I'm having lots of problems with my Macbook, don't know where to start.

I've got an Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook, about 4-5 years old, running 10.5.8. It's set up with two logins, one each for my wife and I. We're having problems with several things:
Every time I open a PDF, Acrobat asks for my administrator password and reinstalls itself.
We use OpenOffice - but every time we quit the application, it opens right up again and recovers the last doc we were working on.
We use two airport express routers - one to create the wireless network and run the printer, one to stream music to the stereo, mostly via Airfoil. It seems overly complex, but the cable comes in one end of the house through the basement, and the stereo is at the other end of the house upstairs, and it worked fine until last week. We've lost contact with the stereo AX, and even plugged in with an ethernet cable I can't set it up - I can go through the menus, and when I try to finalize everything it just sits there blinking amber and eventually I lose the connection with the AX in the basement too - but I get it back upon restarting the computer.
My wife is having problems with copying and pasting in Firefox/Yahoo mail using her login, but I can't duplicate them in mine.
Firefox forgets things in my login that it remembers in hers - like it won't ever open to my homepage, always the "thanks for updating" page. I've googled that and found a few references to the problem, and tips for fixing it (deleting a few files), but they haven't worked for me.
We have intermittent problems with permissions - occasionally I can't write to a folder I created.
In the past I've been able to download HD video direct (without converting) from my Panasonic Lumix LX-5 camera through iMovie, but last time I tried the files were greyed out and unavailable.
A few months back everything froze and it wouldn't start up. A friend, who is a Mac IT guy, had a look at it and reinstalled the system, and it's worked ok since, with the exceptions noted above. We do back up regularly with Time Machine, and for most of the time I've had the macbook I used Saphos antivirus, until I read it could cause problems with Time Machine, at which point I uninstalled it.
I'm not a computer guy, I just want to have a reliable machine I can use every day without having to sit down and reconfigure some settings to get it to work. I have no idea whether these problems are related, or totally random, or a result of something I did. I half want to just forget it and replace the laptop and the one AX I can't get to work, but if it's a relatively simple fix, I'd realy prefer not to spend the money right now.
Any recomendations would be appreciated, and feel free to ask for further information - hopefully I'll be able to provide it!
Andrew

Just curious. Have you opened disk utilities application in the utility folder and select your drive, and run repair permissions. This may or may not help. It also may take awhile if it has never been done. Good luck!

• Multiple problems with 80GB classic, don't know where to start.

Hey guys,
I got an Apple classic 80GB for my bday early August and lately i've been having so many problems i dont know where to start, i'll try to explain them as best as i can.
*problem 1:* Whenever i plug my iPod into my PC, it locks up the system for about 5 minutes, then comes up with an error box saying that 'There is a problem with your iPod yadda yadda restore etc'.
I proceed to restore the iPod, then once its restored and reconnects itself, it repeats the cycle by freezing then telling me to restore. The only way i can do a restore and have it not give me an error is if i reboot when it is disconnected.
*Problem 2:* When i finally get it up and ready to sync, i go to sync all my files (About 2000 songs). It gets to around the 1500 song mark then says there is an error and the iPod disconnects itself.
It then instantaneously reconnects itself and starts syncing from where it left off.
Once it has then sync'd all of the music ad tells me its ready to be ejected. I eject the iPod and disconnected it.
I then go into the iPod and it has no songs/videos/photos, yet it has still used up about 15gb. If i reconnect it, it will just sit there for 5 minutes not syncing, it will then randomly say the sync is done and it will eject itself.
FINALLY after all that i have my music on there
*Problem 3* Once the songs are on the iPod, it becomes insanely laggy. If i navigate to a song and press play, it will take about 10 seconds for the actual song to play. The delay is just as bad for next song, pause etc. Even using it in my cars head unit causes it to lag.
*Problem 4* If i do get a song playing after all that, about 1/5 songs will just randomly skip to the next song without letting it play through.
I have all the latest iTunes/Firmware/Drivers for everything on my PC and iPod.
I have sent it back to Apple for repair yet they could not find anything wrong (Yeah right :|)
If anyone out there could help me please, im at my wits end with this infernal machine.
Thankyou

