I'm Losing Email

I keep losing emails. Mail 2.1.1 on iMac (intel). Everytime I come back to my computer, I lose the latest email except the ones earilier than November 29th 2006. They're there at one point and then they are gone. All that remains are the last couple days but then a big blank for the previous two weeks or month. This has happened several times.

What type of account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?

    Hope someone can help! My inbox on my Macbook is losing emails. It seems that there is some sort of quota set for the size of the inbox, and it is automatically removing older messages as new ones come in. Yesterday I had 158 messages, today it is down to 148. I have checked all account settings and cannot see anywhere I can change the settings for the inbox, only for sent items and trash. As I run part of my business from this laptop, its a bit of a problem! I need to find the stream of emails which have been removed, but even searching for them by name in spotlight has not come up with anything, at the moment it has cleared all messages that are over 7 days old. The same account down loads to our desktop which is not losing the emails?? 

    I have the exact same problem, older emails are disappearing.
    I then have to log on to my bigpond mail to find them.
    They are all there still.
    I dont understand, why are they all in my bigpond mail server, but not in my mail on my macbook pro ?

    I am losing emails that I have read, but want to keep for a while after only 2 weeks in one of my email accounts. My other email accounts do not lose them for a year or more. How do I stop this from happening?  It is in my Ipad.

    It should be above delete account.  If not don't worry different mail providers are different. The most important thing is that just because they auto-delete from your iPad they are still in your email account. Also the search field in mailboxes works whether the email is on your iPad  or on your server.

    I keep losing emails from my inbox on my iPad.. They seem to disappear on a daily basis. I have an account set up on my iPad, iPhone 4 and iMac. Would that effect the mails on the iPad? Every time I go and check my emails they have just disappeared and I have to check the mails on either my phone or the iMac.. it is sooo frustrating!

    I have had this same issue for about a month.  I have checked every setting on every device but still lose emails randomly.  I use an iPhone 4s, an iPad, and a Dell laptop.  I have them all synced with outlook and everything was working fine in the beginning.  Howevr as of late, I go to refernce emails on my iPhone only to find it missing.  Whe it is missing from iPhone, it is also missing from iPad.  BUT it is still on my laptop.
    This has become very frustrating for me because booting up my laptop to reference an email from yesterday that I actually read on my iPhone takes a looonggg tiimme.
    Please let me know which "settings" I am overlooking because I am getting a bad opinion of Apple.

    Ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I've been losing my emails and even browsed webpages.  Everytime I restarted or boot up my MacPro, I would lose almost two days of emails and web browsing/bookmarks.  Does anyone have this problem?  Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

    Bah simple answer, for some reason upgrading changed the balance option in system preferences.  Fixed that and all is well

  • IPod touch losing email

    I synced my iPod touch with MacMail 4.6 on my iMac running 10.6.8.  A few of my incoming email messages bypass MacMail and show up only on my iPod touch, so I'm missing important mail at my desk.  How can I reset either MacMail or iPod so all incoming mail shows up in my INBOX?

    To keep from losing purchases you will both need to continue sharing the Apple ID for purchases.
    I would reccommend you both create new Apple IDs for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime and keep the current one to share purchases in the iTunes & App Stores.

  • IPhone Mail App Closes while sending an email - losing email

    I am getting very frustrated with my iPhone closing the Mail application right after I initiate the send command for an email. Usually this occurs after I have typed in a long email --- it is lost and I have to re-type it in! There is no warning as it begins to show the progress bar, closes, and returns to the main screen. Most emails are sent without any issue, though it seems that it is the longer ones (typed and/or larger attachments 200k+). This happened before and after the OS update (1.1.4). This is occuring on a 8GB iPhone, synching with a Thinkpad T60 running XP Pro SP2.
    Any thoughts???

    You may want to try some basic troubleshooting on your phone:
    Try resetting your iPhone. To reset the iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time until you see the Apple logo.
    If that doesn't work, then try to reset all settings. To reset settings, Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Note: This will reset all settings. No data or media will be deleted.
    If that still doesn't work, you can try restoring the iPhone using iTunes. To restore, connect the iPhone to your computer. When it appears in the Source list, click on Restore in the Summary tab. Note: This will delete all media and data. All settings will be reset as well. If possible, sync iPhone with iTunes before restoring to back up your most recent settings.

  • Losing emails in mail after upgrading to mavericks

    I recently upgraded to Mavericks OS.  Now, when I move email messages from my other accounts into my icloud account (to sync on my phone), some of them are disappearing.  I cannot search them in any folder... they seem to simply be gone... not even in my trash.  Any ideas??

    Hi. I don't really did anything. As stated, I restarted and rebooted a few times and it started to work fine. Not sure what caused it or solved it other than that...

    Archiving your older emails would be a good solution. It will free up space in your inbox and other folders.

  • Losing emails from In-box on the 9000 Bold

    I am having annoying problems with the 9000 Bold with emails received in the In-box. Once emails are received and read they remain were they should put only for a couple of hours. 
    I go back to the In-box to read new and find the previous email(s) have disappeared completely. I use O2 UK internet service to push the emails to the handset. I have asked my IT consultant to resolve this problem were after several days of investigation and spending time on the work bench he recommended I change the handset for new which was done today. This is my third handset in as many months. I reconfigured the handset to all settings and asked the handset to keep messages for 3 months in the general options menu. I was extremely disappointed that the problem has not been resolved. The first handset I had some 10 months ago never did this, I had to this exchanged due to the ear speaker failure.
    Can any help before I have nervous breakdown. 

    If the mail in question is on iCloud or on another server accessed by IMAP, that is expected behavior. The server is the master location for the mail, and the devices (including the Mac) just show and control what is on the server. (The devices may also maintain locally cached copies of messages for use when offline.)
    If the mail in question is on a server that supports both IMAP and POP access, the iPhone may be accessing it by POP and the Mac and iPad by IMAP.

  • Losing emails!

    Hi!
    Over the last two weeks my curve has been deleting my received emails after about 24 hours. They are not being deleted from the server though. Recieved messages prior to a fortnight ago are still on my phone. I have had this curve for a year now and never had this issue before. I have not changed any of my settings either. Have tried rebooting by taking out the battery but that has not sorted the issue
    Any ideas please?

    Before Going for a Clean relaod of your device Software please Do you Backup first.Then perform a Clean Reload Of your Device Software.
