I'm looking for a dual input voltage Laptop / Notebook?

Do you know of any laptop or notebook which has INPUT AC 100 - 240 50/60Hz, please?

I think all of the power bricks can handle 120-240V and output the needed DC voltage for the laptop.
You might need a plug converter so they'll fit into foreign outlets but they should be able to handle the voltage once plugged it.

  • Looking for advice in purchasing a laptop

I'm in the market for a laptop for my own personal at home use....emails, surfing, photos and music.  I was at Best Buy the other day and was interested an HP laptop (model DV 7-1025) but apparently this model is no longer in stock anywhere.  In looking online now, I'm wondering if theHP laptop with Intel processor (Model DV7-1285x) is comparable and will fit my needs?  Or does someone have a better suggestion?
    Thanks!

this is a really high end computer. comes with 6gb ram awesome for multitasking
hp and toshiba are best choices for music. hp comes with altec lensing speakers and toshiba comes with harman kardon speakers. they have the best sound quality for laptops
500gb allows you to store a lot of music files and photos and u won't have to worry about filling it up because that can store up to 100,000 music files
the intel centrino2 p8600 is one of the highest end processor u can get with a PC computer.
the 9600gt graphics a llows u ot watch videos without slowing down because they have their own dedicated memory, it won't take up ur system memory at all.
this laptop may be a little over kill but definitely guarantees power and speed, and won't be out dated for another 4 years.

  • Looking for some advice on which laptop to get Air or a Pro.

Casual photographer looking to get back into editing. Most usage will be word processing, spreadsheets and surfing the web.Of course like the new Retina but concerned about not being able to upgrade the internal components and will the Air have the horsepower needed.

will the Air have the horsepower needed.
I do many demanding tasks on my Air and they run surprisingly well.
    My Air is a 2011 1.7ghz 4gb intel3000 so with the 8GB ram(recommended)/intel 4000, 2012 model should be siginficantly better.
concerned about not being able to upgrade the internal components
I took this advice from some other people on here and I think it is sensible.
Something I do is buy the base models* and just upgrade the whole laptop sooner. Rather than get it BTO and try to use it till it dies.
*the 8GB RAM I would still go for though

No. That's wrong. Whatever website you're looking at is out of date. I wouldn't suggest people run AE on less than 16 GB of RAM...
Anyway, you're not asking about After Effects!
For Photoshop, 8 GB is recommended. It will run on 4, but...8 is recommended. See this page: System requirements | Photoshop
Same with InDesign: System requirements | InDesign
Illustrator, on the other hand, runs just fine with 4 GB: System requirements | Illustrator
Any other system requirements can be found here: System requirements | Creative Cloud

  • Looking for a recommendation of a laptop mouse.

Thinking about using a mouse, either USB or wireless, on my iBook G4.
It would have to be small, ideally to use while the iBook is on my lap. Maybe on the flat surface just to the right of the trackpad.
Any recommendations? And I do have bluetooth.

Things like the Targus Bluetooth® Laser Mouse for Mac® come to mind. There are also small travel mice with retractable USB cables. An example is the Belkin Retractable Travel Mouse.

  • New Build - Looking for Tips

So I have purchased the components listed in my Sig and getting ready to set everything up, just wanting to get some tips/advice on the best way to go about it.
My biggest question is concerning RAID, as this is the first time I have set one up. Any tips, guides, etc. on how best to accomplish this on my MB is appreciated. I am wanting to end up with a 1TB RAID 1+0 (4 500GB drives paired up, both pairs RAID 1, then one pair RAID 0 of the other pair). Am I correct in assuming it is best to plug only 2 in (SATA 1&2) setup the RAID 1 on those, then plug the other 2 in (SATA 3&4) and set those up as RAID 1, then tie everything together as with RAID 0? Or can I plug them all in and do it all at once? The instructions look fairly straight forward, just looking for some clarity and actual user input.
Do I need to update my BIOS? I haven't tried booting at all, so not sure what I am starting with, but I notice in the CPU compatibility the same CPU I have lists Version 10.4. Should I stick with what I have and only upgrade if I am having issues, or should I upgrade from the start.
I have a SATA Blu-Ray burner, and have seen a few things mentioning a SATA ODD coming up under RAID configurations. Is this an issue, is there a certain SATA port I should use to avoid this, certain settings I need to pay attention to, or does it matter?
Regarding memory, I read (in a sticky) that fewer memory sticks result in faster performance due to Dual Channels. I was under the impression that if all 4 slots were filled you would have 2 groups, each using Dual Channel. Am I incorrect in that? If faster performance (MHz-wise) is achieved by only using 2 sticks, will I get better overall results by removing 2 sticks (leaving only 4GB) or will the additional memory compensate for the speed loss? (The RAM is rated as being Dual Channel, if that makes a difference).
Does anyone have any general computer building tips? I have built a number of them before, but would like some input on the best/most efficient/fewest problems way is. All previous builds have been done with default configurations, if anyone has suggestions for some settings that they recommend those are welcome. I will be over-clocking at some point, depending on how things go and if there is any advantage to doing so from the start or waiting until the system is setup. I did notice this MB has a OC center as well as the Easy OC Switch. Any input or thoughts on those?
To sum it up, I am looking for as much input on getting everything set up as easily as possible, with the best settings without requiring a lot of adjustments. Any and all input is appreciated!