*Outdated operating system:* Cant be, im running XP SP3 with the latest updates
*Computer needs updates:* I've got the latest drivers for all of my hardware, including BIOS
*Software interference:* THe only other program i have running in the background is Kaspersky Antivirus, but that is disabled when i try to sync
*Damaged Files* Possibly, i played through the album where it froze at and even reo-imported it, it seemed to play and import fine
*Unregistered .dll files (Windows):* Tried this fix, but it did the same problems as the original post. Such as freezing on a certain song, then reconnecting itself only to put the music on there, yet it is really laggy
*Damaged disk structure:* Tried this fix, didn't help
*Corrupt iPod photo Cache* I have never tried to put photos on it, so i dont see how this could be it.
*Lost connection:* Checked it, it's very firm and unlikely to come loose.
*Conflict with third-party hardware:* I dont have any connected, nor have i ever
*Bad hardware:* I tried it on all of my 8 USB drives. I dont use any hubs or firewire cards so this couldn't be it.
Also i forgot to add that 1/5 times i go to restore, it locks the computer up and windows gives me a 'delayed write failed' bubble

I need advise and help with this problem .
First , I have been with Mac for many years ( 14 to be exact ) I do have some knowledge and understanding of Apple product .
At the present time I'm having lots of problems with the router so I was looking in to some info , and come across one web site regarding : port forwarding , IP addresses .
In my frustration , amongst lots of open web pages tutorials and other useless information , I come across innocent looking link and software to installed called Genieo , which suppose to help with any router .
Software ask for permission to install , and about 30 % in , my instinct was telling me , there is something not right . I stop installation . Delete everything , look for any
trace in Spotlight , Library . Nothing could be find .
Now , every time I open Safari , Firefox or Chrome , it will open in my home page , but when I start looking for something in steed of Google page , there is
''search.genieo.com'' page acting like a Google . I try again to get raid of this but I can not find solution .
With more research , again using genieo.com search eng. there is lots of articles and warnings . From that I learn do not use uninstall software , because doing this will install more things where it come from.
I do have AppleCare support but its to late to phone them , so maybe there some people with knowledge , how to get this of my computer
Any help is welcome , English is my learned language , you may notice this , so I'm not that quick with the respond

Genieo definitely doesn't help with your router. It's just adware, and has no benefit to you at all. They scammed you so that they could display their ads on your computer.
To remove it, see:
http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-genieo/
Do not use the Genieo uninstaller!

iTunes is a mess! It couldn't find it's own libraries and I was forced to create a new one. Now I don't know where my music is or if any's missing.

How crap is that?
It's not crap at all.
It's not that simple. For example, I've 3500 songs on my MacBook but don't want them all on my phone, so I have to manually select each song again???
There has to be a solution.
Why not simply make a playlist with the songs you want on the iPhone?
and maintain a current backup of your computer.

• Lots of problems with my Macbook

Hey
I have been having a lot of issues with my macbook recently, and I have a feeling that they are all related. And any help to resolve them would be much appreciated!
The first problem I've been having is the start up. My macbook takes about 15 minutes to start up, where it is just stuck on the white screen with an Apple logo. I have absolutely no applications set to run at start up, so that isn't the problem.
My next problem is the macbook freezing. Every time I open a new application, or even open a new tab in Google Chrome, my macbook freezes for a minute or so, and I get the spinning beach ball. At which point, I can't click anything, not even able to force quit the application that has caused it to freeze. Like i said, it does it with any application, so it's not a specific application thats causing it.
Another problem is the macbook running very slow in general. If I am lucky in opening a new application, and the macbook doesn't freeze, then it does still tend to go incredibly slow, and open the application much slower than it should.
These problems just came a long randomly, and wasn't due to me installing any new applications or anything. Also, I have checked my CPU and there is nothing there which is using up a lot of CPU or anything, My hard-drive is also not the problem, as I have a 250gb hard drive, and am using only about 180gb of it. My RAM is 4gb, so it shouldn't be bad at all. I am running OSX Lion, but don't have an install CD as i downloaded it off the macbook Apple Store.
The solutions that I have already tried for these are resetting PRAM and resetting SMC, but no difference. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank You!

