I'm just so sick of MobileMe.

I'm trying to share a gallery on MobileMe. I copy the link and send it. They click the link. They are then asked to sign into MobileMe.
This wasn't happening yesterday. It worked just fine and opened it up for them.
Any suggestions?

I should have been more detailed.
I'm using on image on my iWeb site to link to a MobileMe Gallery. The link wasn't working right today. It worked yesterday.
And now it's working again.
This isn't good for business.

  • My personal domain just links to my MobileMe, not my published site - any ideas?

I set up a personal domain via dreamhost to use for me MobileMe hostest iWeb site. I have published my website, and when I click "visit site" it takes me there, but to the web.me.com/blablahblah address. When I navigate to my domain address, it asks me for my mobile me username and password instead of taking me to the public site. When I enter those anyway, it just loads up me MobileMe homepage.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    SR

Have you carried out both stages of setting up Personal Domain? -
    1. At your ISP, change the CNAME to web.me.com
    2. At http://me.com/account , click Personal Domain in the sidebar and enter the domain name without the www.
It sounds as if you have omitted step 2. I'm assuming you haven't passwprd-protected your web site. Note that domain.com may work and www.domain.com not work, or vice versa, depending on how your domain name provider works.

  • Just wondering: new.improved MobileMe also improving iWeb sites??

    Greetings,
Just got off MacWorld: seems that Apple has beefed up MobileMe in several ways.
As i use iWeb (and I am actually fond of it!) and publish to MM via my MM subscription, I do now wonder if finally iWeb created sites might come up faster, especially in other browsers than Safari; I do notice that FFox brings such sites well enough, but as all know, Internet Explorer "chokes" a bit on iWeb created sites. Perhaps too early to tell is improvement took place for iWeb sites along with MM stuff (Gallery, Mail, etc...)
    - Roger T

It is possible that when I tried Safari4 out yesterday, the Apple servers were busy implementing the changes to MM. So it is possible that the me.sites now load faster too. But the essential trouble with iWeb3 is still continuing. The images that belong to the different posts in my weblog are placed wrongly in the rss feed whenever I add a new post. Sometimes it even mixes up the images in the blog's main index page on my desktop.
For now what I saw in Safari4 is bling. The Top Sites feature is nothing but a fancy menu bar with favourite sites which I already had. The Develop menu shows that many Apple sites have lots of mistakes in them (yellow triangles and red circles list the mistakes - turn on the develop menu option in preferences to have a look). Actually I don't use Safari that much, though it is the only browser that shows the shadows I added to some images on my sites.
Safari still misses the add-ons I need (like Rikaichan, a Japanese dictionary) etc.
Since the arrival of Safari4 people are busy trying to get back some of the old options of S3. So Apple has steamed along without asking the customers, again.

  • HT5129 I already have the pictures in those albums on my iPhoto and want to just get rid of MobileMe gallery.  What to do?

How do I NOT migrate existing albums to my iPhoto library?
I just want to get rid of Mobile Me Gallery?

iCloud is not available in Snow Leopard 10.6.x. You need OS X Lion or Mt Lion to gain access to iCloud.

  • Just moved from DotMac/MobileMe to iCloud

and it is worse than I expected. I only use the mail part of MM and I've LOST the 2 most important features of the email:
I can no longer retrieve my mail from iCloud using my GMail account
So I have no way to get mail sent to my @mac.com address except by using my iPhone.
More importantly, I've LOST my @mac.com outgoing email address even though I specifically used that address for the transition
Now any messages I send will have a freakingly inane @me.com, which I NEVER asked for or wanted.
More and more, I'm becoming convinced that Apple doesn't want my business after 28 years of being a loyal customer.
I'll have to see what email subscriptions are set to the @mac.com address and change them to a NON-Apple related address. Then I will turn off iCloud Mail on my iDevices.
If anyone knows how to get iCloud email to be checked/retrieved by GMail, please let me know. Supposedly you can set the mail up to be forwarded, but I can't find out how to do this using my iPad/iPhone. Anyone know how to do it?

Yes, I read it but he didn't tell me anything that:
    1. I had NOT ALREADY tried
    2. I CANNOT do because of hardware limitations.
Taking his points one at a time:
    A. Logging into http://www.icloud.com/
    1. I can't do that on my desktop computers because NONE have Lion because NONE have a Core2Duo processor. IIRC, my web browsers can run on Lion but when run on pre-Lion OS, it doesn't work.
    2. I have tried to log in on my iPad but I ONLY get the THREE (3) options I listed in my reply.
    B. My @mac.com address not working for OUTGOING email
    1. When i write an email message on my iPad/ iPhone, it is sent with the From and/or Reply headers set to @ME.COM, not @mac.com. I specifically mentioned this in my reply. I also specifically mentioned in BOTH posts that I HAD used @mac.com when moving from MobileMe to iCloud.
    C. Update iCloud server settings
    1. This is WHAT I'm trying to do. But I can't find a way to do this via my iPad/iPhone; it seems to require going to http://www.icloud.com/  (See A above)
    D. Setting up forwarding
    1. AGAIN, that requires going to http://www.icloud.com/. (See A above)
So I'll ask each question again
    1. How do I setup forwarding of iCloud email using my iPad/iPhone?
    2. How do I, using my iPad/ iPhone, setup my OUTGOING iCloud email to use @MAC.COM in the From and Reply To headers?
    3. This is new. Can I use a Public Access computer a my local Public Library to go to http://www.icloud.com/?

