My printer carriage is not moving from side to side, It's like something not connecting and the light is blinking.

Please review this post and then post some details. What printer model? What operating system? How is the printer connected? Are there any error messages?

i have prfiled the mac and printer wiht colormunki and uplodated the profile sucessfully
i set the printer to correct icc profile
print out comes out same with glazed colors and missing tones/colors
however when i use the same printer on windows and with light room, following same icc profile, colormunki calibrated profile, the print our are excellent.
i have also tried using printer manage profile using the Mac and Aperture and get same poor prints

I've a Pro9000 and also use Colormunki successfully.
When I use Colormunki, I calibrate both of my monitors and the printer/paper combination. Colormunki saves the generated profiles to the correct places -- I don't load or change any profiles after that as that would mess-up what the Colormunki had just done for me, and this would likely mess-up the prints.
Though I double-check the settings in the print dialogue, the choice for the printer handling things is already grayed-out. Colorsync handles it all just fine.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

You may have inadvertently installed adware. You do not need to download or install anything to fix it. It ought not to be related to any Apple security update.
For a description of how this may have occurred, how to avoid it in the future, and for Apple's recommended actions read How to install adware. Apple's instructions are linked in the Recovery Procedure near the end of that document. Read and follow them carefully. Pay particular attention to the easily overlooked passages directing you to restart your Mac when required.

Yeah it does have that on/off switch and it's turned on. Siri won't work for some reason, I don't know if it's to do with this E thing?

I have recently purchased a Mac. I'm very dissapointed at the way Outlook 2011(the newest version, what?!?)interfaces with the Mac. I used the contacts feature all the time when I had a microsoft system. Now, I can't do that with Outlook for the Mac. Does anyone have any alternative Apps that they've used for Business contacts? thank you both for your responses. I'm having trouble mostly with a way to handle my business contacts. I'm self employed and when I had Outlook for Microst(before I switched to Apple)I was so pleased with this softward. Esp the way it would keep track of any correspondense between me and my customer. I could also track billing thru Outlook contacts.
Now, I get my mail thru outllook and use ical and @contacts. I see that I can have a separate group of contacts thru @contacts, but, it's not the same or nearly as good as Outlook contacts for Microsoft.
So, right now I'm really disapointed with my Mac purchase and hoping to find an app that will help. I will investigate Thunderbird.

I see that you're having an issue with the battery.

Now, if you have to "mess" with the charger which I believe you mean move the charger back and forth to get it to charge, there might be an issue with the power cord itself.

ITunes / iPod having problems with lyrics in MP3 files and not with M4A ?

Over the last two month (without this forum) I believed sometimes to be the only one having a weird problems with iTunes lyric format structure.
Now after more than 50h of investigations interesting results appear.
The field of trouble:
a) People are not able to delete lyrics in iTunes
b) People discover that iTunes and their iPod/iPhone do not show the same lyrics
c) it seems that the lyrics of certain songs can't synchronised with the iPod
d) it seems that the problem in iTunes can appear more than one times that itunes corrupts the contents of lyrics in a way that:
e) the text structure is damaged, no more line breaks, no empty lines between text sections.
After all my suspicion is: All of this trouble can be caused by one problem:
iTunes (at least latest version 9.0.3 (15) has a -unkonwn- problem with the lyric-text structure in MP3-files. It seems that iTunes does not have the same problems if the file is in M4A-file format, created by apple-store files being downloaded, or CDs being converten in iTunes using the build in AAC-converter!
Converting "infected" files (via AAC) to M4A are clean again (on iTunes and iPod) showing no more one of the trouble ahead. The ghost is eliminated. Everything synchronizes as it should be.
And I for myself have to convert more than 3000 songs now... to ged rid of this nightmare.
Now I'm very curious of You experiences. Can You confirm my suspicion? Or have You had similar problems with Your M4A-files too?

Try this -> http://mp3val.sourceforge.net/ to verify and fix MP3 files.
Also, it could be the version of the ID3 tags.
Select a song in iTunes then go to iTunes menu Advanced -> Convert ID3 tags and select a different version and see what happens.

Having problems with phone getting too hot when not in use

Hi there -- I'm trying to figure out what I can do to fix this. Recently I had to get a replacement S3 because my original shut off mid-use and wouldn't turn back on. The replacement has been here for about a month and in the last 2 weeks I'm having issues with it getting too hot. The first time it happened, I had it plugged into the stock charger for about 1 1/2 hours - and I had picked it up expecting it to be fully charged but it was extremely hot and had a warning on the main screen saying that the battery was critically hot and was not charging and the phone was nearly completely dead. I unplugged it, took the battery out and let the main phone body cool down. After about 15 minutes, the body felt like room temperature again, so I put it all back together. It turned on, charged normally that night and all was well.
Now for the last several days, I'm having issues again with it getting hot at random times when I'm not even using it (and not charging it). The last time, I downloaded a temperature app and it said the phone was nearly 105 degrees, and it felt the hottest right at the home button. Later that night after it cooled down, I noticed that the battery wasn't charging at all and was depleting rapidly on the charger. I restarted twice with no change and then took the battery out and let it sit for several minutes. After that it began charging again.
With it getting hot so much more often now, I'm starting to worry about this happening when I need my phone for an emergency as I spend a lot of time on the road transporting my kids to school and activities. Is there a fix for this? It doesn't appear to be the battery because my husband and I have the same phone and I've already swapped batteries with him - same issue for me, no issue for him. Please help? Thanks!