Open Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor
What processes are sucking the life out of your computer?
Click on "CPU" at the bottom of the window
What is your % Idle?
Click on "System Memory"
How much free memory do you have?

• Lots of problems with newer MacBook Pro

I bought my first Mac about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately I've had lots of problems with it. I need to get it repaired, but I'm not sure what's wrong. I live in Thailand so I want to have some idea of what's going on before taking it to a shop (so they don't try to price gouge me).
The first problem happened about 9 months after i bought it. The computer would become incredibly slow. Sometimes it would take 15 minutes to boot up and sometimes it wouldn't boot up at all. But sometimes it was fine. If it did boot up, sometimes when I'd go into a folder in Finder, nothing would show up. The spinning loader graphic would just spin at the bottom of the Finder window. I ran a disk check and it said it found multiple errors that could not be fixed. I erased the hard drive and reinstalled Lion and everything seemed fine. Since I live in Thailand and I need my computer for work, I didn't want to ship it off to Apple to be fixed. It seemed fine after formatting the hard drive, so I figured it was fixed.
About 3 months later the problem came back, but much worse. I couldn't boot up or anything. I took it to a small Mac repair shop because at this point the 1 year warranty had expired. Of course inside the shop it booted up fine and I had to explain to the guy that for 5 days I haven't even been able to turn it on. Finally after restarting 4 times it began slowing down and he could see what I was experiencing. He said he could try replacing the hard drive, but couldn't guarantee it would fix it. I needed my computer badly at this point so I said let's try. I came back a couple days later and he had transferred everything to the new hard drive and installed it. Everything seemed to be working fine.
That worked, although sometimes (rarely) something weird would happen, like the computer would just shut down for no reason. But, the DVD drive stopped working. It loads a disc OK, but it can't read it and won't burn a DVD. One time it wouldn't eject my DVD for about 30 minutes. I was trying everything I could find on Google. Finally it spit it out.
Now, about 6 months later, I was watching a movie and about 10 small colored boxes popped up on the screen. They went away after a few seconds, so I closed my movie and went to shut down my computer. The entire screen then filled with horizontal rainbow colored static. It stayed for about 30 seconds, then the screen turned grey. I could hear and feel the fans blowing at full speed.
And then for about a full day it went away, until earlier today. As I was backing up all my files I played a quick part of a movie. The same squares popped up on the screen so I immediately closed the movie and they went away.
I finished backing up and then erased the hard disk. I started installing Mountain Lion, and it stopped at about 75%. I canceled the installer and restarted. After a few seconds the screen turned solid blue with white staticky lines. And now that happens every time I turn on the computer after about 30 seconds. There's no operating system because before I can even get to the installer before the screen goes.
Sorry for the huge amount of info. I just don't have enough experience with Macs to know what's going on. My current issue resembles a video card problem, the issues before resemble a hard drive and DVD drive issue. Replacing the hard drive fixed it temporarily. Could a problem with the logic board cause all of these issues?
Thanks for any help with this.

A few things to note...
If you had contacted Apple about each of the issues that you reported here, they would have kept a log of the problems that would help them determine whether to continue support after the warranty expires.
You might consider asking about "Flat Rate Repair Pricing." See the discussion thread here and note that some users report that the flat rate repair pricing is only available in the U.S. and Japan.

