I'm having trouble getting music into my iTunes.

All of my purchased music is fine but if I try and put a free mix tape, my itunes crashes. I get the "Itunes has stopped working" thing and it does that everytime. I've tried unistalling it, repairing it and doing whatever I could find on the internet. I cant get any mix tapes only albums that artists release. Right now I havent tried purchasing anything on my itunes because i just do it from my phone so I dont have to fiddle around with itunes on my computer. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, thanks.

Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app (or video app) on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

Having Trouble updating music into my ipod

I just downloaded all the newer software into my ipod and now after resetting when i plug my ipod into my coumputer the screen stays at "Do Not Disconnet" and will not allow me to do anything to my ipod through itunes

If you have your iPod set to transfer your music manually, then that “do not disconnect” message will continue to be displayed on your iPod until you manually eject it.
You can do this by clicking on the little eject icon next to the iPod listing in the source window of iTunes, or right click on it and select “eject”. There is also an iPod 'eject' icon in the lower right hand corner of iTunes. Another way would be to use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod. Or through Windows, select start/my computer, right click on the iPod, select eject.
If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes, right click on the iPod in iTunes, select options and if you have a check mark in the box marked “enable disk use”, remove it and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.

I am have trouble getting music I have already purchased in the past to transfer to my phone after I did an update. The music is there and I can see it but it cannot be played when the music is put on shuffle. It just skips right past it? How do you fix?

I can see the music, it is in a lighter font and appears to still be there but will not play. When placed on shuffle it will skip right over this music. Trouble moving music from my iTunes to my iPhone.

I downloaded the new iTunes software very recently, but now I seem to be having trouble moving music from my iTunes library onto my iPhone. If I click and drag the track to the iPhone icon, the icon is completely unresponsive. If I right-click the track and hit "Add to iPhone" nothing happens either. My iPhone is synced to my laptop and 'Trusts' it, so I don't understand why I'm not getting any response from my phone when I try to move music into it.
This is especially frustrating as when I tried to download the new software for my iPhone it suddenly and inexplicably went into recovery mode, and though I recovered the phone's data from backup all my music has been deleted from my phone and I can't get it back.
Am I doing something wrong that I'm unaware of, or is there a problem with the software? Any feedback would be hugely appreciated.

What country are you in ? If you aren't in the US and the address on your account isn't in the US then try going to the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your iPad and tap on your account id, tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account, and then select the Country/Region section and select your country.

Having trouble getting my music to play, this really annoys me because I spent MY money on itunes for these songs and suddenly they won't work anymore. They've worked in the past so I don't understand what could be going wrong. Only the songs that I've synced to my device from CDs work. I select a song hit the play button and nothing happens, it doesn't work with or withought earphones in. I've tried recycling my device multiple times too and I haven't dropped it recently so I don't know what the problem is. Please help me understand and fix my problem. Thanks in advance

Basically, unplug the dock for ten seconds, then reset your phone. Voila! It worked for me. Hope that helps.

After reading everybody’s responses I am feeling a little out of my depth. Being new to this I am having difficulty in understanding a lot of the information given to me and also in the information you require from me. It appears that one thing I should never do is mix film from two different cameras. I would really like to fix this one particular clip though as it holds an interview that was taken when leaving Coober Pedy and something that I don’t want to lose.
I have today done some research on the camera that took the offending video clip. It was a Samsung S85 and according to the Samsung website it uses MJPEG video format.

I downloaded and installed Media Info and Morgan Multimedia MJPEG Codec V3.99.108 today. Do I have to register it to get it to operate? I read the documentation file that came with it hoping to find a clue as what I should do but I could not comprehend the information it contained.

Having trouble recovering music files from data cd

Over a month ago my computer crashed, possibly due to me trying to update my ipod to Version 1.1. Unforunately a lot of my programs weren't working after that, including Itunes, but I still have my music files which I could not listen to so I decided to save them as data so that they would not be lost forever. I was finally able to get Itunes up and running a couple of days ago, the music files on my harddrive have been deleted. I am now having trouble getting the songs from the cd I had burned to back onto my hard drive, I have tried Apple's method of dragging the files to the Source List while in Itunes, but this does not work. I have also tried Importing the songs, copying the file, and copying the folders, but none of this works. Sorry for this being so long

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What do you have set in the System/CDs and DVDs preferences to do when a disk is inserted? If the option is not set to the Finder do so and see if that will make any difference.
Otherwise boot into Safe Mode and see if you can copy the files from the CD to a folder on the Desktop. Boot back into your normal account and see if you can import. Or import while still in the Safe Mode.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. This has been an on and off problem for me since I've purchased my X-Fi: I can only get certain speakers to work at a single time. As you know, in 5. there are the three /8 inch heads: green, black and orange. All of the heads, when plugged into the green slot (I am using the cable that converts the green head into the red and white inputs, not the green headphones input) on the X-Fi work. I take this to mean that all of the speakers do in fact work and that the problem lies within the device/drivers. I have looked high and low through windows and the creative control panels and changed all of the speaker settings to 5.. Maybe I am overlooking something.
I am using Windows 7 32-bit. I have tried both versions of the driver that are available via Creative's website.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I have disabled all the features (cmss, 3d, etc) and used the provided creative player and powerdvd player. Both work FINALLY right. I can listen to .ac3 5. music track and the SPDIF as a pure passthrough is sending 5. output to my Bose receiver. Same for the DVD sound.
Note when I used the VLC player the SPDIF still did not work right ... but since it does with the creative player I am good with it.
Once you activate any of the feature then the sound if brought down to a 2.0 (stereo) sound.
In my driver I do not have an option to disable the analog output - I assume that is different then the Vista one.
One other question. I have tested the card with Shure SE530 headset and the output is TERRIBLE - does it work fine for you with headset? (I am planning to use it only as SPDIF so no biggy but I was surprised on the poor quality. Those headset are amplified and filtered so there could be some issue with that).

The Apple IDs from @mac.com and @me.com (Older MobileMe and more recent iCloud Names) are also Valid AIM Screen names.
Any other sort of Apple ID is not a Valid AIM Name.
A Google ID that is associated with Google Mail Account (And has "Talk" enable on your Google Settings) can be used in iChat as Jabber Name/ID. (Google Run Jabber server).
Jabber and AIM are different IM Services and it is not easy or straight forward to add Buddies from one Service to the Buddy List of another. (As A Starting point consider it "impossible")
iChat 4 and 5 have links to the registration page of @Mac.com here with a "Get an iChat Account" button in the add (Account) screen (You select @mac.com or MobileMe and then press the Button - Choosing AIM and then pressing the button used to lead to the AIM registration page but AIM moved their page).
Apple IDs can be any valid email (or an @mac.com or iCloud registration)
Therefore you could make a Google ID into an Apple ID.
However this will not be a valid AIM Screen Name the way @mac.com or MobileMe/iCloud ones are.

These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
Mac OS X:  ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
