I'm not crazy. I don't think I am.
This is not a joke. Recently, two of my macs (dual G5) and another imac have the same issue.
When the screen goes to sleep and I move the mouse to awake it I see what looks like a moose or reindeer take a green poop and run off the side of the screen.
Once he's gone it dissapears and I am back to normal. Other than being bothered by a moose pooping on my screen.
What is it?
Mike

Minor Fan Noise (not typical, I don't think)
Have a new 13" macbook pro (june '09). The noise I'm hearing is not the typical HD "beep" noises or high pitched whines or any of that. It's a very subtle noise, seemingly from the fans. It sounds like a clock ticking at a faster rate. There's no vibration to the laptop or anything. I tried using compressed air at the exhaust but nothing. Help?
Hi there, I have the exact same model and this is exactly how I would describe the sound made by my Pro. I think it is actually giving me tinnitus.
It seems silly mentioning it as the level of sound is so low but it really does cut through me like a knife. In my case I would say that the noise is emanating from the far left side of the body, near the escape key. It is so subtle that the angle of my head affects to a large degree my perception of the sound. But once you notice it you become obsessed by it.
I also started telling myself that it has always made this sound but I honestly don't think I would have lasted 3 months with it were that the case.
I assumed it was the processor but I have no idea where that would be within the casing of the macbook so don't know if that is likely or not.
Does is the fast ticking clock sound constant or intermittent in your case? Mine is intermittent but the gaps in the ticking are brief, less than a second. -
Just so you don't think I'm crazy....
Somebody please explain this to me. I just sent my pc using sister two new paypal buttons to try (created a test page on my site).....she said THEY WORK!
So please can you all look and see why these work:
http://web.mac.com/karenhetzer/iWeb/Site%20Fancy/testing.html
but the ones on the muralclassestogo page don't...I told you I wouldn't give up ...lol...there has to be an explanation.
http://www.karenhetzer.comOK....good morning all .....just heard back from my sister and yes, when using the .mac address for muralclassestogo, all the buttons worked fine.
Its still going to drive me crazy as to why this has become a problem after several weeks of no trouble...but....the big question.... NOW WHAT DO I DO?
Do I go back to the instructions the Paypal guy gave?
This error in this case is caused by the use of
Framing or URL Masking on your webpage. When our
logos are used in a Frame or Masked, the PayPal URL
is not displayed, nor is the security lock displayed
in the browser. This can also cause Run Time errors
for most browsers if using JavaScript on the web site
as well as time out issue when used with payment
buttons. To resolve this issue you will need to have
the PayPal page open unmasked or outside the Frame.
One way to do this is by adding target="paypal" in
the request built in HTML code.
Will adding target="paypal" after the word 'area' do the trick. I have to tell you I tried it with just one of the buttons on the muralclassestogo page, and it didn't work. Do they all have to be changed in order for that big block of purple code to work, or is that not the answer? Or maybe I placed target="paypal" wrong (I left a space between words at each end, should there have been no space between 'area' and 'target' and "paypal" and whatever the next word was).
I can't use that long .mac address as my website address, people can remember karenhetzer.com....don't think they'll remember the longer mac version.
Are we sure it isn't some setting I may have changed on my computer?
I think there was a recent Firefox update (on my computer) would that have affected anything?
OH, and those blasted idisk icons are on my folders again, and I can't open them...whats that about?!
WHAT WOULD YOU DO?? -
My Mac Pro all of a sudden would not turn on. It beebs 3 times, pauses, and then does it again. I don't think I have downloaded anything recently and I don't know what to do!
3 beeps usually means a Ram problem, have you added or removed Ram recently?
And I will assume that you do not have a Mac Pro, but that you have a portable, a MacBook Pro. -
I bought a movie on iTunes and when it loads up I can only play the bonus features and not the actual film. The title screen is also glitched and merges with the scene selection. I don't think it downloaded properly. what can I do?
It happens sometimes. Delete the current copies, don't hide from iTunes in the cloud if prompted, close iTunes, reopen, download from iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
While downloading click the download icon at the top right and uncheck Enable simultaneous downloads. You may find it more reliable that way.

I have misplaced my ipod 4th gen. It has no battery or find my ipod isn't on I'm not 100% it doesn't have wifi but I don't think it does. If anyone can help I will be very great full. Thank you.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

I haven't used my IMac in a long time and went to boot it up, and I find I don't remember the correct username and password (I use several computers..I try to keep the passwords similar, with a number for the chronological order in which I started using them) I've tried all the others I use for passwords. The 'hint" keeps coming up for the password I am pretty sure is the correct one, but, still cannot get in. I also don't remember whether I changed my surname on the computer...it was changed legally a little while ago, but some of my older devices still have my birth-name in there)
HELP
I don't think I ever set up a "master password" on the thing...I never use those. I am the only person with access to my personal devices.