Hello Micheliu813, let's get to the bottom of this together! Are you using the same charger that came with the phone or a 3rd party charger? We can also test the phone in safe mode to see if the device heats up again. Check here for steps: http://vz.to/1kb9LUM

Having problems with my Broadband and BT will not ...

For the last TWO years I have had problems with my broadband.
The problem is that my hub keeps re-synic it self. Yes I know that this supposed to happen but surly not up to 10 times a day, (some times 6 times in one hour) Every Day.
I have no extension sockets just a Phone & broadband hub connected to the master socket
I know the problem is neither with my BT Hub or my phone as I have replaced with another of each and the problem still persists.
I have checked my wiring, BT have checked the exchange all appears to be OK. BT sent a engineer to check my master socket and because they could not find a fault I got charged £80 and I still got the problem.
I explained to the engineer that I think the problem is the Length of cable between the point were the line comes in and my master socket (it over 9 meters long) which goes all round my flat (maybe picking up electrical interference) , but they have refused to move my master socket to make it shorter.
What else can I do ? It BT responsibility for the wiring between the point the line accesses my property and the master socket but they wont do any think to correct matters. All I am told they could send a engineer but it will cost if they can't find the fault.
As I said this problem is been going on for over two years , I can not use my laptop, Internet radio without losing connection after a hour or so. I am getting very frustrated and thinking of cancelling my BT contract, and going to some where else.

The problem is not with my computer. Its only about 2 feet away from the hub
It my Broadband hub that problem is with. The Blue broadband light on the Hub goes out, after a couple of seconds comes back on flashing orange, then after about 30 seconds it stops flashing and remains a steady orange, then returns to blue again.
I know the hub is supposed to this occasionally to re-synic for difference in line speed etc, but surly not every day and some times about ten times in a day. I have sat here and watch it do it even up to six times in a hour. It not a faulty hub as I have replaced that and still the problem persists
I can hear intermittent broadband type noise on my phone but again I have replaced the filter many times (and the telephone) but the fault is still there.
I think it must be electrical pick up.
I have no extension socket (just the hub and phone connected to the Master socket)
I have asked BT to come and shorten the cable between were the line Enters my Flat and Master socket, (The cable is over 9 Meters long and goes all round my flat before getting to the MASTER socket.
But even though cable before the master socket is BT's responsibility they refuse without me paying a call out charge of about £80 to come out to shorn it.
So for the last Two years I have the problem but I am getting very frustrated now, so am thinking that when my contract runs out in a couple of months I will go to another suppler that will move my master socket for Free. Why Should I pay £20 pounds a month for rubbish service>

I'm having problems with my printer

Hello,
I am a basic Mac user, just got my Mac couple months ago.
The only real problem I've had so far is my printer.
I mean I can print, but I can't seem to pull up the printer so that I can scan stuff.
There isn't an Icon that pops up on my desktop or anything.
Maybe it shouldn't pop up? I'm really not to sure.
But I am a student and do need to scan a lot of stuff for school, so if you could give me a suggestion it'd be great!
The printer I have is an HP psc 1350 all-in-one
I've downloaded and installed the proper drivers for it by the way
I also have photoshop if there is a way to scan images into there.

Well I tried to reinstall the drivers and, still no luck.
I really don't know what the problem is, I really do need a solution though. I could always go out and buy a new scanner but I would really not like to spent that much money on something that could be just a problem that lies right in front of me ya know?
Anyone have suggestions, I'd really appreciate the feed back.

Still having problems with dark prints in lightroom and photoshop

Below is a quick comarison of prints out of Aperture on the left and Lightroom on the right.
I have my monitors calibrated and my printer 3800 profiled.
I am not double proofing.
I also put the print adjustment slider to 25 on the lightroom print.
Although the photo below is not an accurate representation you can see the the colors and saturation are compleatly different.
And the one from Aperture matches my monitor!
Now I switched to lightroom because of the rendering of the raw files and the amout of adjustments that can be preformed, along with profiling cameras.
What I am now doing is processing in Lightroom exporting to Aperture to print and load on to my iPad.
Not a great workflow!
Anybody got any suggestions?

What are your print settings? Managed by printer or using a profile in Lightroom? Are you using the correct profile for the paper? What version of Mac OS? Are you using the very latest printer driver for your printer? I.e. more info needed. My prints from LR come out identical in tone to those from Aperture.

Having problems with InDesign6 and the new OSX Mavericks

I just downloaded the new OSX and now my Id6 won't open. It starts initializing and the I get the message "InDesign quit unexpectedly." I am in the middle of publishing a book for someone using the "export to kindle" plug-in which isn't compatible with IdCC. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have just run into the same issue. New Macbook Pro running Maverick and I have Vectorworks 2011. Appple support recommends against partitioning the hard drive on a new MacBook Pro running Maverick. (The first call the apple person suggested it. On a follow up call they strongly recommend against doing it because it can screw up the firmware.) How did doing the downgrade work for you, and how did you do it, external drive, partition? I hate to drop $1300 on Vectorworks when I don't yet need it.
