I'm Having Problem Restoring my iPod

Ok so my one day I tried to put songs into my iPod Touch - 32GB
Then it keepsgetting an error something about sync.
I've been checking the forums and people say that the best way is to
restore your iPod. First what i did was reset my Unit then connected it to Pc
With itunes on it says that 'iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "iPod Touch" Go to the Summary tab in iPod Preferences and click restore to Restore it to it's factory Settings.'
(When it doesn't contain anythinig at all why cant it read contents? Lol)
Then When I tried to restore I keep getting Connection error everytime the download is 100%.
So then I tried manual restore, meaning I downloaded an ipsw restore file for the latest update.
5.1.1 9B206. Then It started extracting it was going good until it reaches 'Preparing to restore iPod' Then an Error came up.
Something about failing to restore because an unknown error Occured. Error 2005.
Now before I goe here, which is my last resort. I've done everything possibly that people posted here and everywhere else.
*I've reinstalled iTunes
*I made sure iTunes is on latest verion. 10.6
*I removed every usb jacks except mouse and keyboard.
*I tried using the back USB ports.
*I removed everything, itunes, quicktime and mobileme and Reinstalled them.
*Restarted alot of times.
NOTHING SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED.
my iPod is working fine it's just that I cant place anything with it in iTunes. (As stated above sync problems.)
That's why im restoring it. Til now its working fine just really cant restore any sync it.

Hi can you help I was having problems with my iPod so I restored it but I
accidentally set it up as a new iPod is there any way to restore it from an old
backup when I right click iPod in iTunes there isn't one anyway to recover one
    or find it on computer

The following says how to restore from backup.
    iOS: How to back up
If you go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices you can see if you have an iTunes backup. You need one dated before or the exact time you started the restore.

Disable the computer's security software during the download and update.

  • Problem restoring my ipod touch

I had to put my new ipod touch that i got last week into restore made because it was having problems. My ipod touch doesn't even turn on and show the connect to itunes icon anymore. I plugged it back into my computer (windows xp) and I open up itunes. Itunes says that there is an ipod in restore mode that needs to be restored before using it. I click restore and an error comes up saying: "software for this ipod is not currently availabe. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again". I have downloaded iTunes 8 and tried to restore it but it still does not work. If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

try reseting your ipod by holding the home button and the sleep/wake at the same time until the apple logo appears on screen after you disconnect it from itunes.

  • I am constantly having to restore my Ipod Touch 32g 4th Gen. This is the 7th time in about 5 months.

I am constantly having to restore my Ipod Touch 32g 4th Gen. This is the 7th time in about 5 months.

If you have only restored from backup in the past, try resoring to factory defaults/new iPod since there may be some corruption that is causing the problem and corruption is in the backup.
If you still have a problem after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod the you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is n order.

  • I recently had to swap out my iphone 4s and I am having problems restoring photos and videos from icloud.  I get a message on my phone that says " the URL you are requesting is not found on this server".  Pics and videos have been deleted too.

I recently had to swap out my iphone 4s and I am having problems restoring photos and videos from icloud.  When I restored my phone from icloud, half of my pics and videos have been deleted, the pics that were restored on my phone are very blurry, and the videos won't play.  I get a message on my phone that says " the URL you are requesting is not found on this server".  I have erased and reset my phone twice, but every time I do it, more pics and videos are deleted.  I have backed up to icloud and iphoto, however, some of the pics are no longer on iphoto either.  Is there someway to get the videos to play on my phone again?  Make the photos not as blurry as they are now and to restore the pics and videos that have been lost?  I really would love to have them back, this phone is supposed to be the best and right now it doesn't seem to be.  Please help if you can.

I too have noticed that once i restored from iCloud. Pictures blurry and videos wont play!
    Need help too!!

  • I have been having problems with my iPod touch and my WRT...

I have been having problems with my iPod touch and my WRT54G router. I am so frustrated right now because after following the various steps mentioned in one of these threads, following Earthlink's prompts, and speaking with Apple, my iPod touch will still not work. It is connected to the internet but will not download the pages. It is quite frustrating. I have changed from WPA to WEP, I switched the 4th Generated key to the 1st. I've disabled this, enabled that. I've done just about everything. I updated the firmware. I made the switch from a partial bridge to a full bridge. Still nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any other suggestions? The one thing I have not done is enter the Apple code into the iPod which searches for website...-- I cannot access the internet with my iPod so this web address does not work. If anyone has been successful, will you please give me step by step instructions? Yesterday I was on the phone with Linksys for about an hour. Before that with Apple for about an hour and before that with Earthlink. How it is that I can walk into a Bread Co. or Apple Store and immediately connect to the internet with my iPod but I can't in my own house?? Everyone seems to think it is someone else's problem so I've gone around and around. Not one of the Linksys support personnel suggested I look here on this community forum. I had to pay the $9 fee to have advanced Linksys help but still my iPod does not work and when I called back, the man I spoke with seemed to think the case was closed because my PC, Laptop, and iPod are connected to the internet -- the iPod just won't download the webpages or get mail. My iPod's IP address begins with 192. I would appreciate any help on this matter

I had the same issues with my iPod touch & iPhone. It's a known issue with the touch & Linksys G routers. Go into settings on the touch & do the following.
    1. Settings - wifi - linksys
    2. Erase your DNS settings & input same numbers as in router
    Settings.
    3. Http proxy should be
    in off position.
    4. Close out & open safari you should now have a wireless
    connection.