(typically they just ship your computer to Singapore instead of working on it "in-house" from what I read).
Actually, I had great experiences with two different macs sent to the repair depot. One computer had narcolepsy on day one. Apple sent me a box, I packed up the PB and dropped it off at UPS. Apple fixed and returned to my house two days later. The second MBP had a known video card problem. I took it to an Apple Store Genius who ran a specifc test and deduct that it was the known defective video card. The store was out of parts and ordering would take a week. Knowing my past experience with the Repair Depot, I ask for that option. The genius took my MBP and shipped it to the depot that night. Three days later, I received the fixed MBP and on the work order, their tests showed failed fans that they also replaced. Three or four weeks later, the Apple Store called to tell me they got the video card in stock.
Gather up your grit, perseverance, and persistence before contacting Apple. Try bypassing phone support by contacting them via their online support system with the link I provided in the previous post. (I remember using the online support system and was able to choose to have them call me. At the time, I had AppleCare so i'm not certain with out-of-warranty.) Another option is to seek an authorized Apple service provider.
Good Luck!

• Having hard drive problems with 2011 macbook pro

Hey all,
I am having some hard drive issues with a 2011 Macbook Pro running OS X Mavericks.
How it happened: I was browsing the web when suddenly I got the spinny-wheel-of-death. The spinny wheel of death stuck around for much longer than usual, and eventually my computer wouldn't even respond to mouse input (the mouse wouldn't move). Nothing worked, so I did a hard reset of my computer. When I rebooted the machine, it took me into "Recovery Disk Mode".
Here are the diagnostics that I've done: In "Recovery Disk Mode", I have the option to use the Disk Utility, which I have done. My main volume, called "Macintosh HD" is grayed out - and not mountable. When I run "first aid" on it, it is not able to verify the disk because of an "Invalid B-tree node size". It then tells me to repair the disk. I have tried repairing the disk, but it fails - and that is not entirely unexpected because all of the forum posts that I have read up until now say that Disk Utility cannot repair this specific type of error.
3rd party software I have tried: Based on the forum posts that I have read, Disk Warrior is especially capable at fixing this kind of error, so I went to my local computer shop, purchased the software, and booted into it. Disk Warrior did not recognize my drive, and did not even show it in the list of available options.
Other things I have tried: I purchased a Seagate external drive, and I tried to use Disk Utility to copy the contents from my MBP's hard drive over to the external drive, but when I do so, "Disk Utility" tells me that "Recovery partition restores can only be done on GPT partition maps." I have also had it give me another error message where it says it "cannot verify source - error 254".
Additionally, I have seen around the internet that many people try using "fsck" to fix this issue, but I haven't been able to find a good explanation of the proper steps when using "fsck", nor how to specify to the "fsck" program that I want it to fix my "Macintosh HD" volume. I've opened up the terminal, and gone into the "/dev/" folder, but I don't know which item in that folder, or any other folder, would properly lead down the path to my "Macintosh HD" volume. Also, the man pages seem to be of little help here.
One option I would like to try, but I have not been able to, is to try putting my MBP into Target Disk Mode, and see if my desktop machine (a Dell) can see it. The problem here is that my Dell only has USB ports - no Firewire, and obviously no Thunderbolt ports. I would need to find a way to plug my MBP into my Dell while it is in Target Disk Mode, but from what I can tell, that's impossible if I don't have a Firewire or Thunderbolt port on my Dell.
So, now having explained everything I have tried, can y'all give me any advice on how I can recover my drive without completely repartitioning it? Although most of my important data and files are located on cloud services, there are definitely some files on the drive that I don't have backed up, and I would like to recover the drive without losing those files. What suggestions can you give me? Thanks!

