I'm having trouble with my airport express continually disconnecting from my network.

I have my airport express set up to extend my network wirelessly from my Airport Time Capsule base station. My base station is setup in the basement connected to my Comcast internet router (Motorola Surfboard SB6141). My Airport Express is on the main floor in our computer room and is connected via ethernet cable to my iMac. About 1x/day the express drops connection to the Time Capsule and the only way I can seem to get the extension back up and running is to stop/start the Time Capsule. Any ideas on what is wrong?

The easiest way to set up to most provider routers is to set up the time capsule to bridge mode with dhcp enabled--meaning the time capsule pulls an IP address from the providers router. Then connect the other express or extreme to time capsule using apples built in bridging.
Doing it this way gives your network one dhcp server--the providers router. This way you will be able to reach all your providers tv receivers for the app controllers because all devices will be on the same subnet.
The trade off is the controlling device for firewall and ports is the providers router. So if you want remote access to your hard drive in the time capsule you will need to allow this through the providers router.
To me it sounds like you have 2 dhcp servers and when you reboot the dhcp server that boots up the quickest give the IP address out. Then when the time to live timer expires and the devices needs to check and make sure it is still good with its IP address another dhcp server steps in and causes your issue.

AirPort Utility in Mountain Lion will not support the older versions of the AirPort Express.....model numbers A1084 and A1088. Check on the side of the Express for the model number.
In addition, AirPort Utility in Mountain Lion will not support the older "round" or "dome" shaped versions of the AirPort Extreme.
Can you check to see how your devices might be affected?

Well I am feeling a bit silly now because that was all I had to do. In the past Workgroup Manager had always opened right up to the list of my users, I never even thought to click on that but apparently that was all that was needed.
I still am not sure how the iChat Server preferences changed themselves on me, but it is not the first time I have had weird "settings" issues with our Snow Leopard Server.

if you don't have a dataplan and rely on wifi for internet that is how it works
if you do have a dataplan it sounds like it's not set up correctly in which case you should contact your carrier

With my Airport Express, I can join the network but not extend it.

I just bought a new Airport Express to extend the network I have setup with my Airport Extreme. At first, it seemed the Express was unable to get a correct IP address, I think because I had my DHCP server running from the cable modem, and the Extreme was just acting as a bridge. I switched the Extreme to run a DHCP server and now the Express correctly receives an IP address. However, it still tells me that it cannot extend the network, but gives no details why. It just tells me to make sure I have the correct password and to be sure I am in range.
Clearly I am in range and have the correct password, because when I switch to "join network", all works fine. Though when I do switch, I still get an amber blinking light and Airport Utility still thinks the Express is in Extend mode. When I unplug and replug the Express, then it comes up with a green light and Airport Utility shows it in Join mode and all works fine.
I am thinking there might be something wrong with my Express and am considering exchanging it. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why this may be happening?

Suggest that you check your AirPort Extreme to make sure that you have enabled the wireless network to be extended.
Open AirPort Utility, select the AirPort Extreme, and click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Just under the setting for Wireless Network name......make sure that there is a check mark next to "Allow this network to be exended".
Update to save changes
Now, try the configuration with the AirPort Express set to "Extend a wireless network"

Having trouble with my airport wireless and connecting to FIOS

I had FIOS installed right after the holidays and have been having trouble getting my mac and airport to connect wirelessly to FIOS. I have an actiontec router and have changed it to a WPA security key. I worked on it about two weeks ago and got it working, not even sure what I changed. Then we got the last software update and it must have changed a setting back because it will no longer work. I can connect via a cable, just not wirelessly. It will say it found the network and is connected, but I can't get to the internet. Any help would be appreciated?

It sounds like your wireless connection is working correctly. You have power cycled all devices on the network, correct?
If not, power everything off for a few minutes, start the modem/router first and let it run a few minutes by itself, then start your computer(s).
If still no luck, can you temporarily disable the security on your network to see if you can connect that way? If you can, then it will take some experimenting to find a compatible setting between the router and computer(s).
If you can't connect with no security, then the focus turns to the router settings. Not sure what to suggest there as I'm not familiar with the FIOS equipment.

I am having trouble resetting my airport express

My airport express is blinking amber & I have tried several times to reset. Tried unplugging and also a hard reset. When I open airport utility and try to set it up, keep getting an error message. Any help would be appreciatted.

This is the correct process to perform a factory default reset on the Express....or any other of the AirPort routers.
Please review this Apple support document to confirm. Resetting an AirPort base station FAQ - Apple Support
Try the reset again and restart your computer. If you continue to have issues, then it is likely that you have a defective AirPort Express.
Remember when you reset the Express, it will not appear in AirPort Utility until you click to start the setup utility.
Click on the WiFi icon at the top of the Mac's screen, then click on AirPort Express under the heading of New AirPort Base Station.

Airport express continually diasppears from admin utility

Hi people
I have an apple airport express and airport airport extreme base station
both with the latest firmware patches.
The airport extreme is connected to my optus cable modem and provided internet for my partners wireless laptop and my desktop. My desktop is plugged in via ethernet to extreme base station.
I can start the admin utility and run air tunes for a few minutes then the base station disappears from the admin utility and my connection to air tunes breaks. My connection to the internet remains ok.
If my partner uses her laptop via wireless to serve up airtunes the connection is stable and the basestation does not disappear from her admin utility.
No sure what is going on here, if anything i would have thought that a direct ethernet connection should be more reliable than a wireless connection. This is a very disappointing result as i specifically went the apple kit to ensure that the airtunes express would work with my router...
Any thoughts or is it (as i read other similar posts) completely broken ??