  • Is it just me or is MobileMe simply not delivering a reliable service?

iPhone/.Mac/Mac are not syncing as sweetly as the Apple propaganda assured me they would. I appreciate they have admitted it isn't quite a 'push' service and have explained a small delay is to be expected. After a full day of adding diary dates onto my iPhone, I come home to find my mac with the same vacant expression as a teenager at 7am in the morning. Changing a contact on iPhone doesn't register on my Mac at all and forcing a sync has recently thrown up a complete load of rubbish about not being a .mac subscriber.
I'm finding the service woefully poor and the lack of support (email support for MobileMe not running, telephone only to U.S. at U.S. times) very frustrating.
I hope they sort it out before my 'extra free month's worth of subscription' runs out or I'll... stamp my feet and gnash my teeth at no one in particular because the nearest Apple employees are 120 miles away in London selling more iPhones that don't work.
    Am I alone?

I think it might be sorted. Check that you follow the steps from the apple blog. I have a list of things that happened to me this evening posted here from when I started to check if they have it fixed. It works well for me now but I had to navigate between the two calendars where I had one before. It now does work.

  • Is it just me that wants MobileMe back?

Do others find iCloud overly complicated and full of features you really don't want.  I just want me email, calendars and contacts to work.  iCloud is slow and hit and miss at getting mail.  iPhone and iPad often say 'checking for mail' for what seems like hours - probably minutes.  I don't want to see the pages I have open on one device from another.  I don't want photos sent - most are rubbish.  If I want a photo I will mail it.  I don't want music in a cloud.  Lets not forget we live in the UK with the worst 3G coverage in Europe.  Above all I want reliability.  I have been an Apple man for years and have enjoyed faultless upgrades, great software and quality.  Now I have Microsoft revisited.  Releases full of issues and more and more poor design.  Things used to just work and your instinctively knew how to use them.  I get lost now and things do not work.  I never had cause for 'forced quit'.  Now I use it every week.  I need to know if it's just me.  I really don't think it is and that just worries me.

  • Just getting sick to death with Safari

Nower days I am getting crash after crash.
I cannot goto www.pcworld.co.uk It crashes
I cannot view my bill on BT.com as it crashes.
There seems to be more and more things I cannot goto because they crash.
The way I see it, Safari may well be the most web compliant. But there are so many sites not compliant that its more important a browser is robust.
Safari is no longer robust, its a ***** in a bug mans world.

This one is for pcworld, loads fine in camino

  • I have just found an unused mobileme code.  Am I too late to get a refund?

Subject says it all really.  I'm guessing I'm too late but would be interested to find out most of the Aple links are now dead.

I have an idea that there was an expiry date for the procedure to get a refund. As you say, all the relevant help pages have been removed. Your best bet would ring the Apple Online Store (number at the bottom of this page) and ask about it.

  • Just started MobileMe.  Struggled with the setup of iCal but eventually got everything working fine for about a day.  Then I started receiving an iCal error message stating that the URL was wrong.  Of course, sync no longer works.  What is correct URL?

Just signed up for MobileMe.  Had a little difficulty setting up iCal but eventually got everything working.  Whether posting to iCal on my Mac Book or iPhone, sync seemed to be working fine for about a day.  Then suddenly when I opened iCal on my Mac Book, I would receive the following iCal error message:
"The calendar https://cal.me.com/calendar/calendar/principals/users/1.1117025442/ was not found on the server. Make sure the URL is correct."  I know where it is located but because I did not enter the URL when I set up MobileMe/iCal, I don't know what the correct URL should be.

  • Photoalbum indexpage with square photos like the old mobileme gallery?

I would like to get a photo gallery made in iWeb with an indexpage just like the old "MobileMe Gallery" with the square picture container´s - I made a lot of special frontpictures - one for each album only to fit the square form. And I liked it! At first it was annoying when it always seemed to cut half the heads of or the wheels from my bikepict´s but then I adjusted as described and made all those beautiful firstpict´s!
Now all different "theme´s" index pages are equipped with rectangular picture container´s. And options to change that are not active.
    Can anyone help me to...
...change the rectangular picture on the index page to a square one?
...find a skin or another web gallery program with square photo containers?
It would really make my day if I could get all my albums up and out again!
    Tina

For starters, here's a MobileMe Gallery Widget alternative.
In the past it linked to the MMe Gallery, now it links to a photoalbum on my NAS :

See if you can use it for your future gallery.

  • Icons disappear in MobileMe gallery?