Yes, BUT...
... there are many problems that are really easy to eliminate by replacing the Hard drive, including ones that have nothing to do with actual Drive Hardware failure. These include corrupted install of Mac OS X, its EFI partition, clobbered partition tables, or the appearance of Bad Blocks in a critical area.
Any of these problems can sometimes be eliminated by re-initializing the entire drive and writing Zeroes, and re-installing from scratch. The trouble is, this process takes hours to complete, and is not guaranteed to be successful -- you may still need a new drive after all that effort.
I learned from my Plumber that consumers have no appetite for solutions that might work, and detest return visits for any related problems whatsoever. You or your friend may have had your drive replaced, not because it actually failed, but because the situation was troublesome, and the provider thought you would not tolerate anything less than a crisp, complete fix on the first attempt. And based on the cost of technician time, it may have even been cheaper that way.

• Hi,I am unsure if I have a safari or modem problem. It only happens when I use my macbook pro, my HP windows is fine. Internet crashes on modem and then a message that safari is not connected. I don't know where to start sorry I am not technical at all.

Hi there, my internet is crashing everytime I use my macbook pro/safari it happens roughly every 2 mins, it can happen on any website.
I am not technical at all and I am at a total loss of where to start with this. I did a bit of research on the internet but no luck in finding any
help.
Basically I am not sure if it is a modem of safari problem. I have no problems when using my HP on without windows explorer on the internet.
I am working wireless ADSL 2 - Bigpond - 2 Wire 2701 HGV-W and a macbook pro purchased around 5 months ago. Since the purchase date
I have had problems with internet.
Safari brings up a page you are not connected to the internet. I then look at the modem and DSL and internet lights are both flickering and or/off.
They then re-set themselves. I then have to re-set preferences on safari and quit and restart.
I have also tried using with cable into mac and modem and no difference.
I can only figure that maybe Safari is not compatible with the modem? could this be the case?
Thanks for reading and any assistance would be appreciated.

There's an Apple help page on the DNS problem - at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3408
The first thing to try is changing your DNS settings - and for that you need to open System Preferences, then the
Network section.
In Network - click on Advanced - then the DNS tab
under DNS servers - use the + button to enter two extra lines
either these, from google dns
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
or from OpenDNS
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
then click OK & then 'Apply'
You would need to do that seperately for the Cable (Ethernet) settings and Wireless (Airport)

• Having lots of problems with getting a phone line ...

