I'm new in MacBook Air

please help! I can't download the newer version of software mac os c 10.7 in MacBook Air 2011?

Hello,
OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is the newest upgrade.
Launch App Store. Sign in, if not already.
Buy OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, pay $20, download the software and follow the prompts to install it.
Whole process will take a while. That depends on the speed of the Internet connection.
Before that backup the computer and Repair Disk.
Repair Disk

There is no Info tab in Mavericks
if you use OS X v.10.8.5 or earlier. If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.

Next time you want to put your iMac screen to sleep, try switching off the Magic Mouse, wait for the notification to come up on the screen telling you the Magic Mouse has been disconnected, wait for it to disappear then press the keyboard shortcut to put the screen to sleep. See if that helps and we'll go from there. If that doesn't help, can you just say wether the screen always turns back on the same time every time?
    Hope that helps

  • If you get a new 2013 macbook air does the laptop come with os x mountain lion?

I have a new 2013 MacBook Air and i was wondering if my laptop came with OS X Mountain Lion????

It should. To check click the Apple logo in the menu bar (top left) and select "About This Mac"
If the OS X version shows 10.8 then you have Mountain Lion.
If you don't have the Mac yet then the new one you buy will have Mountain Lion on it.

Has anyone experienced the Endless Boot loop syndrome on the new 2011 MacBook Air?
Mine is the 13" 4/128 model.

Am I the first one on earth?
    Please help, Apple world!

It's not a hard core gaming rig, but it plays all the FPS games I like, quite well. It handles hi-def video, just fine. I use it for Photoshop, and it is quite fast. For web browsing, it has no equal. The 2010 maxed out 11" would do it all, except for some hi-def video (1080P), which it would stutter. But my new 2011 maxed 13", is perfect for video (1080P=no problem).
I really don't think a MBP will give you as much, on a daily basis. It (the MBP) has only a few advantages, and except for the built in optical drive (which you can still go external, if need be), none of the advantages you will miss even slightly.
I think the MBP would only serve me, if it spent most of the time deskbound, but I would still need an SSD. Once you have had an SSD, you can't go back. Then, you would have a really pricey MBP.

New (3mo) macbook air screen goes black and sometimes won't come back on after I unplug it from the power cord.  Any ideas why it is doing this? Sometimes I have to hold power button for 10 seconds for it to shut off then back on. Sometimes holding the power button for a second is enough for it to come back on.

I took it to the Genius Bar, and they identified it as a hardware issue. Just got it back today. Parts replaced were:
620-5629 Display Module — Symptom: Distored/blurred/focus video issue
605-3284 Top Case with Keyboard — Symptom: specific key(s) do not work
So far so good. I'd suggest taking it in and not trying to work around it — it's a rare hardware issue (given the number of threads about it) and should be replaced.

  • New 11" MacBook Air and U-shaped spacebar key?

I just received my new 11" MacBook Air and today I noticed that the spacebar is kind of warped.   The two ends are raised a little higher than the average key and the middle of the spacebar is lower.   Is this common? (for those of you with new 11" Air models.)
    -John

Visited the Apple Store.  Turns out the key was fine.  The metal stabilizer bar under the key was bent, and the key is so thin and flexible it bent with it.
The Genius popped the key off (no small feat, they have a lot of snaps and parts under there) and straightened the bars out.  Now it's perfect.
    =)

  • How can I get my new 2012 Macbook Air to recognize my LG usb optical drive

I am attempting to install software on my new MacBook Air 13", with my LG Portable Super Multi Drive. It works perfectly on my MacBook Pro, and other macs, but when I plug it into the USB port of my new MacBook Air, it spins, acts like it wants to load the disk, but it doesn't !
Any thoughts on how I can get this to work?
    Thanks,
    Steve

For it to show on the desktop check on Finders menubar.  Finder > Preferences > General > check CDs DVDs and iPods.  Do the Same in the sidebar tab if desired.

  • How do I restore from a 1tb time machine backup to a new 500mb MacBook Air?

I plan to replace the dead 1tb iMac with a 500mb MacBook Air plus external hard disk.
While I wait for my new machine to arrive I can't look at my backups, but will it be simply a case of removing substantial folders of data fom a backup in order to create a backup of the appropriate size?

I did this by using a second external hard drive because I knew I'd never pare down my 2GB of data to a 256GB MBA SSD. But you may be able to do it without the second drive.
Without a second drive: this may work depending on your circumstances. When you migrate you can select individual accounts and folders but your choice to migrate applications is all or none. So if you can select individual folders and your apps (and I assume you want to migrate your applications) and get it to fit you are fine. Make sure you select your Library folder no matter what. Once you've migrated you can delete additional files and some applications you don't want/need and you can always come back later with TimeMachine to restore selected files and folders.
With a second hard drive that is large enough to hold everything on your iMac: connect TM and the second drive and restore to the second external drive. Now go through the restored external drive and delete files and applications you don't need on the computer. When finished reboot the computer in Recovery mode and restore the computer using the external drive as your source.

  • I want to buy a new laptop so my question is should i buy the new 2013 macbook air 13in or wait for the next model (june 2014) ?

This will be my first mac laptop, so my question if i am goin to miss a huge jump in the specifications for the next year release or not ?

We know there will eventually be a new MacBook Air (though the terms of use here prohibt speculation about it). We have no idea when it will come out or what it's specs will be. Retired Engineer's advice is exactly the same as mine. If you need a computer now, buy it. It is a powerful computer and except for the fact there's no 2TB SSD available (not that I could afford it if one existed) it could be my one and only computer. If you merely want a new computer, wait until you need one.

  • When i first time switch on my new laptop macbook air i had french keyboard

when i first time turn on my new macbook air i wrote my new passport. i wrote on qwerty keyboard but when i changed langues on french, i need writing everytime on "imagine french keyboard" but when i changed again langues ENGLISH this stay same...
in my pasport is letter " m" but if i writing i need push " .etc... where i can change this?
    thx

Yes. The external drive containing the files should also be attached to your computer, of course. As you are new to Mac the external volumes , when mounted will show up as an icon on the Desktop on the right hand side (under the Macintosh HD icon). You can double click that and a Finder window will open for you to browse the files contained. Leave that open to one side and have iTunes open just beside it. You can now drag the files from the external and drop them onto the Device of your choice as it appears in the iTunes side bar. The Device name (for example "So & so's iPod" will get a blueish window around it; a small green circle with a "+" sign will appear letting you know that all operation can be completed. Drop away! The files will go to the correct categorization in the iPod: audio to songs; videos to movies; podcasts to podcasts and so on.
Go ahead and give it a try.
