I'm locked out of iTunes

I have put in the wrong username on iTunes on my pc. I am now locked out. iTunes said they were sending me an email but I don't know whet they've sent it. Does anyone know where it may be? Please help as I'm not very good with computers!!!

The email would go to whatever email you have listed with iTunes and your Apple ID.

    You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
    They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Why is my Mac locked out of iTunes Match?

    I spent the $25 to purchase iTunes Match on my family's shared media iTunes account and the day the service went live. I then set it up with our Mac Mini, the computer that serves as our family's media system. The iTunes account in question is relatively new, only a few months old. Prior to that, my wife and I were using our individual personal iTunes account to purchase apps and media. It wasn't until I realized we were going to need an account we could all share that I decided to create a family account. The Friday after Thanksgiving, I wanted to show my kids "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" while the adults continued their after dinner discussions. A year ago, I bought that television program from iTunes on my personal account and knew that I could now download it through iTunes. But when I switched over to that account to download it, the computer automatically become un-"associated" with my shared account account and "associated" itself with the old account. And now, I cannot use the account that was used to set up iTunes Match, on the computer for which Match was purchased in the first place. As of right now, I apparently cannot re-connect that machine to Match for another ninety days, which is nearly one quarter of the year for which I purchased the Match service.
    I find it troubling that Apple is punishing me for accessing media I have purchased in the past by locking me out of a service for which I have paid. Both accounts are associated with my name, both accounts are associated with the same credit card information, the only thing that differs is that they associated with different email addresses. This all seems very esoteric and not very customer service oriented, and this is coming from an owner of numerous OS X and iOS devices. This is an issue that is going to come up more and more for Apple's customers as more people buy in to the iTunes/iOS/OS X ecosystem and try to make the best possible use and sense out of it all. My attempt to get resolution to my problem through Apple Support was met with a very flowery, "tough ****," from a customer support representative. Neither the choice, nor the response are suitable. What efforts, if any, are being made to try to make this more workable for people like me, trying to make the best decisions while moving ahead in the iTunes ecosystem?
    Is there a fix for this, or am I just going to have to eat it and not use the service I bought, on the computer for which I bought it, for a quarter of the time I paid for?

    I did contact them. I put in a ticket immediately after discovering that I was locked out. I asked for help or in lieu of that, a refund. Two days later a customer support representative contacted me via email to offer nothing in the way of help and to tell me that a refund was not an option per the iTunes EULA.
    I am very disappointed by how this has been handled thus far. iTunes Match seemed like a wonderful service, but being punished for reasons that are entirely unclear, has really soured my opinions about it.

    Unless you previously set up a rescue email address, you need to wait. If you're desperate enough, create a new Apple ID; you won't be able to transfer purchases or iTunes Store credit between them.

    Since upgrading to iOS8 iTunes no longer recognizes my iPhone5 when I connect to SYNC or BACKUP my iPhone5.  Thus, these features are no longer available.  When I click on the DEVICES tab, the window is dim, and will therefore not allow me to SYNC or BACKUP my iPhone5 on my iMac.  I use iTune 11.4 and iOS8.

    After the first install of iOS8 my iPhone5 locked up with a picture of a cord connected to a device linking to iTunes.  After taking my iPhone5 to the Apple Store, an Expert was able to get my phone operational again.  However, when I returned home I found I no longer had options in iTunes to SYNC or BACKUP my iPhone5.  I suspect that ITunes does not recognize my IPhone any longer.  For the past 1.5 years I have no problems updating or syncing my iPhone…it was only after I upgraded to iOS8 last week.

    HI,
    This is my first iMac and I've never experienced this problem on my older pc's before. I have set up my itunes and signed in to associate my account with the mac. My partner died last year and I still have to use their account to access some of our joint itunes purchases. I have signed in with their account and downloaded the necessary files. only to find that when I want to continue and use my own account, it now says I have to wait 90 days? these purchases should be accessable... can someone please help, as it is putting me off the idea of completely moving to Mac in the future.

    Yes, I am having this problem because I have 2 Apple IDs/iTunes accounts.  Mind you, I don't want 2 accounts but Apple forced me to make a new apple ID when they started requiring email addresses as user ID.  This was the first big mistake that Apple made.  Their second mistake was not allowing people to simply merge these accounts.  Had they not made these mistakes initially, many people would still only have one Apple account/ID. Some bloke ought to lose his job over that. 
    However, I understand this isn't the same problem as having multiple household members using the same computer.  It seems that Apple could figure this all out by either authorizing multiple users at the time of purchase, or allowing a handful of users to download to one computer. After all, if I bought a hard copy of a music CD, I could certainly allow my son or daughter to listen to it or download it to their computer.  Next thing you know, I'll have to sign a release saying that I am the only person that uses my iPod.
    I am also returning not just one but 2 brand new Mac computers ($4500 coming back from Apple to my wallet) because I am so fed up with the poor customer service response that Apple has given this problem.  Not only did they take a ton of my money for iTUnes songs, but then they restricted my access to those songs. I think it's criminal and I wouldn't be surprised if this issue ended up as a class action wrongdoing suit.  I have to admit I've considered talking to a lawyer about it myself.  I am so sick of large monopolizing companies thinking that they can treat their customers poorly and expect us to sit back and take it. The good news is that this is a free country and I can choose to throw my money at any old company I choose..........Toshiba here I come.

    I was using safari, was looking at a site, a message came up in the middle of the screen telling me "someone in my city wants to be my f...kbuddy". I tried to exit... locked on the site. Turned off the iPad.... turned it back on - site still locked in. Eventually I pressed OK..... then later went to update some Apps. The Apps store then told me I cant as "my account is not valid in the US store". I went into my account..... it was showing UK store (I am in Australia). I changed that ... but I still get the same message when i go into Apps. Can anyone help... I am about to leave Australia for US in a days time and need my iPad to be working.

    iTunes will run on any Windows PC satisfying its minimum system requirements:
    1Ghz Intel or AMD processor
    512MB RAM (though in practice much more is preferable - with Win 7 or Win 8 a minimum of 4GB)
    Windows XP SP3, Vista, 7, 8 (with the 64-bit installer required for the 64-bit editions of the last three)
    400MB available disk space (again, much more than this is a realistic requirement - even a moderately sized iTunes library can use several hundred GB of disk space for media storage, and libraries in excess of 2TB are not unusual)
    There is no issue of "hp and apple does not have any contracts with each other"!
    There is, however, some anecdotal evidence that the scripts on the Apple site (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) that are supposed to detect the version of Windows you are running may fail for some users - jumping straight to the "Thank you for downloading ..." page with the installer not having been downloaded.  As an alternative, you can go directly to the relevant downloads:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe

    We have 2 users on our computer. I tunes works on my sons side but ofcourse it doesn't work on mine.

    "The folder 'iTunes' is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder"

    If you are going to share the "iTunes Music" folder, it should be located in the "Users" > "Shared" folder.
    You would then both be able to share the same iTunes library.

    I understand that you were having issues with the passcode on your iPad and were unable to restore from iTunes as outlined in the referring article. I just wanted to check to see if you were doing the Restore as a standard Restore, or as a Restore from Recovery Mode, as outlined below in HT1212:
    Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
    Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
    While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
    iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.
