that's not because they were never vulnerable, just because hackers have always focused on the larger target base, PC's. But now that Mac market shares are growing, they're a bigger target. Just as tablets will become a bigger target as more and more are put into use.
There will eventually be an iPad virus. May take a few years, but someone will do it if for no other reason than to brag that they did. -

yes it should be covered using 1 year warranty. You cant get refund unless you have some customer protection program. So call applecare, I dont know the number in the UK.

hello there, i don't have windows operating system on my computer, i have a system called ubuntu,so there for i can't download itunes. i have a music app,called banshee on my computer,and have been using it successfully.i managed to put my music from my computer to my ipod but al of a sudden it's not working and iv'e lost all my music.also my ipod seems to keep resetting its self because the apple logo keeps showing i'm afraid i'm not very good with tecnology i remember going to my ipod on a disc management app and pressing benchmark not to sure what i did i think i nrrd to reinstall yhe softwear on my ipod but the apple home page keeps telling me to download the lates itunes,but as i have stated this is not possible.can anyone please help me?.ps out of intress i have another iopod the same model can i transfer the settings from one to the other.regards mr france

Several Lumia 820 Hardware Issues

I bought my Lumia 820 3 weeks ago. I've come across a number of hardware issues that i noticed in those three weeks. First, i found the batteries very difficult to remove. I damaged both the battery and the recessed part for the fingers just to insert the micro SIM And microSD. Next, I noticed that the camera bezel (black oval around the camera) was uneven on the side with the Carl Zeiss label. Finally, I noticed that the screen was raised slightly higher in the bottom right corner (near the search button) and that there are dust particles under the screen. Has anyone had any or all of these issues? If so, were you able to sort it out with Nokia Care? Your input would be appreciated.

I found that the nearest Nokia Care from my place is 11 hours away, so I couldn't find the time to drop by. But having watched a good number of video reviews for the 820, it might be a common issue. I opted to just let go of the issues since they don't really affect the overall performance of the camera or the phone. I think Nokia would replace them, maybe even under warranty since this could count as a defect.I've seen the the camera body part on sale online so you can estimate how much it will cost if you decide to replace yours (google: lumia 820 camera deco - around 18-20 USD) -
Having some Captivate issues...
I have having a couple issues that were not fixed with the
1.01 update.
1) After I publish a movie, Captivate will sometimes close,
without saving anything at all. The movie is fully published,
however the software basically crashes after it has been published.
(This doesn't happen everytime, but maybe once out of ever 10
movies)
2) When the software is started, the loading screen does not
always display, I sometimes have to minimize all windows, and then
click on the loading screen in order for Captivate to have its own
tab on the taskbar. The loading image will appear when I minimize
all windows, and when I click on the loading image, it will then
create the Macromedia Captivate tab that appears on the taskbar.
3) Captivate cannot handle multiple movies open at the same
time. I noticed that when I publish with more than one Captivate
movie open, the software crashes. By crash, I mean the program
closes the entire movie without saving any changes at all.
I'm running a fully updated XP w/ SP2. I've disabled all
startup processes that are not needed, as well as tried with Norton
turned off- it still didn't work.quote:

developers left out a notice that didn't allow you to open multiple

I've done about 3 before Captivate starts to act funny. It
has enough trouble with 2. I think I got up to 8 before Captivate
crashed.

I'm having lots of issues with Dreamweaver CC on my 2nd monitor.
I cannot open new files, or create new files... the pane doesn't display. Works fine on my Macbook Pro Display, but not on the 2nd monitor using Thunderbolt. I also have lots of odd behaviors when attempting to edit code. The selection jumps all around... I tried uninstalling and reinstalling fresh, but still having the same issue. Has anyone else been experiencing this?
According to Adobe staff, a problem was introduced in Yosemite that is causing funkiness with secondary monitors is what I meant.
It seems related, not that it's the same exact issue.
Personally, I'd roll back to an older version of DW if that second monitor was necessary to my workflow within the program until Adobe or Apple push a patch.

Good morning, I'm joining this forum today to hopefully get some answers in regards to the following hardware issues I have with my laptop. I own an HP Pavilion dv9000, and on 9/17/2011, both my Wifi and the CD-Rom stopped working, literally overnight. Yesterday I took the system to one of the IT Staff members at work and he stated that their may be a hardware issue. He stated that the Wifi adapter is not found within Device Manager even though it's enable within the BIOS; and with the CD-Rom, he said that he cannot Boot a CD from the drive, which led him to research any known issues with the hardware. My laptop is still prestine condition, never dropped and barely moved from my desk; it's pretty much still new looking. I'd like to see about having this issue fixed, but my system is no longer under warranty, in fact, it's just outside of OfficeMax's extending warranty that I purchased with the laptop.
Any assistance with this matter is greatly appreciated.

Does an adobe reader read the Adobe acrobat document that has been downloaded from a web site
I am having trouble opening anything that has been downloaded into a adobe acrobat document . I am wondering if I am suppose to have an Adobe reader to read it and why is it not being read because it is not a supported file type or because the file was damaged sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded. I am not very computer illiterate and don't understand what I need to be able to get a embroidery designed sent to my computer and be able to open it up.?

PDF is the document standard that you are trying to read. If you have Acrobat installed then you can open the pdf with Acrobat to read it.
What error do you get when you try to open the document?

Since updating to ios6, the page with the newly released apps is gone, and replaced with something that has them all mixed together. Is there any way to search for apps released each day? I don't like the new setup, where it is categorized and you have to go through everything listed.

800 clips extracted from these obviously on the timeline and joined/compounded according to their content in say 15 layers according to 15 instruments used ,so now just to see the entire usable footage ....
now one 7 minute song sequence has to be made where bits would be simultaneously taken from these 15 layers as all instruments are playing simultaneously
these shots are not more than 2 secs each according to the beat........
when I try to work with these 15 layers as well as the Final primary layer that I'm making in the same timeline my fcpx becomes slow
but when I drag individual layer to individual timelines it is fine so that is the only option
but now for every 2 second bit I have to go back to the 15 layered timeline and find one single suitable shot
So I was wondering is there a way to be able to see these layers and clips on the timeline in the browser in a systematic fashion like the way we get with keywords ?
and keywords can only be used in the imported clips already in the browser ,and not after we drag it on the timeline.....
Till now I think exporting and importing back is the only option ...but is there another work around ? -
Can I exchange for a new laptop? Since December it has been having hardware issues and it has already needed to get parts changed twice already. My laptop is not working properly again. I feel like I have unfortunately gotten a lemon laptop.
Apple will repair or replace at its discretions, parts found to be defective in materials or workmanship.
You will have to discuss whether your history warrants a complete replacement with the folks at the Genius Bar.
I do not speak for Apple, but it sounds to me like you have been unlucky, but not unlucky enough (or have spent so much time with your MacBook in the shop) to warrant a complete replacement.
You have not provided any details of what the faults were or what was replaced. If they replaced the motherboard, you already got a new computer -- because everything except the drive and the display is on that board.
