I'm importing more than 1800 photos, and it got stuck with 382 photos left to be imported. How can I finish the import completely?

What version of iPhoto?
Are these photos different in any way? Black and White, for instance?

Have you tried stopping the movie and trying to start it again.
Unfortunately you cannot re-download rentals. If the problem continues, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History.

Install the excellent 'Search Everything' utility and enter 'extreme' as a search term. Note that when you first run 'Everything' it takes time to index your drive(s). After that though it is a nearly instantaneous start.

Did you take a look at the new feature Apple - iOS 8 - Family Sharing ?
Apple - iCloud - Family Sharing
Up to now, songs bought from iTunes could only be played by the Apple ID that has been used to buy them.
If you set up Family Sharing, your daughter can also play your songs and use the same contact info as before.
If you don't want to do that, sync the contact info to the address book on your computer, and sync the info back, using iTunes:
Sync your iPhone, iPad and iPod with iTunes using USB
If the iPad already has her Apple ID and contact info on it, restore the phone from the latest iPad backup.

Orange and green flashing is unfortunately a failure indication.

Did you also empty the trash can? If you did not empty the trash, then likely mail moved the messages to the trash folder on GMAIL.

Bluetooth file transfer has never been supported with iOS devices.

When viewing the photo's (in the Photo App on iOS) a tab bar to change picture will appear at the bottom, one of the buttons is a trash can and simply press that. The tab will dissapear after a while of viewing the picture so if it is not there then tap anywhere on the picture for it to come up.

I received a PDF doc with jpeg photos within it. How can I move photos to iPhoto??

Here's how to get a pdf file or any file into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
1 - open the file in any application that will open it.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3 - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
Note: If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of each page of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto.

I am a US citizen in school in Montreal and I was given a US Apple Store gift card. How can I buy the new iPad using my gift card and with a school discount?

I am a grad student from NYC and at a university in Montreal. I was given a 500$ gift card as a gift to put towards a new ipad. BUT, I apparently cannot use the US gift card in Canada. So, what do I do? I have no time to head back to NYC to get it. I want to order it, but not sure they will ship to montreal...? And was thinking of sending it back to my parents and then have them buy it and mail it to me, but I I think them having to pay tax on this is ridiculous. On top of that, I should be able to garner the ed discount but I dont think the US recognizes Canadian schools in their system and visa versa. SO if I do buy it in the US, I can use my gift card but I can't get the discount. Or if I buy it here in MTL, I can get the discount but I cannot use the gift card..
Can anyone suggest a solution? all bright ideas welcome.

You can only use a gift card in the country it was issued in - no way around that as the Apple Store does NOT offer currency exchange with gift cards.
Nor can you order from the USA online store and ship to any address outside of the USA - again, no way around that as the online stores do NOT ship internationally.
You could send the gift card back to someone in the USA, to use to purchase your item for you, and then once they receive it, they could ship it to you. Canada customs will hold it until they collect any import fees and taxes levied on imported consumer electronics though.
Either that or buy it in Canada with the discount, and use the card later when you get home again.

My import takes days to complete..... How can I tune the import????

I have several Peoplesoft CIS tables that I need to refresh to my dev/tst/wrk environments. Some of tables have millions of records. I can't take a subset of the data because the Peoplesoft CIS applications doesn't quite use relations properly.
I export the tables.....
Mark the indexes unusable in the env to be refreshed
Truncate the tables in the env to be refreshed
Then start my import.....
This is where the problem starts... The export takes an hour and 45 min, where the import took 3 days and still didn't complete. The total size of the dump is 17,638,070 KB.
Please help, or is there a better way....

Then start my import.....1)Import with rows=n indexes=n constraints=n
2)Import with ignore=y indexes=n constraints=y or create the indexfile for indexes and create the indexes with parallel nologging.
3)use Large buffer and commit=n
