I'm in need of a variable that I can use to display total time spent in a course.
I'm attempting to create a custom certificate of completion that a learner can print at the end of a course.
I'd like to have the total time spent in the course displayed on it but am not sure about the variable to use.

I was hoping for a quick solution to have the elapsed time appear only on a printable certificate of completion.
Unfortunately, this goes beyond my limited knowledge and experience in using variables. (Admittedly, I'm not a frequent Captivate user)

How to set variables that queries can use?(10g)
I am using only ONE TABLE here for all queries. I have one query which pulls out a key and seven other queries that create seven different report sections based on that key. All queries access data in the same table.
The first query ahould set a key so the other seven can use that key to get data. The key changes everytime all seven queries get executed and a report page is displayed, then the queries use the new key until all keys generated by the first query are used.
Questions?
How do I get the seven queries to check that key. Can you have (declare) variables in Reports Builder that you can assign a value in every iteration and then include a check (for that value)in a where clause of other queries? If yes how would I do that?
In a programming language this is simple, you pass the same value as a parameter to several functions... Can you do something similar here and set a value that all queries can check against? Like a local or global variable.

Other pages all look the same. Data from each query is based on the key on the first line and so on.
Example:

and so on. Each query puills a set of values or sums a set of values.... etc.
(please note that what I have not included is that somehow we need to relate each query with the key)

Are you talking about the English dictionary? Mine seems to work ok on the AZ republic web page. Does yours not work on all webpages? Does it not work when you type an English word in Notes and then do select and define? -

It should work, provided you are on the same page.
The c:set tag creates the variable in pageScope by default.
If you forward to another JSP you need to set the scope to be "request" so that it is still available. -

As Winston Churchill wrote, however you might want to do a factory reset on the Apple TV.
This way all information pertaining to your daughter will be removed from the device. Specifically if see was sign into any of the streaming service, Netflix, Hulu, etc. her credentials will still be associated with this Apple TV, doing a factory reset will remove all that and make it as if you purchased the device and just plugged it in.

iWeb is not working for sending podcasts to iTunes, so I need a new web building tool. What is the closest thing to iWeb that I can use, which also supports podcasts?
There's no reason you can't go on using iWeb for this - with iWeb '08 you have to publish to a local folder (i.e. on your Mac) and then upload the contents of the folder (not the folder itself) to your hosting service: and you have to make sure you enter the new URL in the Publish information or the feed won't work properly; this done, an iWeb podcast should work fine.
Of course there is still the problem that iWeb is not supported and sooner or later a system upgrade may break it. You could look at RapidWeaver: you can make podcasts with that, though the last time I looked into that - which was admittedly some time back - I didn't feel it was ideal for this. There are lots of other podcast creation programs or services around. WordPress is OK but it may be a bit of a steep learning curve: Libsyn is an online service that seems to work reliably. Blogger writes messy feeds but does usually work. Podcast Maker used to work well - I used it myself a few years back - but it rather looks as if it's gone moribund and it may not be reliable with Lion/Mountain Lion, so you would want to check into that. -

how do I switch between windows in the same programme? I know that I can use Command tab, however this takes you through all of the programmes that I'm using. What I need to do is have a shortcut to switch between windows in the same programme. For example if I'm in Excel and have 5 windows open I want to be able to scroll between each window of Excel only with a shortcut.

This functionality currently is not built into National Instruments software. You can get the device number, but not the slot numbers programmatically.

You can save your form as a submission-enabled PDF form, send the PDF form to your clients and ask them not to submit the data using the submit button in the form but send you the PDF form after they fill it out. "Save Submission-Enabled PDF" button can be found in the Distribute tab of the form.

How to set up my elderly parent with Mac so that I can use remote access to help her?
I want to set my elderly mother up with a new Mac mini so that I can use remote access to show her how use email, browse the internet, share photos. (She lives in KY, I live in OR)
She has had an iPhone and an iPad for about 6 months and she can barely use them without becoming frustrated. I want to be able to see her screen with her and show her how to do things.
My plan is to set her up with a Mac mini and I'll use my MacBookAir to remote into her system. I'm buying the mini to configure and then I'll mail it to her.
My question is whether to try to use Back to My Mac or Teamviewer for remote access
I have broadband with comcast and she has broadband with Access Cable. Each have their company modem/routers--neither of us have Airport Express.
I have my own iCloud account and she has her own. If I use Back to My Mac, it seems that I would need to set up a separate account on my Mac that would sync to her iCloud account.
Teamviewer seems easier because I don't have to use a separate account. Any advice? Anything that I'm not thinking about?As Linc says, you can establish a Screen Sharing session via iMessage and Facetime. The advantage of these 2 approaches is that once your Mom gets used to using them, she will be more comfortable using them to communicate with you. I've talked to my Mom via iChat (aka iMessage) more since she learned to use them, then in all the years before that (including when I was a child ). And just being able to see your Mom via Facetime can be useful when you want to gage how she is doing.
However, if you are any distance from your Mom, they you want backup methods incase something goes wrong.
So beside iMessage/Facetime, the next best would be Back-to-My-Mac via iCloud, however, you will want to establish her Mac as using your account so that you have the right to take control remotely.
An alternative that does not mix up your iCloud acounts would be to use TeamViewer.com (which has an unattended mode so you can do off-hour maintenance when your Mom is not around; or check up on her to find out if she is dating - Turns out if I had been paying attention, I would not have been blind-sided by my Mom getting Married again last Summer - she is in her 80's! ).
LogMeIn.com, as dwb says, can be used the same was as TeamViewer.com
Both LogMeIn.com and TeamViewer.com are very good at making it easy to get through the home router and if you are having any problems connecting using other Methods, TeamViewer.com or LogMeIn.com will most likely not have any issues.
Back-to-My-Mac allows screen sharing and file sharing so you can transfer files as well as control the screen.
Screen Sharing via Messages allows cooperative file transfer. That is to say, you can try pushing a file to your Mom, but she has to accept each transfer.
TeamViewer.com has an unattended file transfer mode.
LogMeIn.com requires the paid version to transfer files. However, there are other ways to transfer files, such as downloading them from the original source on your Mom's system while using screen sharing, using Dropbox (or similar), emailing them, etc...
Of course if you are really network savvy, you can roll your own via ssh tunnels, port forwarding routers, getting dynamic DNS names, transferring files via scp, or tunneling AFP file sharing, tunneling your screen sharing sessions. Lots of fun and excitement playing with terminal commands -
