I'm not being given new Duke Dollars
Hey all,
I read through the FAQs and they say I'm supposed to get 10 Duke Dollars each month as long as I login at least once a month. I've been logging in and helping others with the little bit of knowledge I have (I'm still a beginner).. but I'm not getting any new Duke Dollars..
Is anyone else having the same problem?

newbie!I never answer questions based on dukes. I don't believe most people do either. So it shouldn't matter.
And even as a newbie it might be possible for you to answer some questions.

Fast Ring - Not Being Given Option for Build 1049
Hi,
I have 1041 installed via windows update. Trying to pull 1049 from Windows Update but Win Update says "your machine is up to date".
Any ideas what to do to get 1049?Well had a very eventful time trying to get the one machine I've left on 10 Preview to rebuild. Worked OK the first time, took around an hour to install 1041 from ISO via USB on a UEFI machine (XPS 13 2343), updated to 1049 then a few hours later
after running OK locked up, forced a restart with the power key held down and got "no boot devices". Six reinstall attempts using the same ISO on USB later still getting the same problem... left it over night, did it again today and all working
fine this time. I have no idea what happened!

After reading your 2nd last post, I decided to try again, the 3rd time.
I am on dual boot setup. So, I remove the Win10TP volume > clean installed 10041 into the Win10TP partition> upgraded back to 10049.
At first, nothing worked.
Start Menu, Cortana, and system tray icons all failed to open. About 2 or 3 reboots afterwards ( which took like eternity ), Start Menu , Cortana and system tray icons all began to work.
Spartan was not present in taskbar, but that's not a problem. It can be found in All apps, and I pinned it back to taskbar. Spartan initially did not work. It opened but nothing else happened. I left it alone and a few hours later, I opened it,
and Bing search opened up and contents that were supposed to be there did show up. It's working fine now.
In short, everything is working and no system freeze. That's 1 day ago. System's still A-OK. -
HT1918 The credit on my account is not being used for purchases
I have redeemed two cards and am not being given the option of using the credit on my account from the cards purchased. I do not want to use a credit card at all. Why is Itunes so inefficient? How can I use the credit?

The "Roman" font is not being recognized in Firefox 4.0. As such, I cannot read any previously posted topics or post any new topics on websites using this font.
I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6. -
How can I activate an old version of Photoshop that I've loaded on my new tablet? The web activation doesn't work, and when I call the number, it says it's not being used anymore. Meanwhile, I'm down to 13 days till it stops working due to not being activated. HELP? I really need to continue using this product for my home business.It works fine not activated but the threat is that it will stop working in 13 more days if I don't get it activated, and none of the activation methods they list seem to work.

I have been editing a document on my MacBook Pro and iPad, which has the newer versions of Pages. Now, I cannot open on My MacBook. It says I need a newer version of OS. However, I'm not showing a newer version being availabe!!! Can anyone help???
That is Pages for iPad v2.0, which Pages '09 v4.3 can't read.
You need to either stick with the older version of Pages on the iPad or get Pages 5 for the Mac which is only available if you are running OSX 10.9 Mavericks.
Unfortunately that is not the end of your woes because Apple has made iCloud convert the files to Pages 5 now, and Pages 5 has over 90 features deleted on top of doing a shocking job of converting older Pages files.

Resolved!
After contacting Apple, I received a reply from their engineers:
Copy QTMovieWin.dll from: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
And that did the trick.

New Zen Touch not being detected by Windows
I just bought a 20 gig Zen Touch off ebay, and tried to get it to run.
The firmware on the Zen tells me it's version 2..0, which is the PlaysForSure version. So, I downloaded the driver specific to PlaysForSure, and tried to run it. It looked like it installed just fine, but when I plug in the player, it just recognizes it (at the start) as Creative Zen Touch, and opens up the Found New Hardware wizard. So, I don't think it recognizes my Zen.
This, of course, leads to all the programs not being able to recognize my Zen, either, and to me not being able to reload the firmware (just in case), or anything of the sort. Not really sure how to proceed, and I've been scanning the help files, which have been no help. The knowledge database seems to suggest that Windows XP will just load the proper drivers, which, of course, it doesn't.
How do I proceed? I thought this would be the answer, but it presumes that Windows will detect the device as an MTP, and somehow just find the right driver, which it doesn't.
I'm at a bit of a loss as to where I go from here. The drivers aren't installing, and the closest I can get is my Device Manager showing the Creative Zen with a big yellow question mark next to it, because the drivers aren't installed properly.
Help?Try downloading and installing the latest drivers, Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03.
Also try running a disk cleanup from rescue mode. -
my ipod touch 4g is not being recognised on my new toshiba laptop or itunes. Its not being shown on my computer and its not shown as 'unspecified' in the 'devices window'. The ipod touch starts charging then stops this keeps continuing like a ongoing circle. Please help.
I have tried on my family members laptop and its seems to be picking up. So the ipod or the usb wire is not the issue.
I have tried everything from reinstalling itunes and updating windows.
I have tried the diagnostics test and its still says the ipod cannot be found.See

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Email messages from my personal email account are being posted (copied) to SMS messages. I have a new cell device (swtched from Droid to iPhone) and this is happening on the new device also. The copy/forward to SMS is NOT being initiated by my email provider, and not by Gmail. How do I end ûVerizon's forwarding my personal email to SMS?

I have certain emails that are forwarded to me as SMS but that is an option that is enabled on the email side of things and is independent from Verizon. -
my new macbook pro is giving me hardtime. even apple team is not being to solve it. they replace the motherboard first it didn't work. second time they formatted the computer and that also didn't work. every time my mac showing different problems.
At first my computer had issues. Once it go to sleep it will not back again. I dropped my laptop at apple store to fix it. After 10 days they returned my laptop saying they were no able to fix the problem so they replaced motherboard aiming if that might help. Acttually that didn't help.I had same issue again. I visited apple store again. This time they said they could fix, if I will allow them to format the harddrive. I said ok. They formatted it. It was working fine for few daysAfter few days compter is taking.even more than 15 min to shutdown. Now computer has another problem. It is being hang frequently like every 20'to.30 min.
I don't know what to do? I still have one month left on first year warranty. I have requested couple times to apple associates either to fix or replace or refund. They are showing me rude behavior. They are not understanding my situation. I am a student. I need to do lot of home work. Since last three month my mac book and apple associates giving me hard time. Since time is running short, be prepared to purchase AppleCare to exennd your warranty 2 more years. Yes, you shouldn't have to do this, but it gives you added protection and more opportunities over the next 2 years to claim a replacement computer if you don't get one immediately. After dealing with a similar unhappy situation with a Mac in the late 1990s I finally got a replacement computer and reimbursed for the AppleCare policy. -
New Seagate 1TB external hard drive is not being selected by MacBook Pro
My new Seagate 1TB external HD is not being identified by the MacBook Pro (10.7.5 Mac OSX). Whereas the same being recognized by a WIN8 OS based PC. I need a format wherby the external HD should be recognised by both Mac OS and Win.

Pls note my system is being run on safe mode, as there is a problem in the left shif key. Hence, while booting, it is automatically being shifted to the safe mode. I need to format the external HD, so that I can transfer to store my data.If you want the drive to be able to both read and write on OS X and a Windows machine, you should format the drive as exFAT on the Windows machine. As to why the drive is not recognized when you boot into Safe Mode, that may be because the drive is formatted for another OS and it MAY BE that it's disabled when you run in Safe Mode (which disables a long list of things: see -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564?viewlocale=en_US).
If you format it as exFAT on the Windows machine, you MAY BE able to have it mount on your Mac. No guarantees, though.