    Hi all,
Here's a little strangeness! I upgraded to latest iPhoto, have the latest Leopard, brand new MacBook Pro 17, etc.
Sometimes I put movies (professionally made from Final Cut Pro) in iPhoto and bring them into a MobleMe gallery. Very easy, convenient way to post approvals for clients, etc. This has always worked well. Email the link to client, they click and see QT movie. Voila!
All of a sudden, I'll post 2 or 3 movies to a new MobileMe gallery - they look fine, the link works well - they look fine on the internet - EXCEPT THEN, MAGICALLY - they'll disappear from the Mobileme gallery page in iPhoto!!! The page is blank!
The movies are still on the website they were sent to - but the "design" page in iPhoto shows nothing is there?? This just started happening - perhaps it's coincidental with my upgrading to 8.02 in iPhoto? Anyone else have this issue . . . all am I all by myself out here Lonely feeling! So I trashed the iPhoto prefs, repaired disk permissions, rebuilt entire library, restarted - and started over making a brand new mobileme gallery page with 4 movies. Again, they finished publishing, perfect on the web and **** - did it again - the icons just disappeared from the mobileme gallery page. (But they're still on the web.)
    Anybody have any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Larry

Thank you, Old Toad! You've helped me before. Actually I did rebuild the library - my first post I believe I mentioned all that. But - look at this, Apple answered me. They are able to recreate the same problem there, so it looks like, I guess, I've found a real live BUG. Hard for me to believe thousands of others aren't running into the same issue. I've never actually used iMove before, as we always use Final Cut. But, here's what Apple just wrote me this morning . . .
    Larry
    Dear Larry,
Thank you, the description you posted in Discussions clarified the issue, please note though that the "page" you took a picture of is not a page but is the main window of iPhoto itself, and with the description I had before I was merely looking at your Gallery itself on the web at http://gallery.me.com/larrycohen3 which all looks just fine.
Following your description though I easily recreated the behavior in multiple test MobileMe accounts with iPhoto 8.0.2, and we appreciate your taking the time to bring this behavior to Apple's attention.
I've provided the details of your report to the MobileMe Engineering team. As always, the Engineering team appreciates feedback as part of its efforts to resolve issues and improve the MobileMe experience. Apple won't contact you again about this issue unless we have questions about the information you provided.
While the engineers explore possible solutions to this issue in iPhoto 8, as a workaround use the Gallery management tools on the web to manage your published albums that include movies in them after publishing. To access this page on the MobileMe site:
    1. Open Safari or Firefox and visit www.me.com and log in.
    2. Click the Gallery button at the top of the page, it looks like a sunflower.
    3. View and manage your albums on the resulting page. The direct link is:
    http://www.me.com/gallery
Thank you again for bringing this to Apple's attention and we apologize for any inconvenience it may cause.
If you need assistance with a different MobileMe issue in the future, please visit our website to find answers to common questions, and if necessary, submit a question to Apple by filling out the web form at this site, live chat support experts will be happy to assist at any time:

  • IWeb does not recognize new mobileme gallery pics

I recently tried to update an iWeb site with a new slideshow from my MobileMe Gallery. I tried the MobileMe widget in iWeb. In the drop down menu that comes up with that widget, the new site does not appear! All other sites are there, but not the new one. When I look in my Gallery, it is there. What could be happening? I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. Could that be the problem?

i opened a thread here about a month ago on the same thing. I used mobileme chat, and they said it was an iweb problem and to call applecare. seems like this is a real bug. The way to get around it is easy though, see http://web.me.com/studiosphoenix/Altf4/Photo_Galleries.html
Those all used to be widgets, but are now just pointers to the mobileme content. All the widgets have broken - almost one by one - over the past several months on all my sites:(

  • Sync Itouch to MobileMe

I am trying to sync my Itouch to MobileMe so I can view my daughters pictures. When I try to log in - I get a message saying my Itouch is not qualified for free MobileMe service. Does this mean I have to be a paid subscriber, or am I missing something.

If she has a mobileme gallery, then you do not need to log into anything. You just go to her mobileme gallery on Safari. It is just a web page, like any other.
She just needs to send you the link/address to the page.

  • MobileMe/Iphone Contact Info Gone!!!  Out the blue...

I use MobileMe Push service as my primary email ([email protected]). When I unlocked my iPhone a few minutes ago and went to "Recent" calls, no names were there...only a list of phone numbers. When I go to "contacts", same thing: all the info is GONE except the name. *** just happened?? Has anyone else experienced this??
I still have my Macbook with all of the original contact info and I also have Time Machine backups, but when I power up tonight, I don't want the "cloud" to overwrite the Macbook and remove all my contact info!!
I have no clue as to what's going on. Any suggestions??

Well..my original post was at 11-something this morning, Eastern time. It's 7:15 now ...and still..no luck. I'm relieved it's not just me however. That said, I just turned "off" MobileMe Contacts on the phone and did a manual sync via Itunes and ..viola...all contacts are back, but still...this *****.
The problems is actually worse now. Before, at least my contacts were on the phone, just w/o the additional info (phone number, address, etc.). Now, when I turn MobileMe Contacts "on", ...absolutely nothing happens. I logged in to me.com and all my contact info is there, 100%. Nothing is getting pushed to the phone. Oddly enough, the other apps (mail, calendar, etc.) seem to be working fine.
I think I'll just go w/o MobileMe Contacts for a day or two until Apple can sort this out...