When I try to download applications such as Internet Explorer, Yugma, and iTunes in Firefox, I just get a window that says "save" or "cancel", but never one that says "run" so I don't think it's actually installing anything. It shows up in a "download" window, then the icon shows up on my desktop. When I click on it to launch it, it says "open with" and I get the same "save/cancel" window. It's a continuous circle. What am I doing wrong??

Because of how integrated it is with windows IE should work. If it's not working, something more widespread could be wrong with your computer that would also prevent other browsers from working properly. Of course we'd love you to stick with Firefox, but you should get help with IE, too. -

If it's a debit card that you are trying to use then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined
If it's a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ? If it is then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes support and see if they know why it's being declined : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page -
Hi guys.
I've had my MacBook Pro for 2 years now. Last night it suddenly kept glitching to a dark grey screen every now and then, then it would flash yellow / blue spots, and now it won't go past the grey screen even when I reboot it.
I don't think I can access my disk anymore as I've moved across countries since I've first gotten my laptop. it was working perfectly fine before it kept going to the dark grey screen with a little blue on the bottom.
If it helps, my camera light is still on, and it seems that my computer is working properly itself, but won't go past this grey screen.
I'm a college student and am really panicking about this - can anyone please tell me what to do?
Thank you & sorry for the long post. What operating system are you running on it? (iOS 5.1 is for iPhone, iPad...not a Mac).

I have restored my new replacement iPhone from my latest iCloud back up. However my camera roll pictures are not displaying. Its not saying I don't have any pictures in my camera roll, it has all the spaces for them, but it just shows empty white squares? How do I get my pictures back? Thanks!
It's difficult to say whether it's stuck or not as the time to restore a backup can depend on many factors. You'll have to decide when you think it's just not continuing. You could try turning the phone off (hold the power button until you see the red off slider, then slide to turn off), then back on to see if that would get it going again.
When you're convinced it's just hung, you can go back to settings and tap Stop Restoring iPhone to stop the restore. You'll then have to try restoring it again (Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup). Be sure it's connected to your charger and wifi while it's restoring the backup.
You might also try the approach posted here by ezjules: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19518589#19518589. This seems to have worked for some people who had trouble restoring their photos from an iCloud backup. -
Apple recall...I don't think so
I am an Mac geek. I love all (well, most) things Apple and have had, over the past 20 years, great respect for the company. And yes, I have some Apple stock.
But let me say, unless these class action lawsuites win, I don't think Apple is going to do an iPhone 4 recall. It will simply be too expensive both monetarily and to their brand image. Yes, that image is taking a beating, and rightly so. But a full recall. I doubt it (although I hope I'm wrong).
It is Apple's responsibility to test and release products that work and function. Not release it and have 1.7 million people beta test it for them. Almost every iPhone launch has been bigger the the previous. That means that Apple has to try harder to release products that work right out of the gate. That what happens when you become the second biggest company in the US.
I think Apple will fix the issue quietly and let the blogosphere discover it. They will let you return your iPhone for a fixed replacement under warranty. Maybe the new white iPhone will have the issue fixed. This way, if you have an iPhone 4 with no issues, don't return it. If you have issues, return it and get iPhone 4.1. This will cost Apple far less than a a full recall since it will not involve all iPhones 4's sold.I disagree. Doig a full recall will show the world and loyalists that they are willing to accept and admit their mistakes, that they are sorry, and that they are working hard on a new design and will get it out shortly..sorry customer has to wait, but it will be worth it"
This kind of statement will go long ways to regain respect of loyalists and will show new customers that they are not arrogant and are willing to learn from their mistakes...
Its a good road for them to take.
If they stay in denial, then they will lose respect of people. -
I don't think Mac OS X Lion is entering Safe Boot mode
Hi Everyone,
I always do a safe boot when troubleshooting since my first MacBook with Leopard and after installing Lion in a new MacBook Pro, I don't think I'm entering safe boot mode. I mean, I press the shift key at boot time like I've done countless times before but now I think my MacBook Pro is not booting safe.
Namely: I don't see the words "Safe Boot" on the login screen, it doesn't take longer and the pinwheel is not replaced by a progress bar when booting.
Can anyone please tell me what's going on?
Thanks in advance! When I tried to run the Apple Hardware Test and couldn't start it with the "D" key, even though the "Alt" key and "Cmd+R" boot options did work, I started getting more suspicious.
I reset the PRAM and that fixed my issue.
For the record, the words "Safe Boot" on the login screen did not appear, but the progress bar instead of the pinwheel did.
