I'm new using Logic, i've been using garageband for quite awhile now though but my question is just basic. When i want to record electric guitar while clicking the software option it brings me to alot of guitar sounds that i want to chose. I chose the twangy electric or the distorted strat but i only hear clean sounds. No matter what kind of guitar sound i chose in the library it only produces clean guitar. How can i make it sound like it supposed to? Did i miss something i should do?

This definitely has me stumped as I'm unsure as to why your guitar can be heard, but with none of the channel strips plugins applied to the sound.
On the record enabled channel strip that contains your guitar input, is the "I" button located near the "R" active? Also, if you record your guitar, can you hear the FX applied to it when you play back the recorded track?

You'll need to connect the iPad to a computer running iTunes. Then update through that.

What is the difference between POP & IMAP mail settings? Is one better to use than the other and why exactly?
And is there a cheat sheet for setting up email accounts for use in Apple Mail 4.2?

POP handles mail by downloading it from the server and then deleting the mail from the server once downloaded. It's not much good if you need to check mail from multiple devices, but keeps the load on the server low if you are given only a small amount of disk space on the server.
IMAP handles mail by downloading it for viewing, but leaving the mail on the server. This is great if you ever want to view your mail from another computer, an iPhone, a Blackberry, etc. However, since the mail sits on the server, you can run out of space.
As to setting up the e-mail, you just need to get the relevant information (POP or IMAP server, SMTP server, ports (if necessary), etc) from your e-mail provider and enter them in the fields in the account setup "wizard".

Am I just wasting my time here? Is there some reason why an older Mac Pro will not do what the newer one will, with regard to iTunes?
My older laptop is a 2.6 GHz Core Duo; it has 36 GB of "memory available." The newer one a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7. It has 284 GB of memory available.

Can you use logic express on a mac mini for recording

Can i use logic exprees on a mac mini for recording? Ive seen alot of 8,12, and 16 track recorders with a cd burner and it seems like a logical and more productive gues for me to buy a macmini for the same thing of recording and then I can uses logic express, a far better program for recording. can the mac mini handle the load of processing tracks and how much ram should I uses? thanks tim

In Final Cut Pro I was trying to move an Event Library from one hard drive to another as explained in the Help section. After doing so, I received a message that my event is already open with the same identifier as the new one I just created on the new disk. It says the second document cannot be opened and to move one of these documents out of your Final Cut Events folder. It also says to avoid this problem, copy events from within Final Cut Pro, but that is what I did in the first place. What should I do to avoid the double opening conflict?

If you want to sync it to the iPad from that Mac, you need to upgrade it to at least 10.5.8.
If you want to copy the music to another Mac, you don't. Move the iTunes folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar over as you would any other folder. If you put it somewhere other than the Music folder, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and point it to that location.

- While charging try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next try restoring the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if still problem restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
- However, I really think that the iPod has a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. If defective Apple should give you a refurbished iPod.