  • I am having problems with my ipod syncing all of my videos to my ipod from my itunes playlist, it will only sync about half even though they are all checked

i am having problems with my ipod syncing all of my videos to my ipod from my itunes playlist, it will only sync about half even though they are all checked

I assume there is more than ample space remaining on your iPod to hold all the videos?  Are you getting any error messages during the sync process?
Do all of these videos play okay in iTunes?  Is the sync only checked songs and videos option enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab?
What other setting do you have enabled from under the iPod's video configuration tab in iTunes?

  • HT1386 having problems sync my ipod touch saying error (-81) does anybody know what to do

having problems sync my ipod touch to my itunes on windows xp

I have no idea. It is not listed in any App articles and a Google search did not even find a hit for the error number.
    All I can suggest is:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

  • HT201210 Having trouble restoring my ipod touch 4 gen. When i click restore i get an error message saying that " problem downloading software for the "ipod owner's ipod"

When i try to restore my ipod i recieve an error message saying that "problem downloading softwar  for the ipod owner's ipod. error (-23) Please help i need to restore because my daughter somehow set a passcode lock on it and didnt know it and does not know passcode.

There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone (or another iOS device)
See the steps below for error codes 3000-3999.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • I'm Having Problems With My iPod, Is any one else?

Hi, I was given a 5th Gen. iPod for Christmas which replaced my 3rd Gen. one. I loved my 3rd gen. and had not one problem with it. At first My new ipod was great until I started back at Uni after Christmas hols. which was the point at which i started using it very regularly and i started having some problems which are actually starting to ruin my enjoyment of my music.
I'll list them here. What i want to know is are other people having the same probs or am I an unlucky one and should try and get it exchanged/fixed as its still under warranty, or is there something else i can do? I've already restored twice to factory settings with no joy. And I have the latest iPod Software (1.1)
The Problems are as as such:
    1. Often when watching videos the video will freeze but I still get sound and I can't get the video to unfreeze unless i totally restart the vid. from scratch.
    2. The Battery Life meter is very intermittent it will jumps from almost empty to half full and back so i have no real idea what the battery life is like (this hasn't happened that often).
    3. I often get the Warning triangle on start up and no matter how many time I do the reset (Hold off-on then select-menu) it wont reset properly (it does eventually work but after a combination of many tries, plugging it in etc. very frustrating this one)
    4. Freezes on updates numerous times. Esp. If I do an iSync to my calendar etc. as well (Btw it doenst freeze necessarily on the iSync part just seems to happen more often if i have iSync setup).
    5. Freezes on start-up at the apple symbol and again resets often don't work.
plus various other odd problems. At the moment I'm very disappointed with it. First time I've said that about an Apple product For a long time. Is there something i can do or are a lot of other people having similar problems, is this a send back issue or try and wait for the next firm/software to fix the problem?
Any Ideas would be much appreciated,
    Thanks You
    Paul (aka. Hyper Nova )

    1) This is because of software version 1.1. See this
thread for some options as to how to go back to 1.0,
    which will correct the problem...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=3754
    59&tstart=0
    2) This tends to happen after videos. Give the iPod a
minute or two to readjust. It should now be more
    accurate.
    3) This?
iPod shows a folder icon with exclamation
    point
    4) Restore the iPod
    5) Try these...
iPod Only Shows An Apple Logo and Will Not Start
    Up
iPod Only Shows An Apple Logo
I think 3,4, and 5 are related. Try the options I
    posted for each one.
    btabz
I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again

  • Problem restoring my iPod - "Resource was not found"

My iPod hardrive is a little bit dodgy (to say the least.) When I try to connect it to my computer, it comes up with an error message that says "ITunes has detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod."
So I restore it, but then another message pops up that says "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod “iPod.” The requested resource was not found." and then iTunes stops recognizing my iPod.
    Any suggestions?

i was also having the same problem. i seem to have fixed the problem but time will tell.
    here is what i did.
    1. you have to get rid of itunes 7. i did a lot of reading on the internet looking into error 1418 and 1429 and this is happening to a lot of people after they do the software update. trash everything except the itunes music folder, (where all of your mp3's a stored. don't empty the trash until you have your old songs back on your new old version of itunes 6, just to be safe.
    2. find a download for itunes 6. not the easiest thing in the world but you should be able to find it on a bit torrent or ask a friend that might still be running on that to send you a copy.
    3. you can try and restore your ipod with the old ipod updater that comes with itunes 6, (2006-01-10). it might not work the first time, it might not work after several. but at least give it a go. mine would update sometimes but then when i tried to play songs on it later it would just tear through songs and not play anything.
    4. open up your disk utility program. i ran a repair permissions and repair disk first, both times i got a message saying there was a bad btree situation going on. if you don't get this message, i suggest trying to restore it again before you go to step five.
    5. you are going to have to completely erase the **** thing. choose erase and pick the default option that comes up (mac os extended (journaled))
    6. your ipod is going to be in disk mode now, don't trip out.
    7. run the ipod updater again. once again, mine wouldn't allow me to eject the ipod once it was done so i just restarted it.
after all this, it opened up itunes and asked me to name my ipod. everything has been cool now since this morning. good luck!

  • I'm having problems with my iPod

I had my iPod plugged in and it didn't show up right away on iTunes. Then it said it was having problems and to restore it to the factory settings, well I was stupid and just disconnected it. Now it's frozen, and shows a sychronizing sign not moving and says 1:36 PM. My computer and iTunes won't read it. Can anyone help?

Have you tried [resetting your iPod|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320]? Resetting it should clear it so that you can connect it to your computer again and have it be recognized.