this may be a bit of a long story sorry, but this has now stretched to nearly 2 months without phone and internet and i desperately need help as i rely on both for my business.
we moved in to our new house in october and ordered BT phone and internet on the 18th of October, we've now had 3 engineers out to connect a phone line but yesterday after the 3rd one turned up, and then left without informing me, i phoned BT to ask where he was to be told i now had to rebook my appointment for the 6th of December, nearly 2 months after moving into my house.
first engineer came on the 8th of november, a very nice man who explained to me the phone line in my house was 20 year old outdated underground line which was no longer in use by BT, he phoned his boss and was told he'd need to put up a whole new line. he went away to get a harness and ladder etc, came back and climbed the pole and got the line up and put it to my house. he then took the whole thing down again... came in to inform me that the line didnt meet regulations as it was not high enough, and he couldnt use the other pole as it was too close to electrical wires. he was gutted to have lost a whole day but informed me it is the law that bt have to provide me with a phone line and that if they dont do anything within 3 days i should complain. i was disappointed as i'd taken the day off work for this, being self employed this cost me a lot of money.
next day i was back to work as normal, a new bt engineer phoned saying he was at my house. i said i'd come back to meet him but he told me not to bother, as he'd already inspected the area and decided the first engineer was wrong and he should have infact put the line up at the pole which was beside the electrical wires, so he told me he'd book a new appointment and bt would phone me to let me know.
i waited a week with no phone call or email so i phoned BT myself on Saturday 16th November. i got a lovely lady on the phone who actually seemed horrified at what had happened, she couldnt be more helpful and managed to get me a cancellation appointment the following thursday, 21st november, from the BT engineers and assured me the order would be completed this time. great, but annoying as again i had to be in the house which meant a 2nd day off work costing me a lot more money again.
21st november - yesterday - bang on 9am a knock at the door, great. new BT engineer is there, an older unfit looking gentleman wrapped up in hats and scarfs and huge jackets. straight away he came across to me that he couldnt be bothered with this, he was asking me what line i had, what the previous guy did, what the 2nd guy said needed doing, he didnt know himself. i explained to him and he went away back into his van. he sat there for 30-40 minutes, came back to the door to say he needed a cherrypicker to get him up the pole to connect the new phone line but as it was in another place it wouldnt be here till the afternoon. he then went on to ask me if i would be staying in all day as it would get done today, he said i needed to stay in the house all day 'you wont be going anywhere will you?' i was told to stay and wait for him over and over again. i said this was fine as i'd had to take another day off work, i couldnt afford a 3rd day so i wouldnt be going anywhere.
come 11.30am, he returned, he just said he wanted to update me on that he was heading into the village to fix a phone line then would return, again he asked for assurances i wouldnt leave the house etc and i said thats fine.
12:15pm - a man phoned from BT to rebook my engineer appointment, i kindly explained he was here at half 11 and was returning to complete the job later. the man on the phone said thats fine but please phone us back if he doesnt reappear. at this point i was very worried, phoned the missus for her opinion and we agreed i should phone back so i phoned back straight away. this time i got a nice scottish man on the phone and i explained everything, he went and checked things for me and said the system still said my order was in progress so if the engineer had told me he'd be coming back, he saw no reason why he wouldnt. i was happy with that and agreed.
3:30pm - still no sign so i phoned BT back to say i was worried he had left, it was a nice man on the phone again but talked in broken english and didnt understand me completely a lot of the time... (i have a scottish accent ) the whole call took about an hour but eventually it turned out the BT engineer had indeed just decided to go home, im presuming he decided it was too much work in the wind and rain, and to add insult to injury he'd even told BT my order was completed. i asked the man on the phone if i could talk to someone higher up as i wish to complain as i needed my order completed today, he point blank refused saying he would file the complaint on my behalf which i wasnt happy with but he wasnt having it any other way. he decided to rebook my appointment for the 6th of december despite this meaning i'd need to take a 3rd day off work costing me yet more money. he then had me wait on the phone whilst he typed out my complaint and gave me a complaint reference number, he didnt really check anything with me as to what i wanted in the complaint so i am a bit worried not everything is in there. i could add more on this, im not happy at having to wait for another 2 weeks aswell considering the last lady found me an appointment within just 4 days of me phoning, i believe i should have priority for an urgent appointment?
anyway, i am very annoyed by this whole thing. i have remained patient up until today and now i just dont know what to do, im not the type to complain but this is ridiculous, i can see the same thing happening with the next engineer. i do expect some form of compensation over this whole affair as it is not fair at all that i will now have to take 3 days off my self employed job which is very very costly for me and is money i can not get back. not to mention the loss in business from not having the internet as we take appointments and orders online, we have been unable to use this for 2 months now. the amount of money i have lost over all of this is unbelieveable. fair enough i did not mind at all having to wait for my first appointment, or for taking the first day off work for the work to be done. that was fair enough, i realise these guys are busy and that was the earliest appointment i could have so that was fine. but now that i have to take another 2 days off work is the problem, not to mention all this extra time with no internet.
please could one of you help me out here as i dont know what else to do. ideally im hoping someone could sort out an earlier appointment for me like the original woman on the phone did, getting me a cancellation, as i am in desperate need of it now as december is our busiest month. i also wish to file my own complaint about all of this if possible. thank you in advance for any help and i am sorry for the length of this post. cheers.

You will not get any compensation from the failure to provide a residential line, apart from what BT say on this page.
Customer service guarantee
BT do not provide or maintain the external network. This is done by Openreach who work for all service providers. BT do not get any special treatment.
If you are waiting for Openreach to deal, then that appointment is going to be the earliest available.
You could take a laptop into town, and use it on the available hotspots. It would also be worth considering adding broadband to the business line, to make things easier at the shop.
As this is only a customer to customer forum, all I can do is to ask a BT Moderator to see if they can help, but I doubt that they can influence Openreach, as Openreach deal with other service providers as well.
I have asked a moderator to provide assistance, they will post an invite on this thread.