I have this exact same problem. It's like something spontaneously just ceased to work inside the AE unit. I don't understand it.
I tried updating the firmware to 6.3 and updated Airport on the G4 to 4.2.1, but nothing has changed. If anything, the problem seems to have gotten worse (sometimes connecting -- > NEVER connecting).
All the forums I have read seem to think this problem has yet to be solved by Apple. They recommend downloading iStumbler or a utility to monitor your networks and keep them "alive" by constantly pinging with a low-level signal. That hasn't worked either.
Need expert advice, please.

I'm having trouble with uploading two documents to iCloud from pages.

On my iPad2, two documents continue to have the blue 'updating' bar at the bottom and Pages continues to say "updateing 2 items" with the little spnning wheel. I've got plenty of space available both on the iPad and iCloud. Other documents are uplaoding just fine. The two documents are between 4 and 5 pages of text only. Any ideas?

Seems we're all having trouble with copyright watermarking. Any response from Adobe?

[LR 3.0 WIN] I've looked at the discussions here on the the topic, and there seem to be loads of problems and no answers. I thought LR3 was an upgrade from LR2, so was hoping the copyright marking of web images would be as good as or better, but in this respect it feels more like a downgrade.
I have loaded copyright information into the Copyright metadata field of all my (RAW) images for a web gallery. When I choose Simple Copyright Watermarking I see nothing on my large images (which are web size). Even if something were visible, there appears to be no control over its size or position. When I choose and set up a Watermark Preset, I can use fixed text or graphic, but apparently nothing that relates to the Copyright metadata. Like many people, I produce galleries with work from various authors, and each needs its own copyright marking. As things stand, I can't use LR3 for my web galleries (one of the main reasons I upgraded), and will have to continue to use LR2 for this.
Can we please have a comment from Adobe, to tell us where we're all going wrong, or a promise of an early fix?

It is a bug and I hope the bug should be fixed in the next release.
The longer term fix may rely on tokens, but I feel the better place to look is the Edit Watermarks dialog. At the moment you can choose Text or Graphic, but not a metadata field that's varied with each image.
The other day I had a need similar to Alan's, but in Export. I had images from multiple photographers, and while Simple Copyright Watermark works in Export it was useless in my case because the client wanted the watermark in the top right. I therefore had to create one watermark preset per photographer, and run one export per photographer. I did look into doing this by a plug-in but (a) Export requires links to a preset (b) you can't create watermark presets on the fly (c) text file edits to an existing watermark preset aren't picked up by LR without a restart.
Giving Edit Watermarks the option to pick up a metadata field would resolve more than the Web problem, and Simple Copyright Watermark could then be retired.

I have two TouchPads, both have Android installed on them.
I booted the 16gb one back into webOS, and you are right - it won't play.
The other, using Android ICS as it's OS was able to pull up some of the DJ's, and I was able to listen to shows.
I suggest you check out the "Android on the TouchPad" section of webosnation.com to consider loading Android onto your device. Officially, we can't support this option here on HP's forum, so all liability will be yours if you choose this option.

Has anyone experienced problems with their airport express since yosemite?

Since updating to Yosemite, I am constantly having issues with my Airport Express. It flashes yellow, indicating no connection. I have attempted to:
Soft Reset: Unplug it (Airport Express) and plug in again
Factory Reset: Unplug it, push & hold the reset button with a paper clip while pulling it back in.
A Tip From Another Site: Unplug our Time Capsule we use as a router & the Airport Express, wait 3 minutes - then plug in the Time Capsule, wait another minute - then plug in Airport Express. This worked for a very short amount of time, then the light started flashing yellow again.
Again, I had no problems before updating to Yosemite.
I look forward to & appreciate any help resolving this issue.

The new AirPort Extreme needs the 6.x version of AirPort Utility, which comes packed in with Lion 10.7.5 or Mountain Lion 10.8.x......or......you can also configure the device using an iPhone or iPad running a recent iOS.
From Apple's Specifications:
Setup and Administration
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later and AirPort Utility 1.3
Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and AirPort Utility 6.3
A few options.....
Borrow another Mac running Lion or Mountain Lion for 10-15 minutes and set it up. The Mac running 10.5.8 will be able to connect to the wireless....but it will not be able to make any changes to the configuration of the Extreme.
Update to Lion or Mountain Lion.....but check first to make sure that your Mac will support the operating system first.
Use....or borrow an iPhone or iPad to set up the Extreme

I have an older Airport Express, would it help to install it? would it work best if it was installed in the same room? should it be installed half way in between? Get another Extreme? The Mac Book Pro on the middle floor can see 11 networks in the neighbourhood if that might be causing a problem or would if I installed the Express. Thank for your consideration.

I appologize for the font and colour, I compossed the question in pages and failed to notice the font colour as grey ... there are a variety of computers of various ages so I think it is using a setting that allows both 5G and 2.4 ... the connection to the Airport is thru a cable modem and cable does run throuhout the house ... maybe those hard wires would be a place to look at ... do you think that putting the 'Express' on the second floor might help ... thanks again ...
