I'm Moving and I need a Mac Box!
I'm moving and I'm taking my iMac DV on a plane, (It's the old kind from 1999) and I need to know how to get a box and packaging for it. Anybody have any ideas? does anyone sell boxes like that? I hope this is in the right forum...

I think air travel for your iMac is rather risky and you should use ground shipping in my opinion. Reguardless make shure to insure it.
In getting a box I have no problem because we have a local box and shipping company that is willing to help the average consumer. They are independent of their services so you use any shipper if you so desire. You may need to check for local area for them. (For the life of me, I cannot remember the trade names of some of those companies (Post Offices Boxes -N- More?))

You can usually get those from the original grey installer discs that came with your Mac without bothering with Pacifist. Look for an 'installed bundled software' or similarly named item on one of those discs, generally the #1 disc. Run that & the original versions of those apps that were bundled with your Mac will be installed. Software Update will let you know if there is an update you can download for them (but of course that won't include an upgrade to a more recent major version, which you would have to buy separately). -
PPro CS5 will not open now that 5.5 is installed and I need it (Mac)
I installed premiere pro 5.5 and now the previous version 5.0.4 will not open on my Mac.
What I really need is the title templates and title font style presets I created in the CS5 version, but I can't find the location to import those. They don't appear to be in /Adobe Premiere Pro CS5/Presets/Templates or /Styles, just the standard ones.
Where are the user created styles and templates (ones that get customized in premiere not photoshop or anything like that)?
Why can't I open ppro cs5 anymore?I'm not sure how it works on a Mac, but on Windows, styles are saved to a file called "workingset.prsl" unless you specifically create a new style library. You could try searching for that file, and then copy it into the similar path for CS5.5.

Moving and editing slideshow between MACs
I'd like to move an existing (uncompleted) slideshow from an iMac to a Mac Book Pro and complete the project on-site (a wedding reception). What is the best technique to complete this without messing with the hours of work that have gone into the project thus far??
There's only one way to do it: Move the Library that contains the slideshow.
A Slideshow is really an instruction in the iPhoto database: "Show me Photo A for 5 seconds then cross fade to Photo B over 3 seconds and show me for 5 seconds etc etc etc"
The only way to move the slideshow +in an editable form+ is to move the database - and that database is the Library.

Instead of getting a wireless card for the Mac Pro, you might want to consider getting an 802.11ac wireless bridge device that would enable you to connect more than one device to it by Ethernet cable and to eventually take advantage of the faster 802.11ac wireless standard.

How do I watch my iTunes movies, tv shows on my mac without having to download them all to my HD? I really want my Mac to function like my Apple TV since I have just moved and don't have my TV for another few weeks. Since I purchased my three Apple TV. I have had no need to download any of my movies to my Mac. Which has been great. However, I remember that I used to now have to do this... or did I? I am just frustrated because I want to stream all this stuff vice haveing to waiting for it all to download fill up my Mac's HD and then just delete. Someone help please?

The Mid 2011 Mac mini supports 8 GB of memory officially, but you can install up to 16 GB of RAM, so you can use 2, 4 and 8 GB modules. You can buy more RAM from OWC or Crucial.

I have an iPhone 4S and never had a problem with syncing it. But suddenly, when I connected my phone to my mac, it says that its in recovery mode, and I need to restore it in order to sync. I've updated both my phone and my itunes, and it didnt work.Help?

No, it does not. It transfers purchases from the iDevice to the computer. The computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that the content was acquired with.

My Mac refuses to open certain pages e.g. google/facebook for a weird reason "Your flash player may be out of date and you need to update it", but my flash player is up to date. I tried to install a new flash player version "setup.exe" but it said the file cannot be opened because the application is not supported on MAC OS X, does anyone have same problem? please help.

Anyone know which render format I should use, my film will be used on a video wall (12 screens) and I need super quality. My footage format is 1080p HD resolution 1920x1080. I will be running the project from a mac with a direct line to video wall. Thanks in advance.
I do some VJ-type work, involving playback of QuickTime files from the computer to projections, and I get good results using ProRes 422. That's convenient, because ProRes 422 is such a great editing codec, too.
Traditionally, VJs use PhotoJPEG codec, which also works well, but it's a bad editing codec. So you would have to export an edited master, then convert.
If you want it to look as good as possible, definitely schedule some time to test the footage on the wall. You may want to change the color correction of your footage to match the projectors. And if you feed the video wall some flat gray, you can see if any of the projectors need to be adjusted.
I'm not sure what application you're using for playback, but QuickTime Player 7 works well. It has an option to play fullscreen on an external monitor (View > Present Movie…). -
my wife and i both have an itunes library installed on to our separate pc's, we are now de-commissioning the pc's and are moving over to a single mac mini, can we install both libraries on to the mac mini and run them as separate libraries?

Generally YES.
It's possible to hold separate iTunes library's on a single machine.
Generate two new folders inside the Music folder of the Mini and name them differently; e.g. man and woman.
Copy your whole library into "man" and your wifes into "woman"
Go to sharing in the system settings of the Mini and share the Music folder in your network.
After copying the whole library's to the Mini you may point iTunes to the new location at startup by holding the option key (alt) at the keyboard.
iTunes will then ask you where the library is located.
Point it to the matching library on the Mini.
That's all.

PS ... If you both use only the Mini you have to setup a user account for each and just copy the whole library to the Music folder in particular.

i buy a mac mini from amazon, and it is registered on another Apple ID, and i need to change it to mine, how can i do that, note that i can't contact the previous owner of this mac, what shall i do to set it under my Apple ID.

You need to wipe the hard disk and reinstall the OS by booting into the recovery partition and reinstall the original OS via the internet. It will ask you to enter your ID

There are known technical issues with any older version on Yosemite, even CS6. Some can be worked out, others may not be relevant to you, some will remain unsolved.
