I'm having trouble downloading the latest update of Itunes, I think its 11.4,

I'm trying to do the update for the latest itunes software and it keep giving me this error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start the system services. My 3 options are: abort, retry or ignore. I don't understand why its not working at all. Any thoughts?
Also I can't even open Itunes anymore either.

Hello Uofmichchick,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Best of luck,
Mario

  • I'm having trouble downloading the firmware update through iTunes...

For three days I've been trying to get iTunes to download the update. I get anywhere from 10% to 80% of the file downloaded, then get a time-out error. When I resume the download, it starts over from the beginning. I must have downloaded the first 100 MB 20 times now.
My internet connection is strong and stable, but I have not been able to get this download through iTunes.
Is there a direct download available somewhere? Is there a way to have iTunes save a partial download and continue where it left off?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Go HERE for the direct download links.
Once you download the update file, you simply connect your iPhone, and press the option key (Mac) or the shift key (Windows) while clicking the Update button in iTunes, and you'll be prompted to locate the file you downloaded.

What is the exact error message you are receiving?  Have you checked to make sure the connections on each end of the USB cable are nice and snug?

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I downloaded the latest update of Itunes, and now I have no music.  NONE.  how do I uninstall this mess and go back to what I had, without having to  put it all back in manually.  I am really hating ITUNES right now.

What happened to my music when I downloaded the latest version of Itunes?  I had quite a few songs there and now NOTHING. I want to uninstall this version and go back to the older one.  how do I do this without wiping out whatever else is left on there?  I am already ticked off that I will have to put all my music back an there manually    ( I don't want all my music collection on Itunes.  I am really hating Itunes right now.  So what can I do?

    Hi,
[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/?src=search Xmarks] is a bookmarks/history/tabs backup/sync utility. It is not a feature of Firefox. It is an extension which had to be manually added or perhaps could have come with another extension.
If you have registered with the service you have to enter the username and password to log in to the service. Otherwise try pressing the '''Esc''' key on the keyboard and after Firefox opens, go to '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons''', click Extensions on the left and look for Xmarks and '''Disable''' to disable it or '''Remove''' to uninstall it. If that doesn't work, start Firefox in [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe%20Mode Safe Mode.] In the first screen choose '''Disable all add-ons''' and '''Make Changes and Restart''' and repeat the above procedure, but this time, re-enable all the needed extensions except Xmarks. You may also have to re-enable the plugins after clicking '''Plugins''' on the left).

  • Cannot download the latest update for itunes

When I go to help update I cannot download the latest version of itunes. Will I have to download from the Apple site?

Okay, so I called this number (1-800-692-7753) and asked to speak to someone (to avoid using the animated voice system). The guy asked to share my screen so he could better help me. We ended up unistalling every single thing dealing with iTunes/Apple on my PC (following these instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923).
Once everything was unistalled, we went to the Apple iTunes website (http://www.apple.com/itunes/) to install iTunes again.
This time it worked! And all my music was just how I left it.
Apparently there was a problem with the update through iTunes, a file was missing or corrupted or something, so this is the only way to get around that mess.
    I hope this helps everyone!

  • Can't download the latest update for iTunes

    Hi,
I tried to download the sofware update for itunes 10.6.3 for my MacBook Pro, but as soon as the download begins, it stops and I get an error message saying: "The update 'iTunes' can't be installed", and also "The update could not be verified..." and so on. How can I get the sofware update to download then? Help anyone?
    Thanks,
    Ilan.

I'd try updating using a .dmg installer downloaded from the Apple Website:

  • HT201210 I downloaded the latest update to itunes.  I am now getting a message that my ipod is on recovery mode and needs to be restored.  When I click to restore, it says it does not recognize the device.

I downloaded the latest version of itunes.  I am now getting the message that my ipod is in recovery and needs to be restored.  When I click to restore, it says it does not recognize this device.  Now my ipod is frozen with an image of a cord and an arrow pointing toward the itunes icon.  All was working fine before the download!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Having problems downloading the latest version of iTunes

I am trying to download the latest version of iTunes to my PC and when it is in the "installing" phase, it just "sits" there, nothing happening. If I cancel, my iTunes disappears and I have to restore to an earlier date to see it again. What is wrong?

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • Having trouble downloading the new version of itunes on Macbook, can you help me?

    Hi,
I bought my computer MacBook about six years ago. I am trying to download the new version of itunes. It downloads to my computer, but then asks me for my name and installer password. The options to get that password back is to install the initial disk of the computer, which I do not have anymore or restart the computer doing some sort of steps. I am clueless when it comes to computers, so if anyone can help me that would be awsome!
My computer has been running fine these past years and I would hate for the answer to be that I have to replace my MacBook for another Mac....