• Having lots of problems with my ipod...

Can anyone help me with these problems i've already tried wiping my ipod and doing the battery test but still nothing...
I have a 4th Generation iPod with 40Gigs of memory
1. My battery is supposed to work for 10 hours instead it works for 1.5 hours
2. My songs will play for about 40 seconds to 2 minutes and then they'll start to stutter and come to a complete stop and then restart
3. My iPod constantly freezes

If you got 1,5 hours of playback time using the battery test, then it needs replacing. I'm of the opinion that bad batteries can cause all sorts of errors.
If it's not under warranty, try Googling "iPod batteries" for 3rd party (and cheaper) replacements.
Even if the poor battery performance is not causing the errors, you need it replaced first of all.

• I'm Having lots of Problems with IOS 6 for the 4S

My iPhone 4S is having tons of issues, I've had it for quite a while.
1. On my iPhone there are quite a bit of songs but about 1/4 of them actually play. The rest are greyed out and I can't play them. Although they don't work on my iPhone, 1/2 to 3/4 of the greyed out songs work on iTunes.
2. Quite a bit of the songs I have on iTunes don't play. I click on them but it completely ignores that I tried to play them and just plays a different song. I've tried playing one song and skipping next to a song that doesn't seem to work but it skips over it.
3. Both Wifi and Bluetooth are greyed out on the iPhone, I've tried restarting it but it doesn't change, I've also reset my iPhone to factory settings then reapplied the information from before through back up but it still doesn't seem to work.
We're probably going to an apple store soon but are there any other things I could do before hand just to see if these issues can be fixed?
Thanks to anyone with advice. Anything helps.

Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings
Ensure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If your issue is still unresolved, perform a software restore in iTunes.

• I am not able to access the history button that will empty my cache----they won't light up so I can use them and I am having lots of problems with function

My computer is running stupid and I am being told by my malware bytes that I don't have any problems and when I try to clear my cache none of the buttons work after show history. THEY are all useless and won't light up to use them. I also have not been able to set up zoho as my default email address for all default emails====windows won't let me even though i disabled windows email, I still can't set up zoho.com

When you use the private browsing feature, Firefox does not keep your history after your session. You don't need to clear history manually, you can just close Firefox.
If you're looking for another way to clear you cache, you can use this one:
Open the Options dialog using either:
* orange Firefox button > Options > Options
* Tools menu (if you have the classic menu bar) > Options
Click Advanced, then on the Network mini-tab look for the Cached Web Content section and click the "Clear Now" button.
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
Perhaps, though, we should step back and ask for a more specific description of running wack. What's going on?

• Having lots of problems with my firefox. It does not download when I click unless I restart the firefox many times. It does not open a new windows. Help please!

2 problems:
1. Files aren't downloaded when I click download. It only downloads after I restart the firefox many times.
2. New windows aren't being opened.
Help please. I've encountered the first problem since way back, but it wasn't this severe, now the downloading is very limited as I have to restart firefox many many times.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Some security software is also able to block new window.
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

• Lots of Problems with New MacBook Air

I just got my MacBook Air and when I type any number on the keyboard it will type as if I am pressing the shift key and in Safari if I click something it will be added to my bookmarks bar and it doesnt recognize the camera, which is the internal one. Please help!

A few things to note...
If you had contacted Apple about each of the issues that you reported here, they would have kept a log of the problems that would help them determine whether to continue support after the warranty expires.
You might consider asking about "Flat Rate Repair Pricing." See the discussion thread here and note that some users report that the flat rate repair pricing is only available in the U.S. and Japan.

Good Luck!