Windows rating is rather silly, it's not the sum of the system but rather the slowest part that gives you this rating.
Yeah, I agree with the silliness of Windows final rating, however I do like to use the individual ratings as a sort of benchmark. The issue isn't the final rating, it the rating I am receiving for my processor, which is 4.1, and is the lowest rating on there.
    From memory -
    Processor - 4.1
    RAM - 4.9
    Graphics - 7.4
    Gaming - 7.1
    HD - 5.9
As a comparison, another computer with a 2.2GHz quad core processor, 4GB RAM, and single drive rates as follows:
    Processor - 6.9
    RAM - 7.2
    Graphics - 4.8
    Gaming - 6.1
    HD - 5.9
With the components I have vs the comparison computer, I would expect CPU, RAM, and HD to all be higher, but they are lower or the same! So something somewhere is not right in my opinion.
    Thanks for any feedback!

  • Looking for a motherboard

I'm looking for a dual socket LGA2011-V3 that'll work with the Intel 1600 series
Does anyone have any good recommendations?

I think I answered this question (or one close to it) in one of your other threads but the P35 Neo is not very expensive, takes most mainstream CPUs and OCs OK.
I didn't know whether to answer this or not since you started the other thread about AMD.
Since your primary goal is simply gathering info to build a new rig try your best to keep all of your questions in a single thread instead of jumping all over the forum every time you have a new question about something.

  • PC guy look for iMac w/ FCE info

I have been researching FCE/HD on the 'net and spent the afternoon at the local Mac store playing with 24" iMac and iMovie & iDVD (they did not have a machine with FCE/HD on display) This was the first time I had ever touched a Mac. I have most of my questions answered but am looking for some unbiased input on three iMac options. Specifically I am trying to decide if cost is justified on the following three options:
    1) 2.16Ghz v 2.33Ghz processor speed; $250 difference
    2) 1gb v 2gb memory; $175 difference
    3) 128mb v 256mb video card; $125 difference
I already have a house full of PCs so I will be adding the iMac to my collection and my intent is to have it used solely for video editing/authoring.
thanks for any advice you can give.
    T

    1) ... I wouldn't care for 200MHz more...
    2) ... more is better..
    3) ... has a Mac a video card...? , as said above, for gamers ...
    but...:
you need lotsof harddrive space.. add as much as you can afford.. probably, an external, firewire connected one offers a better price/GB ratio... BEFORE usage, use Apple's DiskUtility to format to "MacOsExtended".. to avoid any trouble..
.. and if you like to 'waste' some money, add this to your FCE workstation:
    Contour ShuttleXPress
    50$ in the apple.store ... adds that "pro"-feeling ...

No, you don't need to install a software update for Lion if you are now running Mountain Lion.

  • Looking for dual wireless rechargeable headphone system with dual docks

I'm looking for a pretty specific product, and was wondering if anyone knows of a product that'll fit the bill.
I want a wireless dual headphone system with a charging dock for each headset. Transmitter should accept line level signal from dual RCA plugs. I'd prefer a 900mhz transmitter, but IR is acceptable. Either the system should come with two headsets or it should be a system with a transmitter/headset with the option to add a charging dock and an additional heaset.
My old system was a Sony which is on its last legs, and I found a replacement from another manufacturer with dual headsets but it lacks charging docks - you have to plug the heaset into the transmitter and both heasets can't be charged at once. Also, the manufacturer says not to charge a headset for more than 24 hours or you can damage the battery.
Anyone know if Sony or someone else makes what I want?

    Hi Verne,
Sony does not have manufacture dual Wireless Headphones. You can perform an Internet search and check for any third party dual headphones.

you have to manipulate and add escape sequences somethin like "D:\\myfolder\\subfolder\\" or "D:/myfolder/subfolder/"Hi Panky,

  • Looking for input on how Aperture rates when compared to Adobe Photoshop

Hi i am kind of new to Mac and have not bought any good photo editing programs yet i am looking for someone that has used both aperture and photoshop to help me make my decision on which one to buy. any input would help. thanks in advance

as RB said before, *you can't compare photoshop and aperture*. not in functionality and not in price.
actually: *you really need both*. there is no way around photoshop. most of your image processing can be done with aperture (or lightroom), however there will always be some photos that require the extra ps power, layers, etc... for retouching, blending etc.
    compare:
you should compare +apple aperture with adobe lightroom+ for your image management and raw conversion - and - +photoshop cs3 with photoshop elements+ for image editing.
most here prefer aperture, however this is a question of personal preference. i have both on my machine, and while i like the improvements in adobe lightroom 2, i personally stick with aperture (i prefer the workflow and user interface of aperture).
